They're both right.

Sony has canceled the game.

Nintendo has bought Ueda and his team, as well as the rights, and will be finishing it on the Wii U.

So it is prophesied.

They said it was "officially cancelled." You do not, under any circumstance, label a rumor as official confirmation for a piece of news that big. That wasn't just a "woops, we forgot something," minor mistake. A higher-up at Sony is directly refuting their "official" source. That's just plain garbage journalism.

Additionally, they don't seem to have posted an update, retraction, apology for fucking the pooch, or anything like that. I normally wouldn't be one to grab a pitchfork, but that's a whole new level of shitty games journalism.

Well this has been fascinating. All the writer had to do was just put the word "Rumor" in there and he would've been fine.

IGN gonna update the story anytime soon?
