PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Well, my game showed up 30 min ago on PSN. I had a question though. Something I've noticed ever since I got my PSP Slim. Whenever I download something, I just let it run and it will eventually go into sleep mode (where the screen turns off). When I wake it up, I'll notice my download paused. This never happened before on my Vita. I would be able to walk away and just let it download.

Is there something in my settings that keeps pausing the download? Or do I really have to make sure the screen doesn't go to sleep to continue it DL? That doesn't sound right.

EDIT: I have "use Wi-Fi" checked off in Power Save mode. SO hmmm.
I have Use Wi-Fi checked on and mine still does this. Doesn't matter if it s plugged in or not.

That stinks. I wonder why the hell it does this? Oh well. I just made it so it doesn't go to sleep until 10 minutes. I'll obviously lower that back to 3 min when I'm not downloading. But 10 min is enough for it to DL a huge chunk (at my internet speed), and I'm usually able to come back to it by the time it goes back to sleep within a 10 min interval.

When everyone in your circle starts liking the same character, someone has to go hipster.
Well, there has been a crazy amount of DP awareness over the past few years. So much that the bad writers are getting recognized for their "awesomeness". DP is getting more merch than I can remember, and a lot of it is terrible cash buy ins so people will buy it and call themselves "fans". So yea, I guess I can understand.

Edit: With Murumasa down (for now) and SP TSoT done, I've gotten sucked back into Terraria. Been happening over the past week slowly, but it's back in full swing. Never got too far in hardmode, but LAWD it's kicking my buns pretty good. Have Paladium armor set, and they are tearing through it like buttah. Trying to find crystal shards to make a Phasesaber. Then maybe work on some Mitril armor or something.

"Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" has nothing to do with the Vita being in sleep or your downloads pausing - it's a setting which allows the network hardware inside the Vita to run in power save mode, saving you battery at the cost of a lower quality, lower speed internet connection.

Unchecking it will up your wi-fi connection quality, and up your download/upload speed to the PSN.

As for your downloads pausing, I'm not sure why that's happening unless you're forcing the Vita to sleep. Pressing the power button to put the Vita to sleep ALSO puts the internet connection to sleep, you need to let your Vita fall asleep with the timer to have downloads continue in the background while it sleeps.

I put my Vita to sleep via power button and it keeps downloading things. Downloaded Meruru+ (3gb) without pausing. Wi-fi power save mode unchecked.

I had issues with downloads pausing several times before, but it's been some time since I last got then. By now I believe it's related to your Vita's mood and that's that.

Well then. I'll go uncheck it then. It was checked off by default. And no, I wasn't forcing it to sleep. The screen is on, and I don't touch anything. I just let it go to sleep by itself (ie. by not touching the screen or any buttons). And yet, it keeps pausing the download.

Maybe unchecking that option will now get it to work (when allowing it to naturally go into sleep mode). That seems to be the factor here.

It's very confusingly worded in the option, but this box should actually be unchecked and your downloads will continue.
GAFfers never cease to be awesome! Unchecked it! Does the PSP have a similar option to uncheck?

Edit: Found the WLAN power save and turned it off.

Just to be clear, you can still 'purchase' games and demos from the webstore and download them manually on PS3. You don't have to use the auto-download feature. As soon as you buy the games or demos they are attached to your account (account management > transaction management > download list). I still find this faster than the console store. I think I misunderstood what you originally asked, lol. Sorry for the confusion.
Oh don't worry, you've been very helpful! I still decided to purchase Plus and get the current games at the last second, because apparently Uncharted 3 isn't available digitally otherwise (even if it's only the single player part, which luckily is the only thing I care for).

I didn't know Plus codes couldn't be redeemed on the web store. I purchased it from Amazon earlier today at work, and had to ask my dad to input it on the console at home.

That's where I honestly got the most fun out of PS+ games. Because they sometimes have hidden gems that i somehow skipped or overlooked.
That's so good! Finding hidden gems is always nice, so I should try those unknown titles whenever I get them.

I think I would've ordered that Borderland 2 Vita from Amazon if I could've gotten in on the price mistake and got one for $111.

Didn't see this when you posted, but I'd say you should definitely play Resistance 3. It's an awesome and underrated game.

The first was easily my favorite of the three.
The second had really fun co-op, but the campaign was janky, uneven, and forgettable.
The third was kind of solid overall and somewhere between the first and the second for me. I platinumed this one as it required no online trophies (or at least no grinding required).

Wasn't she replaced by Chieh Chen, aka Best Chen?
edit: and man, didn't expect Neptunia PP to be a $40 title.
Nah, Chieh Chen is the new very nice lady that tells us when all the really awesome sales are happening. And she responds with emoticons and pure unbridled joy.

Any other plus owners not being able to download PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate for free just yet?

PS+ offers (the price of free) are the very last thing to go live on the store update. Just wait a bit more.

I see, thanks! For now, I can only dream on how wonderful would be if she got GC's duties and gave us CCT.

Just like PBR, LBP Vita and Tearaway, right?
Look at the games you're naming, and look at the one I brought up. Can't compare a pet game to those, even Sony knows the value of it. That's why it's going for $20.

Someone has said that about every SCE Vita game ever published. It might end up on the IGC, I dunno, but this is tiring, lol.
True, but this is actually a reasonable guess. People saying stuff like Tearaway, Killzone,Transistors, aka high quality games, are just people hoping they can quickly get it for "free."

It's still listed as $14.99 on the store for me so I can't even initialize an actual download

Now puppeteer says it's been "purchased" for me. Idk what's going on with the store anymore.

Try this if it keeps pausing - mine always work and this is how I leave them;

  1. Exit to the home screen (you should be able to see all the bubbles)
  2. Touch the notification bubble to pull up the notifications, so they're in the foreground
  3. Let it fall asleep like this, with the notification showing the download progress in the foreground (not an open app/game, or an untouched home page)

Weird to see a flash sale on a tuesday...

Some prices haven't been updated yet, but if FFX HD gets a 50% discount I'll probably jump on it.

Strange, it's the same with me and Soul Sacrifice. I never bought it or redeemed it on PS+. I don't think I can actually download it, though.

Edit: Apparently, I actually did get it on May 6. Was it in IGC at that point? I don't even know.

Ni No Kuni for 5 dollars is sweet
Yeah... but that massive-assive file size though !! I guess I can delete Tales of, I never got more than 15 minutes into it.

Yo, what's the state of IdolM@ster on Vita? I want one.
