Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Pic of the day. Here's a new Wii U stage, Mushroom Kingdom U! It brings to life the worlds of New Super Mario Bros. U.

When Kamek casts a spell, the stage transforms drastically! That said, this is not what you would call a moving stage… …By the way, this stage will be playable in the demo version of the game for E3, a game expo that starts on June 10 in Los Angeles.

The NSMBU hate on GAF is pretty crazy. I suspect it's mostly from people that hate the previous games or hate the artstyle and went in with as closed a mind as possible.
I love the games (sans DS I guess) and hate the art style.

NOW WHAT

EDIT: Oh hey Kamek's going to show up! Really feels like there's more of an emphasis sneaking in more significant character cameos in the levels themselves this time around compared to the other games.

I'm definitely not aware of those hates, but again I don't go to any Mario Platformer threads at all. Well, that suck for them.

Wow, this looks amazing. Like that they choose to use the backdrops from New Mario U which looked great in the first place. I can't wait for E3 to finally here more. Been playing Kirby Triple Deluxe Multi with my brother while we wait for Smash to finally release on 3DS to tide us over to the U release.

Awesome. I wonder how many more unannounced stages will be playable next week?

Looks like a tournament legal stage too, assuming there aren't more transformations.

nvm, looks cool anyways

Are those blocks platforms or part of the background? If they're platforms hopefully you can drop through them.
It'll be like the blocks in the Melee Mario World stage. You won't be able to drop through them but you'll fall through them if you attack them.

A transformation stage. Similar to FE stage in Brawl. Cool.

Needs to also have more info on the Pokemon stage featured during Greninja's reveal.

No, those kinds of blocks are only in SMW. These look similar but they don't spin when you hit them. They periodically stretch out into long platforms and then contract into a single block.

Do we have any indication as to how many stages will feature "bosses"?

Assuming we have around 30-35 stages, I hope the number of stages with bosses is kept to a minimum....<5 or so. Or hopefully we would at least have an option to disable bosses from appearing on stages.

This might be banned in competitive play but I already know it's going to get a heck of a lot of playtime my circles. Looks beautiful to me!

Assuming the urchin hurts you if you touch it wouldn't that make it banned? Or does it really only boil down to how random a stage obstacle that can hurt players is before the stage isn't tournament legal?

Also there's no way there'll skip the Van Gogh forest locale. It's the main thing separating NSMBU visually from NSMBWii, besides Princess Peach's Castle (which they should have too).

If Halberd is a counter-pick I can't see anything in those images that would get it banned. Though I expect if those platforms randomly stretch out and save people trying to recover it would rustle a few jimmies.

The main thing separating NSMBU visually from NSMBWii is the entire game...

We had this debate a month ago and you didn't convince me NSMBU is a significantly different looking game to NSMBWii the first time, so I don't see the point in going through the same conversation again.

Well, if your delusions are that strong so be it. I mean it's literally completely different looking and the screenshots back this up but whatever.

Okay, please don't turn this thread into NSMB Wii vs. NSMB U since I don't know what happens in other threads but I would appreciate that if y'all don't.

Am I the only one not entirely hyped for E3? :(

I just ain't feeling it. Hopefully I will when it gets even closer.

Because they don't do 3DS demo? :P

Being hyped for E3 is dumb.

"Man I can't wait until they show me two days of commercials, I am fucking stoked"

Just watch and be happy at the potential, don't lose yourself to excitement to the point where you invest emotionally in to what these studios are doing (or in most cases, doing to you).

That's good. The less you're hyped, the more likely you are to be blown off your feet and surprised.

I'm likely to be disappointed because I'm so hyped.
