The Phil Spencer podcast is going be be great. That guy has always struck me as being able to riff with the GB crew.

The internet's a funny old place, could you imagine if such an inane and pointless argument happened between two dudes in a public place?

It'd happen all the same. The only difference is that the conversation wouldn't be digitally recorded for all to witness every single time they walk by hoping to have an entirely separate conversation.

Just hoping the guests they have don't stick too hard to the company line (like MS last year) and relax a bit around the GB crew.

Made these during PAX, purely because they'll make great E3 GIFS.

I hope so. I'm not expecting him (not want him) to be in full mea culpa mode for XONE's missteps, but just to show that there are humans at MS who can hold a conversation without pushing their talking points.

I may catch flak for "it being sad" but I always make sure to have some holiday time saved up for E3 week so I don't have to worry about stuff like this.

I worked OT specifically with this week in mind. Didn't take an outright payout. Converted it to work hours and allotted them to my work days for this week.

Basically it'll be as though I worked my normal hours for this week, will get paid for them, but don't actually have to go to work.

Wait -- they are livechatting during the conferences, right? Does that mean those livechatting WON'T be at the actual live event? Who is going to be sitting out from the livechats?

From what it sounds like, none of them are going to the conferences.

Jesus, that's equal parts insane and hilarious.

I'm going to pretend it was Jeff's decision because he becomes more of a cynical bitter fuck every year (which is one of the main reasons I love him). Can't wait for 2024's E3 when GiantBomb devolves into covering the event in late August

No, it has nothing to do with cynicism. It makes sense seeing that the thing is being livestreamed pretty well, so there is zero reason to actually be there in person. They are actually providing coverage that their audience wants instead of jack fucking shit.

The trave logue last year shows how much of a pain it was seeing all of the conferences. But tradition is tradition. :( Of anyone I feel it would bother jeff the most.

I doubt its that really,

If Gamespot is doing a stream plus all the official feeds. What's the point of them taking Drew and Vinny all the way there to set up for the same feed.

When they could have everyone sit in a room and just talking show over the conferences live.

I don't know if it's cynicism that's keeping them from going to the press conferences in person. If you look at it pragmatically there's no real benefit to being there since they get to see all of the important games behind closed doors during the show anyways.

Doesn't anyone remember what happened to Adam Sessler last year? The man looked like he was on a 3 week meth binge by the time E3 was over. Can't blame them for not going.

If I remember correctly it was because wasn't getting any sleep each night due to going out for drinks and socialising and not being able to sleep when he came to go to bed, had to drink tons of caffeine to deal with the load. Some said he was taking others substances to get through it, but that was just hearsay.

The only thing to gain for sitting in the audience is getting an accurate gauge of the energy of the reactions first hand.

Jeff was there last year and while it was fun when he was recounting how it felt being in the crowd during the no DRM reaction there wasn't that much else he gained that the others didn't get being off site.

That's an odd conclusion to come to. They're likely doing it because the PS4 and XBox One reveal streams were well liked and it's a lot of work to set up and record something they use minutes of footage from, if even. I've been wondering why they even do it for the last 2 years. "Because this is how we've always done it." seemed like the only valid answer. Didn't make much sense to me for a smaller niche site with so few staff members.

This is a much better and more entertaining use of their time, if you ask me. Jeff recounting people going out of control over Kingdom Hearts 3 was funny, but I definitely prefer this.

Yeah, really no good reason to be in the actual audience when streaming it and being able to react live and drawing in more traffic is superior. Looking forward to it.

I am really really new to GB, but I am loving it. Their personalities gel so well, and they cover games right... quick looks is exactly what I was looking for. I look forward to their E3 coverage.

Want to know this too. Do mixlr things get archived?

A user is currently uploading an archive of the drive in two parts, however Jeff will also be uploading the mixlr stream when he has the opportunity and that version won't have any audio cuts due to spotty mobile coverage.

Oh boy, you have years worth of material to sift through if you're up for it. I'm sure someone in this thread can set you up with some of their best videos/quick looks.
