Does the GB video player allow you to rewind livestreams while they are still going on? I'll be getting home around half way through Microsoft's conference tomorrow but would like to be able to watch the GB coverage straight from the beginning. I seem to remember it being a feature of the new player but I never used it so am not sure.

Yes, but if they restart the stream between conferences, it 'erases' the previous video, so you'll have to catch it while it's still on.

The only down side is we wont know if someone falls over like when Kingdom hearts 3 was announced.
I can't see anything like that happening unless Shenmue 3/HL3 was announced/revealed.

They don't need to. There's more value in them watching the livestreams and talking over them, because that equals content for the site, with the benefit of a lot less stress on Vinny and Drew's part.
Because they likely decided the value of attending wasn't worth the trouble, when you get pretty much the same experience watching a stream, and Gamespot is doing all the direct capture stuff already and they can use that. In addition, their fan base has shown that they like watching their live reactions to the conferences, so they can generate new unique content at the same time.
Also means their shit won't get stolen again.
Fair enough, that's cool. I don't think I'll be watching their stream at first though as it would be hard to concentrate while pissing your pants.
I had a predictions podcast pop up in instacast on my phone earlier today but when i tried to play it it went away. it might be possible that someone has an embargo busting file sitting in their itunes unaware if it was up for any amount of time.

Exactly what they did with the PS4/XB1 reveals, if I remember correctly. Smart choice. Personally I love hearing what they have to say as it happens. You sometimes miss out on the details of what's going on in the press conferences, but they're exactly that: press conferences. They're usually pretty droll and not all that interesting. GB gives it some flavour.
