I think mega means a new character (or confirmed return of a vet), a new mode, something significant changing in the smash "genre", something significant about the online or release date, or even a crazy hint that gives information after some effort.

Even though I really want a veteran reveal tomorrow, I think an assist trophy or something as important will be shown. We already had a new stage, trophy and item this week, I doubt Sakurai will reveal anything "mega" 5 days before E3.

In addition to the 16 skilled players that will be competing at the Super Smash Bros. Invitational at E3, we'll also be holding a special exhibition match starring four media outlets from around the world!

Neat. Hopefully not polygon. I'd love it to be international, too (like, outlets that strictly cover for one country, like spain, or mexico, and nowhere else).
