Batman Arkham Knight delayed to 2015

As opposed to Fucking Donkey Kong, Mario Kart Another One, Smash Bros 3DS, not-Kamiya Bayonetta, and Monolith Side Quests?

Destiny, Evil Within, and Evolve are new IPs. Alien Iso is an original game. Also you realize while a lot of the Activision, EA, and Ubisoft franchises themselves are annual, the actual games releasing this year are not? Assassin's Creed Unity and COD have been in development for 3 years. Ditto for Dragon Age, I think.

TBF this is the start of a new gen where we're supposed by be flooded in new IP.

Such a selection really doesn't make me hopeful for the rest of the gen.

Also there's a Kamiya new IP on the Wii U so I have no idea why your using not Kamiya Bayonetta in a negative manner.

Yup Ms is really killing it on the exclusive front in 2014 with a driving game, and open world game and a remaster of a last gen classic while all Sony has is a driving game, an open world game, and a remaster of a last gen classic. Jokes on you, $ony!!

Perfection. Bravo.

This guy is on to something!

I think most of us should try to widen our palettes and at least consider the many other games coming out before saying no game is coming out between now and 2015.

It might help.

Console game of your choice. If its out in 2014 Ill buy you whatever. If it gets pushed back to 2015, you buy me whatever.

Im not talking some 200 dollar rarity NES game. Im talking current and last gen titles.

And it's got to be a true formal announcement by Nintendo.

do you have a Wii U? want to do a $50 eShop card instead?

what's sony's open world game?

Almost impossible to do on mobile but I'm guessing he or she is a troll?

EDIT:

Ah thanks. I don't know how or why people do this...just take off the rose colored glasses and contribute to the convo!
I don't think he is a troll but he's rightly very unhappy with Sony's output on the PS4. Driveclub is their only exclusive PS4 title this fall.

People keep posting this list as if it is supposed to be impressive?
The Evil Within is my most wanted game of 2014. I'd be happy with that alone. Plenty of 2014 games have been posted in this thread. If you're still gonna cry, you're the problem.

If any of these new games come out as quality as the bolded games you mentioned, it's going to be a good year. Those two are easily two of the best games in the last 5 years. You mention them as if they were churned out sequels with cut and paste jobs.

As for this delay, Sony can easily rectify this delay issue by releasing Rime this year.

Because they're all video games and easily could have sold on consoles if they debuted there? If people didn't want a console version of Minecraft then they would have went and bought one of the dozens of other versions of it on any other platform. But it still sells a shit ton on consoles. So there's obviously a market for these smaller, less polished games on consoles.

I had to use those examples, because none of the bigger companies bother taking the risk anymore. So we don't have examples like that in the current age. Anything I would have mentioned from the past would have just been met with "Yes, well, the market isn't the same anymore." So I had to use the best examples I could from the modern day.
But the market isn't the same anymore. It hasn't been the same for a generation now. The production budget needed to produce what would be considered a mid-tier title requires sales that would have been considered AAA in the past.

How well did Dragon's Dogma sell in Western markets? Asura's Wrath? The new DmC? Remember Me? FUSE?

Minecraft is relatively anomalous. It's a rare phenomenon and became one long before it hit consoles. I'm sure any of the publishers would be quite happy to have a Minecraft. But I doubt they'd achieve that by releasing dozens upon dozens of low budget titles.

Suffice to say, I doubt that releasing dozens of Angry Birds style games on consoles would be met by jubilation nor market success.

That isn't to say that smaller titles can't find success, nor that some publishers aren't exploring with smaller titles (with digital download being a good vehicle for this) but for their major efforts publishers are focusing on bigger titles for the bigger potential payout.

word I'm game. so if it comes out in 2014 you get me a $50 eShop card and if it slips into 2015 I'll get you one

Yep. *shakes hand*

I do keep my word on this stuff so I hope you can too and that you're not some poor college kid looking for a quick cheat and grab.

I just went on Amazon to have a look at the tentative release dates of upcoming PS4 games.

Everything is being released late August/October/November.

Nothing this June. Nothing this July.

Welp.

Jesus fuck, now my entire shit got wrecked, I need to reconsider my purchases for this year.

Evil Within is on October same as Shadow of Mordor right?

Next delayed title.
I hope Far Cry 4 will be realease in november. If not, this year is finished for me. I waited for Batman, The Order 1886 and FC4. 2/3 next year. Not good.

Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Evil Within, Evolve - new IP, first year..roughly.

What new IPs were you flooded with during year one of 360 until Gears? Dead Rising, Kameo, and Gun?

Looks like the PS4 purchase will be on hold then till 2015! There's just seems to be a near-drought of releases so far be it for the PS3/360 or PS4 XB-1 that aren't particularly, must-have..!

disappointed to be sure... but it's a rocksteady next-gen Batman game. delay it til holiday 2015 for all I care, just make it the best of the trilogy!

What comes out in August? besides indies....

Looks like I was wrong. Nothing is coming out in August (except Diablo 3, August 19).

Metro Redux = 29 August. That's practically September. However, these two games are last gen remasters.

Destiny is said to be released on 7 Sept. So, if you want to play any new games from now, you'll have to wait until September.

Oh boy - three month drought. Lol.

Dragon's Dogma sold well enough to be considered for a sequel so at the very least I doubt Capcom lost money. In fact, I'm pretty sure Capcom said that Dragon's Dogma exceeded their expectations, while Resident Evil 6 fell short.

You know why the new DmC bombed. It's the reimagining of an old IP that no one but Capcom wanted.

Remember Me and Fuse were mediocre to shitty games depending on who you ask. It's not a wonder why boring new IP's wouldn't sell well.

Asura's Wrath is not only an extremely niche title, it was a title that locked out the actual ending behind DLC. If I had known that before I bought it I never would have gotten it either.

If anything, you're proving my point. These companies don't know how to make anything but their version of summer blockbusters anymore, and the best they try to do otherwise is bad ideas that looked mediocre from the start, bad marketing decisions and locking key content away behind paywalls.
