Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Am I the only one not entirely hyped for E3? :(

I just ain't feeling it. Hopefully I will when it gets even closer.

I'm hyped solely based on the fact that I won't have school/work/other obligations happening during the convention. I don't remember the last time that I didn't have something that caused me to miss a conference. (knock on wood)

Being hyped for E3 is dumb.

"Man I can't wait until they show me two days of commercials, I am fucking stoked"

Just watch and be happy at the potential, don't lose yourself to excitement to the point where you invest emotionally in to what these studios are doing (or in most cases, doing to you).

Eh, people can do whatever they want. If they are hyping to see their potential games then let them to be.

Mainly, I'm looking forward to read the impressions that people are getting their hands on for Smash Wii U. Rest are just bonus.

I'm already expecting we're going to get some huge emotional overreactions on GAF from games that are notably missing because people have convinced themselves E3 is where they must show up.

Stop being logical.

You are aware the 3DS game is on the showfloor too, right?

I'm not even talking about that, I mean generally.

That's a joke but specifically I'm talking about Smash 3DS Demo.I presumed that they are going to show Smash 3DS demo at conference since I heard that they would set up demos for press reporters.

Hopefully we would get some kind of impressions on Smash 3DS.

I'm doing my best to keep my hype levels at a minimum, so I don't overhype myself and end up super disappointed. That said, I can't help but be hyped up for smash and pogeymanz info.

But other than that, yeah, probably a good thing to be lukewarm, IMO. :-p

So, what you're saying is that we should hype a Zelda reveal?

I hope smash has an improved mario kart tv like feature. that would be radicalous.

I think it was GameXplain that point out the different views of the game in the Smash Direct (wire-frame Mac, Beetle item especially), might be from some sort of replay feature.

Oh, you were talking about that kind of thing. It's not my cup of tea since I would rather to stick with things that are confirmed to be shown at E3, such as Smash Bros, etc.

We will certainly get showroom videos of Smash 3DS and impressions, but it won't be as big as the Wii U demo.

I guess this is the best place to ask - what's the deal with the Starter, Counter-Pick and Banned stages in Project-M? Before each match I see them messing with the available stages and I don't entirely understand what's happening :/

Didn't you have some sort of "Reasonable Member" tag or something? Where did that go? :P

And, in this thread in particular, there's probably going to be some meltdowns if we get only one newcomer reveal rather than the huge blowout some are expecting.

Please don't jinx it. I don't really want a huge meltdown in the thread because I could foresee that it might be annoying to deal with.

People should be happy enough with one newcomer, impressions, tournament stream and conference.

There's going to be a meltdown.

People are expecting a blowout of newcomers and veterans. It's not likely to happen.

Expect a shit ton of moaning when Ridley really isn't playable and Mewtwo is never returning.

What about meltdowns if there's more than one newcomer revealed, Captain Falcon isn't cut, the game isn't competitively-shit and Sakurai shouldn't have been outed as the series' director?

There's being realistic, and then there's being pessimistic for no reason other than to draw (unintentional?) attention to yourself.

He stopped being too reasonable for this forum, obviously.
He asked for it to be removed, think he said this a few weeks back.

The Legend of Zelda?

Likely. People get waaaaay too excited for these things.

Then comes mass disappointment.

The best way to enjoy E3(or any new games) is knowing nothing about it beforehand, but there's too much information on the internet preventing it. So having some realistic expectation is all we can do, well most people still gone too far about what they'll see(or what they want to see) at E3.

Well, I'm just expecting 2 or 3 Newcomers because last year we got 3 during E3.

Nice! The Acorn Plains portion reminds me of the SMW stage from Melee and Brawl. If this is like the Fire Emblem stage, it makes me wonder just what the Fire Emblem stage for Smash U will be. Speaking of that stage though, did I read some of those above post right? Castle Seige is banned competively but Pokemon stadium isn't? I'm just curious, but why is that?

The only time an E3 conference has actively pissed me off is Nitnendo's Wii U re-reveal in 2012. Stayed up until 3AM Australian time for that, and beyond Pikmin 3 it was a complete shit show.

I don't think expecting something exciting for the conference before a big console release was unrealistic, and while Pikmin 3 was nice we both already knew about it years earlier and was shown off and done in the first five minutes.

I'm excited to stay up to 2am to watch Nintendo's conference this year again lol

it's the only conference I think I can catch, too. Got to pick my parents from the airport. Apparently they unwittingly timed it to obliterate my chances to catch any of the other conferences...

Oh I've never been in there so I don't know how bad it gets.
Pretty sure I signed on once to see people slagging off different GAF members. Statistically-speaking at least a few people were probably making fun of other users in the same IRC, simply with different usernames.

Though it's way quicker than GAF and more personal so eh I'll probably use it again for E3.

I'm thinking FFXV isn't going to land there.
Is anybody on this forum realistically expecting FFXV on the Wii U though? Even Kingdom Hearts 3 bar Nintendo throwing money Square's way for some reason is a huge 'if'.

Pic of the day. Here's a new Wii U stage, Mushroom Kingdom U! It brings to life the worlds of New Super Mario Bros. U.

When Kamek casts a spell, the stage transforms drastically! That said, this is not what you would call a moving stage…
…By the way, this stage will be playable in the demo version of the game for E3, a game expo that starts on June 10 in Los Angeles.

Really nice looking stage. Also doesn't look as #BANNED as a few others. :P

FF XV showing up will cause meltdowns.
FF XV not showing up will cause meltdowns, maybe with a dose of Auras for the entire party and some Rezokuken, hopefully Lionheart will activate and not Rough Divide.

So yeah, that pic is gorgeous. Nintendo has some of the best aesthetics in gaming, love the art direction in this Smash. Come E3, we should be able to say whether or not the game is in 1080p for sure, what say you, GAF?

I'm already expecting we're going to get some huge emotional overreactions on GAF from games that are notably missing because people have convinced themselves E3 is where they must show up.

Lol, I learned way back in High School to tame expectations for E3. It's primarily a trade show, and it should be treated as such.

People need to learn to tame their expectations, it's gotten to the point where I think people overhype just so they can come and complain about something. I am however, hyped as shit to play the game at Best Buy, couldn't try to tame that if I tried. I have never been disappointed with a Smash game, so I have no reason to be afraid to hype a chance to play it early.

Well, #BANNED is pretty self explanatory. In a tournament, you can't pick that stage (unless both players agree to it). In the first round, only Starter stages are available. Loser picks the next stage, and that's when Counter-Pick stages are allowed. That's basically how it works.

Hope there's a version for each world stage.

Well, the geysers were the main feature of Sparkling Waters yet they're being used in Rock-Candy Mines here. Maybe for Sparkling Waters they could do an underwater stage where everyone has infinite jumps.

NSMBU has a lot of things that could make great stages:

jbggNJhg6YELwi.jpg

Stage scrolls up with beanstalk growing as lower leaves wilt and fall off.

Gotta have those stars.

jZfvMLMP6p7CI.jpg

Obviously gotta have this.

jbxRoJ0pvqHWVK.jpg

How about that for a stage hazard?
