PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Two questions, GAF:

1. I have a Vita. I don't have P4G. Crazy, right? That being said, I honestly cannot think of a genre more "not my thing" than JRPG. Should I just leave it be?

2. NFS Rivals is half-price on the AU store. I'm a fan of arcade racers, but I'm guessing that the AU community is all but dead for this game now. Worth it purely as an SP game?

Thanks, all.

The only RPG's I have played were the Mario ones and KH's before Persona 4 Golden, so I took the gamble and bought that and Persona 3 Portable during a sale last month.....now I am on my FOURTH playthrough (thinking about starting another one XD) of Golden...and I just got it last month and have clocked in almost 150 hours into the game...get the game man, you will NOT regret it :D.

It has a wonderful story, vivid visuals (with all the 2D art, menus and Anime Cut Scenes at Native Res while the game itself is its native PS2 resolution of I think 360p at Wide Screen), killer soundtrack, many different difficulty modes (easy is perfect for anyone new to these types of games), tight gameplay and its just in general a great feeling game :). It is well worth its 30 dollar digital price (and I think you can get it cheaper if you get the retail version used or something...) :D.

As for Need for Speed Rivals, it is more or less like NFS: Most Wanted (2012); open world racing game with lots of cars to unlock, races to complete and world to explore. Never played the game but it is one of the better launch games of the new generation and it runs quite good on PS4 :). If you like racers, then it is good buy.

If youre not very into the battles, do an easy difficulty playthrough, so youll do less grinding and speed up dungeons. Other than not jrpg.... Do you like dating sims/ mystery games?

No more ports gosh darn it. New KH game if a KH has to come to the Vita.

a New KH on vita is likely in the future but i dont hope for it in this E3. Announcement of 1.5 hd on Vita would be incredible but please put bluepoint working on this ports.

E3 for Vita would be good enough for me if : GR2 english trailer and vita release would be confirmed, a new racing game(not a kart game) please eny new announcement regarding this genre would be good, i mean PSP was almost heaven regarding the racing genre on portable devices. Another title i would expect for Vita would be FFXII HD announcement(not likely) or any square enix new and exclusive game on the platform. More XSEED and NISA goodness. New Bend game for Vita. And a few niche games would be good too.

Give me inFamous Vita or Gravity Rush 2 and I'll be happy.
I'll get none

If it does happen it wont happen until after 3 so we could be waiting awhile. I'd honestly be content with 1.5 and 2.5 on the Vita seeing as how that's most of the series bar DDD and 3.

A port of 2.5 remix won't really be a port, considering Birth By Sleep SHOULD be on Vita to being with :l (...why isn't this on PSN by this point...)

Both the 1.5 and 2.5 remixes would be perfect on Vita though; Square can use their experence on the FFX/X-2 remaster for this (plus Sony can get BluePoint or Sanzaru to help with the port; they know how to make great ports on Vita as shown with PS All Stars/Sly Thieves in Time/Sly Collection Vita :D) and they would be perfect on Vita to boot (RPGs are just better portable for some reason).

Besides, it would be more cost effect for them to do this rather than a brand new game.....Sony seems to think this at least :( (explaining the God of War and Jak Collections :l).

If you plug your Vita 1000 into a standard USB port for charging and play it, it draws enough juice to replace what you use - but not charge the Vita's battery up. You can charge, or you can play - but not at the same time unless you're using one of the specialized "high output" USB ports or a USB wall charger/car charger.

As for how long it shuts off after it forces itself off, it actually seems to depend on how much energy you're drawing when it dies and what you're charging it with - I've seen it come "back to life" as quick as 5 minutes from a force-off, or as long as 30.

Thanks.

I've had it plugged into my laptop for almost three hours and it still won't turn on. I'll leave it for the night; if it still won't turn on in the morning, I guess I'll have to completely drain the battery.

That's not normal, have you tried forcing it off then on? (Hold power for thirty seconds?)

What makes you think it's likely? IMO, it's the opposite as Nomura had acknowledged years ago that "BbS Vol. 2" was "shelved" (better term - canned). KH3 will end the Xehanort arc, and if they're going to start a new arc, it's more likely to be where KH3 was.

If there's going to be an exclusive Square Enix title for Vita, there are two stronger candidates - Dissidia and Type-X (where X is any non-negative integer
yes, I miss school :(
).

