Batman Arkham Knight delayed to 2015

So pretty much this year is going to be an absolute joke game-wise?
Destiny
Dragon age
Driveclub
Middle earth
Evolve
Far cry 4
Call of duty
Battlefield
Assassins creed
Project cars
borderlands
Bayonetta 2
Forza horizon 2
sunset overdrive
Smash bros
Last of us remastered

But yea, no games.

These rising costs and expectations are complete bullshit. Some of the most popular and profitable video games out right now are shit like Angry Birds and Minecraft. To sit there and say that these small companies can figure out how to make smaller, cheaper, profitable games and AAA developers can't is just bullshit.
Are costs and expectations falling in the console space? :s

Why are you listing a mobile title and a PC indie title, that transitioned to mobile before eventually coming to consoles, to illustrate the current market for console games?
How often does a mid-tier title meet success these days on consoles? What kind of production budget and marketing budget is typically needed for a game to succeed on the new systems?

Are you advocating that they all go mobile?

And when people complain about the lack of releases, are they talking about releases like Angry Birds, or are they talking about high production value properties like Batman?

Borderlands isn't a next gen game. But yeah overall the yah isn't that bad just not great for the more traditional next gen consoles first year.

I feel for ya Mutes lol

And there goes another game I was going to play on PS4 this fall. Thank goodness I have an XB1, so I can play at least some next-gen games this fall.

Haha, forreal. The joke is, for all this hype behind sony's machine, the XB1 has the most big games for their early adopters this fall. Sunset Overdrive looks amazing, Forza Horizon is being made in the F5 engine and obviously benefit, and either a Halo 2 anniversary or Halo collection will be remastered. Things are getting troubling for Sony. E3 will make or break alot of minds in the short run, long enough for the XB1 to catch up; especially with a kinectless x1 releasing the same day of the MS conference.

Fuckin dream on dude.

I don't know man, they said 2014 when they announced it, said 2014 again at E3 last year, it's been listed as 2014 in their January investor's briefing and also listed as 2014 in their fiscal year end briefing. I think it's coming in 2014.

Sony should just cancel the PS4 since 2014 is clearly a complete joke.

/sarcasm

well they certainly could have planned a better first year for their new console

Plus Titanfall and infamous, and anything else that came out in the first half of the year.

My October just got cleared up for Shadows of Mordor. Good. Just pre-ordered last night on Steam.
I wouldn't even be surprised if that was somewhat intended. Shadows of Mordor and Arkham Knight are both published by Warner Bros. and looking at Shadow of Mordor it does seem to have a lot of the arkham series in it, so maybe Warner was not even that unhappy about giving rocksteady a few months extra.

Nintendo can't be that crazy can they? It's their only big winter game.

We don't know their holiday lineup yet. They could easily have an AAA game under wraps that would soften the blow if Smash gets delayed. SM3DW and DKCTF were revealed at E3 last year, and DK got delayed.

So i guess the "they delayed it to avoid a launch in a packed Fall" excuse is valid no more?
I mean now even first half of 2015 is full with titles.

Neither Sony or MS have a system selling exclusive this year. Nintendo might be the only one who has that but the Wii U is beyond hope.

Because they're all video games and easily could have sold on consoles if they debuted there? If people didn't want a console version of Minecraft then they would have went and bought one of the dozens of other versions of it on any other platform. But it still sells a shit ton on consoles. So there's obviously a market for these smaller, less polished games on consoles.

I had to use those examples, because none of the bigger companies bother taking the risk anymore. So we don't have examples like that in the current age. Anything I would have mentioned from the past would have just been met with "Yes, well, the market isn't the same anymore." So I had to use the best examples I could from the modern day.

That's ok.

The Evil Within, Destiny, Driveclub, The Last of Us: Remastered, Metro: Redux, are all I'll need for the rest of the year.

If Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age: Inquisition are good, I'll pick those up too. There's also Diablo 3 and AC: Unity.

This year looks packed enough.

People keep posting this list as if it is supposed to be impressive?

UbiSoft Collectathon: Island Edition 4, UbiSoft Collectathon: Yearly Franchise Installment We Swear Its Good This Time Guyz, Dragon Age: LOL WE GOT YOUR MONEY AGAIN 3, Destiny, Alien Isolation, flabby and weak-lookin' Mikami not-Resident Evil and struggle not-Left 4 Dead

get hype

As opposed to Fucking Donkey Kong, Mario Kart Another One, Smash Bros 3DS, not-Kamiya Bayonetta, and Monolith Side Quests? get hype

Destiny, Evil Within, and Evolve are new IPs. Alien Iso is an original game. Also you realize while a lot of the Activision, EA, and Ubisoft franchises themselves are annual, the actual games releasing this year are not? Assassin's Creed Unity and COD have been in development for 3 years. Ditto for Dragon Age, I think.

Sucks for some but Feb to April should be just as important as October to Dec. Publishers need to start spreading out the games and reap the rewards.

Maybe Rocksteady could take the time and change that awful Harley Quinn design.

what kind of bet we talking? I'm game

Console game of your choice. If its out in 2014 Ill buy you whatever. If it gets pushed back to 2015, you buy me whatever.

Im not talking some 200 dollar rarity NES game. Im talking current and last gen titles.

And it's got to be a true formal announcement by Nintendo.

Yup Ms is really killing it on the exclusive front in 2014 with a driving game, and open world game and a remaster of a last gen classic while all Sony has is a driving game, an open world game, and a remaster of a last gen classic. Jokes on you, $ony!!

Ahhh. Nick Arundel's music relaxes me a little.

Fuck!

I think i'm going to play Arkham City again for the hundredth time.

Am I hearing a hint of the main theme from Arkham City? That theme is by far the best of the series. Gave me goosebumps loading up the game the very first time. Though it obviously is supposed to have that Zimmer sound, that climactic motif surpasses Zimmer's 2 noter for the movie trilogy. Don't recall that it was even used elsewhere in the game. Can't understand why. It gets the hero vibes going.

It was sadly missing in Origins.

Also: 2015. Crap. Surely they already knew this when announced a short few weeks ago. October and Arkham seems like a tradition at this point. Cold nights, a blanket, and Arkham by the fireplace with the witch's moon peeking through the window. Boo :(

ah well, millions of books to read in the meantime.
