Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

I want as little of that as possible in Smash Bros. Miis are okay since they've sort of become Nintendo's mascot over the last eight years, and I like Villager -- it represents the main character of one of Nintendo's best selling series -- but Robin isn't nearly as important to Nintendo as those two.
I'd argue that Robin is more important to his franchise and, by extension, Nintendo than Chrom is, at least. Robin better represents the essence of Fire Emblem as the Tactician, the guy in charge who makes all the strategic decisions, which is what the Fire Emblem games are all about. Plus Robin can be almost any class and use just about any weapon, so he's a better representation of the abilities and combat of the game by default as well.

I've been really, really curious as to what it is, after a point I gave up and thought it was specifically to troll people.
I don't know why either. Apparently it just doesn't work in Chrome. I can see it, so I normally just forget that it happens.
nvm it's working now

anyway OT: does anyone think another reveal will happen this week
What was going on though?

And depends on how you define reveal. Character? No.

I'm up for some avatar bets! These are all one week, first bets are active first, and no nsfw/bannable avatars obviously.

- Ness returns Taken by Troubled Bat
- Ridley is playable Taken by munchie64
- Palutena is playable Taken by ErrorMacro
- Captain Falcon returns Taken by Troubled Bat
- Exclusive mode for Wii U

EDIT: I'm betting that these will be revealed at E3.

I claw at my face in despair at the idea of making characters skins of other characters.

But this one actually makes a lot of sense. Lucina literally
tells you her name is Marth. There would be no name swap (presumably), just the alternate appearance and fans would know it was really Lucina.

But in Awakening she
was pretending to be Marth
, so it wouldn't be too out of the ordinary.

4 out of 5 are guaranteed wins for you unless I'm missing something here

I would prefer Robin to be magic based because we don't have enough of that in Smash yet, I feel.

It took a full two minutes to open up IE and look at it.

It wasn't worth it, no matter how nice a Samus avatar it is.

An alt costume that uses Marth's Awakening DLC design would be pretty much the same thing as skinning Lucina without the confusion.

...Actually, while I share the same animosity towards separate characters as alts, I wouldn't mind characters only receiving the costumes of others - giving Luigi Waluigi's overalls; putting Pit in the Skyworld Fighter uniform or Ike in Chrom's swimsuit wouldn't feel off as long as it was presented as the original character merely wearing a costume.

Now. Are these for E3 specifically? If so.. I'll take that Ness bet!

lol you crazy.

That's a whole extra demo they have to develop. A demo that is arguably not necessary since most people at E3 will want to play the Wii U one anyway. They can show off the 3DS version during presentations/roundtable/treehouse and give us all the info they need.

Not saying it would be bad for them to demo, but I think there has to be some cost-benefit analysis they performed and I wonder if it's worth it for them to not only develop a demo version of the game, but also have demo units dedicated to it on the showfloor. I honestly think that other than smash run and 'just seeing how it looks in person'. That last part really only benefits the few thousands of people attending E3.

Not saying I don't want it to be there, just saying I wouldn't be surprised if we only have a demo for the Wii U playable on the E3 show floor. They can give the press time w/ the current 3DS build backstage, and that would be sufficient.

Okay, I would consider to accept your bet if you are talking about ALL OF THOSE HAD TO HAPPENS AT E3.

Why would you do that? Firefox, yo.

I foolishly thought that loading up IE that was already installed would be quicker than downloading Firefox specifically to look at your avatar. I may have been wrong.

Speaking of Robin, what would his/her recovery move be?

I see samus and im using IE.

You and Ryce both bring up great points but I agree with your point in regards to Fire Emblem itself. It's why I still can't decide between the 3 Awakening leads. They all would make sense but Chrom probably has the upper hand.

I'm a Marth fan and I want Lucina
as a Marth alt. costume.

If that's the only way then sure. I still want as many characters as possible.

Surely I am not the only who thinks Chrom isn't a shoo-in? I mean, an Waifu Emblem rep is very likely, but not necessarily Chrom.
I only put him on my roster prediction because everyone else said he was a shoe in. I've not played Fire Emblem so I was relying on the words of others in the case of him.

The main thing he has going in his favor is that he's the main lord of the game just as Marth, Roy and (although not a actually a lord) Ike are. If we're going to assume that's an unbreakable trend, then Chrom would be the playable rep.

He is the most likely Awakening character to be in Smash, but I wouldn't call him a shoo-in :p

I think the following will happen:

Definitely Ness Returns
Definitely Palutena Playable
Definitely Ridley NOT Playable
Reggie in the game (60%)
Snake Returns
Pichu Out
R.O.B. reworked and/or Out
Players can display their faces instead of character portraits online (via the Wii U camera)
Sakurai in the game (50%)

Ike is also a lord (unless we're taking the "actual royalty" angle), but none of the 3 shared the spotlight to the extent Chrom does with Robin (yeah yeah Radiant Dawn, but Ike already had Path of Radiance anyway).
