Batman Arkham Knight delayed to 2015

If the game is not ready it's not ready what do you want them to do? Sprinkle some magic dust on it? This clearly isn't ideal for WB as the game would have feasted in October but things happen. Would you rather have a rushed, buggy or bad game? In retrospect would you have preferred if, say, Battlefoeld 4 had been delayed 4 or 5 months to have it working better at launch? I mean is that what we all bitch and complain about? Isn't that what we want? These things happen. Why do you guys always have to find a bad guy in every situation?

Not my fault. They should stop being lazy and work 24 hours a day.

So pretty much this year is going to be an absolute joke game-wise?

Destiny, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Sunset Overdrive, Alien: Isolation, etc.

There's still good games coming. Not sure if some of you know this but E3 takes place in 6 days as well.

You can already get deals on it for $340 with various types of discounts. That's my point the longer it is on the market the easier it is find deals. The RRP might not change but competition generally makes this true. Plus lets say he wanted to buy a bigger tv. He could have had that TV now and bought the PS4 later rather than having the ps4 now without the games he wanted to play.
Yes I graduated high school I fully understand opportunity cost. But that doesn't apply for the majority of Ps4 owners who have already bought and enjoyed games on it. Do we want more games, yeah of course why not? But saying people wasted their money by buying a console early, to me isn't very accurate.

Never thought I'd say this, but thank God for the Wii U. Between X, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Bros, it looks more and more like that's the main thing I'm playing this year. Not to mention Tropical Freeze and my current addiction Mario Kart 8.

Anyone else notice that at the end of the new trailer it says that the Harley Quinn DLC is "not available on all platforms"??

HOLY DELAY, BATMAN!

Can't believe nobody said that yet.

Noooooo!!!!!

Really the only big release I was looking forward to in the fall. Maybe a Wii U purchase is in my future to catch up on the Mario games and replay WW.

This would probably have been my goty. Though at the same time it might not be so bad, autumn is already pretty loaded and now I can give something like shadows of mordor a chance

Honestly think this gen will have the biggest decline in sales ever if the current trends are anything to go by.

It's been in development since they finished Arkham City. And if it wasn't ready then don't have people expecting it's coming this fall.

I was going to buy a PS4 for this!!!!

So was Rocksteady lying when they denied that claim from a few months ago that the game was delayed?

Source? i haven't heard anything about them repsonding to this rumor.

Smh...

Some of my friends haven't made the next gen leap yet and this doesn't help my case for a sale. Most casual gamers will make the leap in 2015

This in particular sounds like a case of the publisher writing checks the developer knew they couldn't cash. Ubisoft pulled the same stunt announcing The Division as a 2014 release when Massive knew it was going to be late 2015 at the earliest. This game was announced in March for an October release and the delay rumors started a month later. It would be nice if publishers were a bit more honest with this stuff from the jump.

That's ok.

The Evil Within, Destiny, Driveclub, The Last of Us: Remastered, Metro: Redux, are all I'll need for the rest of the year.

If Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age: Inquisition are good, I'll pick those up too. There's also Diablo 3 and AC: Unity.

This year looks packed enough.

What it means to me is that people need to recalibrate their expectations, as they are clearly out of whack.
I don't agree. People should keep their expectations high and voice their opinion when they are disappointed in companies. These companies exist to make things for consumers, and if the consumers aren't happy with the output of the company, they have every right to complain about it. Nothing good happens when consumers sit around and lower expectations.

If people kept quiet about shit they are disappointed with we would probably have two systems that we couldn't play used games on right now.

Depends, I feel like between Xbox One and PS4 I'll get a good set of games this year. You might have be willing to dip into some remakes/remasters. If you only had one of them then I guess it'd be quite sparse.

I'll pick up a good chunk of these:

Last of Us: Remastered
Minecraft (XBO/PS4)
Diablo III (XBO/PS4)
AC: Unity
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Driveclub
Forza Horizon 2
Evolve
Far Cry 4
Project Spark
Sunset Overdrive
The Elder Scrolls Online
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Destiny

The market has spoken, that's the problem. This isn't an arbitrary change that can be reversed, like the MS DRM. The industry has evolved due to drastic changes in customer spending and habits.

We can't hashtag our way into more AAA titles per year.

People voicing discontent with there being fewer releases really achieves absolutely nothing. (Particularly, when people are concurrently voice discontent about things not being 1080p60. Or not being "next gen" enough. Or having "last gen gameplay.")

There are fewer releases, because of both rising costs and rising expectations for what those releases will entail. Publishers are consolidating their resources onto fewer releases out of necessity. Complaining about it doesn't really change the underlying situation whatsoever.

For me, Destiny is gonna release this year, so not for me. And no, it won't be delayed to 2015 as it was already delayed from it's Spring release no matter how many times you're gonna scream 2015 to me.

thank God for Wii U

my problem isn't the fewer releases, it's the release window announcement > ::crickets:: > delayed announcement that keeps happening. if your game isn't coming in ___insert year___ then don't say it is. if you're not 100% sure when it's coming then maybe hold off on saying anything until you are. how many games have been delayed this gen? it's not a random occurrence anymore and it's getting fucking annoying

What it means to me is that people need to recalibrate their expectations, as they are clearly out of whack.

Companies need to stop announcing games before they are ready. It's that simple. From March they should have said late 2014 to early 2015. Then, they could have moved to 2015 entirely. But no, we got a hard date. I mean their are producers and project leads for a reason, to sketch projections for a games progress. Take all the time you need, but stop drumming up with these extraneous pre-order-hype cycles it's becoming ridiculous.

Ok. Makes October a little less full for me and I've got enough going on that I'm fine with it. Though 2015 is looking to be a fantastic year.

The new consoles still have more than 3 games this fall dude.

I find the timing of this delay to be somewhat suspicious. Rocksteady just revealed Arkham Knight a few months ago, and it's already delayed? I just get the feeling that they knew they wouldn't deliver in Fall 2014 when they first announced the game, but maybe wanted to get the word out and get preorders started. They had to know they weren't going to make a release date only 6 months or so out if they're already delaying it now. When added with the prior rumors of the delay, it just all seems fishy to me.

But to the quality of Bayonetta 2? I think not!

But seriously Mario Kart is one of the highest rated next gen games, user score and otherwise it's not always about the amount.

These rising costs and expectations are complete bullshit. Some of the most popular and profitable video games out right now are shit like Angry Birds and Minecraft. To sit there and say that these small companies can figure out how to make smaller, cheaper, profitable games and AAA developers can't is just bullshit.
The market has spoken, that's the problem. This isn't an arbitrary change that can be reversed, like the MS DRM. The industry has a evolved due to drastic changes in customer spending and habits.

I never said it we could. My point was that people don't have to be satisfied with the current market just because the video game industry has pushed itself into a corner. There are plenty of cheap games that don't have these high end graphics and polish that do very well for themselves.

UbiSoft Collectathon: Island Edition 4, UbiSoft Collectathon: Yearly Franchise Installment We Swear Its Good This Time Guyz, Dragon Age: LOL WE GOT YOUR MONEY AGAIN 3, Destiny, Alien Isolation, flabby and weak-lookin' Mikami not-Resident Evil and struggle not-Left 4 Dead
