the game should have been cancelled years ago. how can a studio take an entire generation to produce a game and still have nothing to show for it?

This is probably all a lie for the eventual release of the game.

It'll get a 6.5 average from most sites but a 10.3 from IGN somehow.

Given the gravitas of the tone and the position of these two people, it does seem pretty official. I'm not sure the Editor in Chief would post something like this without adding "rumour" if they weren't confident about it.

And thus the thread title:

"The Last Guardian cancelled - Stage One: Denial"

Yeah but they just did the same thing with Druckmann forcing out Hennig, there's the chance that they are wrong.

None of it matters, wait till E3.

they've released two games as "team ico", but remember that team ico is within the bigger studio japan. the members of team ico have been involved in many other projects from studio japan.

Ueda has only completed those two games after joining Sony.

If true, I wonder how much money they wasted on it. It also brings up the question to whether anyone would ever want to work with Ueda ever again.

It's amazing how little pain I feel. Guess I gave up hope a long time ago. I'm okay. I wonder if the grief will crash later though? :)

I don't believe it.

At Sony's press conference, they'll say "The Last Guardian is no longer in development... because it went gold last week and will be released to retail the first week of July!"

Right, they are saying they announced this information internally recently, I am guessing they would have multiple sources with this level of information. I have heard Steve Butts say that these types of rumors only get reported when at least 2 independent sources confirm them.

Thanks to Wario64, and some other Gaffers (sorry the thread grows too fast rapidly)

Here's the screenshot of the tweet and the article for posterity purposes. It might be official, it might be not. Let's wait for the confirmation.

Hahahaha. This has to be one of the worst pre-E3 weeks in a while with the exception of the Witcher 3 trailer.

The funny thing is that (at least in my Twitter feed) the majority of tweets about TLG being canceled are from IGN employees linking to the article, interspersed with other peoples' reactions.

I hope Sony gives out free tissues at the theaters as you walk in. There will likely be some grown men crying if Last Guardian cancellation is mentioned on stage.

Or they might pull the Last Guardian is cancelled then turn around and announce Ico 3: Fumito's Revenge.

I doubt this is legit, why in the world would they announce such bad news so close to E3 and ruin the momentum and give fans in 40 theater locations a chance to rage in a group against Sony. Something is definitely off here..

I called it. All those people that have been defending Team ICO all this time can kindly eat crow.

Several people have been advocating for Team ICO to be given the boot, the issue is Sony sounded like it was able to complete the project before firing them all.

So it's safe to say Sony absolutely positively didn't want this to be leaked right?

I mean who takes a game off the table at E3?

Do that later in an off period

Sorry that so many people likely have their hopes crushed as a result of this, but it will be nice that the "Last Guardian at E3" stuff is finally behind us (if this is true)
