The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

I'm hesitating to buy the novels in portuguese, I'm afraid the translation might suck.

The ones that have been translated to english are The Last Wish, Blood of Elves and Time of Contempt right?

Storyline question. Spoilers from witcher 2.

Wait a sec. Wasn't Gerald still being chased for regicide at the end of the 2? I don't remember that being cleared up.
At the end the Sorceresses are outed as being behind the plot. That's when all hell broke loose with their dragon backup. If you rescue Triss or not determines if all Sorceresses are blamed for it, or just the few offending parties.

Yes, and Baptism of Fire is due out at the end of the month.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
For anyone doubting the graphical prowess of the graphics, check the screenshot below:

Check out the texture quality on the back of the tent for example. It is so detailed, the parallex textures on the polygons of the tent are extremely life-like, and make a very 1:1 replica of tents, and I'm an expert in camping . The tent itself is procedural generated. Geralt's model is very well textured, with a good mixture of art and vortexs with good light shader on the skin which reflects the light of the setting realistically. The flies have unique A.I designed to make them hover around the flame, with each fly having a unique 3d model. Equally, the lighting is great, the light of the candles illuminates the tent and the colour is refracted as well, showing that there is a very competent lighting system in place. The shadowing is accurate, with sub-scatter lighting showing more accurate shadowing on Geralt's model.

For a game from 2011, it is incredibly well made and even today very competitive.

Hahaha, this fucking duck. I'm dying.

The Witcher 2 was very technically impressive, and I'm sure the new game will be a beast, but people shouldn't be too worried about the requirements. When TW2 came out I had an aging computer but the game still looked amazing. It's not just about the ubersampling with these guys, it's about the awesome art.

pip pip cheerio you slags!
How can the ending be spoiled? They are all different, depending on your choices.

Yeah but they said like what happens in the ending, like what your choices are
(not that much, something about letting a dragon live, which I assume means saskia)

I didn't even knew they were translated to portuguese. I bought The Last Wish (just finished it actually) and Blood of Elves. It's a good read, I don't know if I should read The Sword of Destiny (second book) translated by fans before moving on to Blood of Elves though.

This game looks great. Although, I hope that shark section is optional. I can't wait to play this game for the first time.

What ending did this game go with? I haven't played the rest of the games in the series and will wiki the core story material.

The Sword of destiny is a second book of short stories before the actual saga consisting of the remaining 5 books starts.

It sets up important stuff, that while not essential, establishes context for a lot that is happening, it also introduces ciri if i remember right. I'd read it before starting the saga.

btw. for people asking about languages, The witcher books are translated into pretty much all major european languages except english.

German, French, Italian, Spanish, portuguese, czech, russian and probably more.

Yes. Texture work in The Witcher 2 was top tier stuff even by PC standard.
Zoltan Chivay has the most detailed hands and fingers I've seen on a character model

The games are constructed so that your choices have a big influence in events along the way, but they have the same overall result in the end. So the story is very customized to you as it plays out, but the effect on the next game is minimal. For example, most of the decisions in Witcher 2 effected political situations that won't factor into the locations where Witcher 3 plays out.

You know your parallax, alright.

I'll go with the english versions, played the games in english so it feels more natural to me.

I'm still worried about this particular aspect. I hope they don't pull a bioware on us. There are some big choices in TW2 and they better have consequences in TW3.
You can even kill a king for fuck's sake.
Then there are those choices that are made at the very end of TW2 regarding major characters like
Saskia and Letho
. Since they happen at the very end they don't have an impact on TW2 itself so it only makes sense to expect these choices to be relevant in the third game and let's not kid ourselves,
keeping a friggin' dragon around has to be a pretty big deal.

I'm sure this was posted, but holy god all the stuff you get with the GOG version... you have to feel bad for console players honestly, especially if you owned the previous two to make it cheaper.

Wow, I had decided on getting it for PS4 despite owning 1 and 2 on PC. I wanted to play from my couch and didn't think my CPU would allow me to play it smoothly despite my graphics card.

i5-750
14 gig of ram
GTX 770 4gig of vram

Looking at the preorder bonuses and the reduced price for owning the first two..... I just don't know anymore. The beta access for the board game is the most appealing part.

Wat? All I see is a nice ass.

Is there any way to get the discount for owning both witcher 1 & 2, when they are only registered on steam?
I guess you could just take their serial numbers and activate those games on GOG as well... But then that's probably the only place where you could buy the game with a discount.

The first and second are completely different, and they haven't said/shown how the third will be.

Actually.. they have said. They said the combat will be similar to Arkham games and there will be a learning curve. They tried to do W2 combat as Demons Souls/Dark souls and they realized it was really brutal/not fitting for their game.

I dont have a link right now, but Im pretty sure I read it on W3 forums.

This is some sort of parody post right? Because apart from the nice textures, TW2 has none of that. It's a DX9 game, with bad animation, horrible shadow dithering, and worse facial rigs.

Looks good in screens though.

Aren't you familiar with Chinner? Parody posts are pretty much 90% of his output
and I love him for that
.
Also I would't really describe faces and animations in The Witcher 2" as "bad or worse". Not the top tier in the industry, for sure, but absolutely respectable.

You seriously think the PS4 version will run better than on your PC?

Here's the interview I was able to find:

It’s really tough to describe the combat system, as it is something you have to play and experience for yourself to fully understand. We’re definitely looking at a more fluid combat system with Wild Hunt, where attacking an enemy feels more natural and smooth, unlike older games where you had to lock onto enemies constantly.
What we saw in Batman: Arkham Asylum is a very cool system, and I don’t want to draw any comparisons, but that’s definitely part of the motivation for us. I can make gamers a promise that combat in The Witcher 3 is already fun and that we’re constantly balancing it till we hit that sweet spot.

So they are taking some inspiration from Batman but it sounds like its a very loose association. I'm happy to hear that since Arkham combat doesn't hold up well in boss encounters, and it sounds like monster hunting will be a big part of the game.

Damn. Not only does GOG offer Witcher 3 at a 10% preorder discount, but owning Witcher 1 and 2 bring that preorder discount to 20% off!

Preordered instantly.

GOG's bonuses are awesome, too. (THANKS FOR THE AVATAR, GOG!)

The two improvements I am hoping for visuals:
better animations
better camera

The camera in TW2 was downright goofy at times.

Something in the last frames of this scene.

Looks like the same creature in this image:
http://i.minus.com/in92wbulM17lo.jpg

As for why it can fly:

"Geralt may encounter mermaids who are dangerous in the water and can transform into hostile flying creatures. "They won't just hover somewhere next to you like in Baldur's Gate," says Platkow-Gilewski. "They will really fly around you, and they are really, really ugly."

You heard it here first... thats not a dude behind the mask... it's the hottest bitch in existence. That's a chastity belt for the face.

Could be a black dude, I don't think the series has many (or any?), and it would be nice to see a badass bald black guy with those graphics.