Recently, there's a voice in Squeenix that they want to make a Dissidia successor. Though I honestly think that it's more likely to be for PS3 (or multiplat).

On the other hand, the Reishiki/Type-0 successors (no longer part of HEY! I HAVE FABULOUS CRYSTALS!) was the dream a few years back. There were intents to make it as a spin-off series (think Persona). Not sure if that dream is already dead, and will be severely disappointed if the only trace left of it was the smartphone game Agito.

Yeah but being brutally realistic that isn't going to happen in a million years. There's a precedent for SE porting HD games over with FFX, though considering the KH games haven't been sold digitally yet it's probably unlikely.

Lol show me a decent 3D indie platformer on Vita?

If anything I agree and think the Vita needs more 3D platformers. What we've got in the recent past so far is a bit of an over-represented catalogue of dungeon crawlers and hunting games which while great isn't much of a variety.

First perfect on an extreme song in Miku.

HexdRCs.jpg

I was about to hate you for getting a perfect on extreme.

Until I realized you cheated.

Finished God of War I last month and God of War II this month on the PS Vita my good fellow GAFfers.

Regarding GoW I I had some trophies that did not unlock and they were glitched. It's okay since it was just one or two and I don't care much about them to repeat the game but for those collecting them beware (it seems the PS3 version is also affected?). I did not had any serious frame drops and it was an enjoyable experience. It's a shame the the cut-scenes do not fill the entire screen and I wish they could have done a better work on those for both games. Aside of that I still think they are very enjoyable to watch.

Regarding GoW II did experienced one or two occasional frame drops when I had too many enemies and fire effects were all over the place. The intro to this game is so good and overall it was a better game than the first GoW. I did not had a single trophy glitch for those that care.

In end it was great to replay these games after a long time (specially God of War II since I replayed the first last year). The soundtrack is simply amazing, it's really good. :)

I was just on the playstation store browsing, and I noticed that the unlock times for ps4 preorder times is at midnight pacific time. I wish they did it nintendo's way where all their midnight launch games come out at midnight eastern time. Do you guys think sony will ever change this? I preordered destiny on psn, but I don't want to wait another two hours (central time) to play the game with my friends who will probably pick up physical copies of the game. Twitter campaign!!

Man i'm so sad, for various reasons i will probably able to only watch the MS conference(in Italy the Sony conference will be at 3:00 am)
In before "Sony conference will be so sad for Vita that it's better to not watch it"

Hotaru no Nikki gameplay:

That chase at the end. Intense.
And the missy is just too cute.
Huge Dokuro vibes, i don't remember, is it from the same developers?

There's still a lot of room for more turn-based dungeon crawlers. I think we got two so far?

Dokuro is from GungHo, and Hotaru is from Nippon Icchi (the Disgaea people).

Never managed to beat Dokuto (maybe I didn't even make it halfway). My patience ran out or something. But will surely grab this N1 game if it makes it out of Japan.

edit: as for E3, I expect a release date for Freedom Wars and release window for Oreshika 2.

My new charger hasn't arrived yet :(

I can't beat Persona 4: Golden. I can't beat games.

I think I'm gonna try out Spelunky even though I have it on PC.

That's not the game I'd choose if I'm depressed because I can't beat something.

My Vita is clean unlike your PornStation Vita :^)

Buying a second hand Vita in Japan must be scaaary.

So Vita GAF, any expectations for the conference tonight?

I expect GR2 and FW trailers, Minecraft bundle, and maybe that Infamous game Mortimer talked about.

FF type0 would be a megaton

I expect nothing. I don't want to be disapointed. But I know that I'll get angry when I see SCEA has ignored the Vita.
.. again

There's still a lot of room for more turn-based dungeon crawlers. I think we got two so far?

Outside 2D stuff the genre more populated is Hunting Action. We've got Ragnarok Odyssey + Ace, Soul Sacrifice + Delta and Toukiden. And there is Freedom Wars later this year (Fall?).

Can't wait for Oreshika and Tales of Hearts (more JRPG exclusive goodness) to hit the system. Even if people say the latter is not that good I know I'd love some Linear Motion Battle System on my Vita.

I hope for Type 0 Vita, if not i'll play it on PSP with the patch. I don't care if the Vita version will be announced later, if Square doesn't announce it at e3 they have definitively lost my money.

Ok thanks :)

I expect that the slew of announcements that we saw towards the tail end of last week is our E3. I'm going to temper my expectations, and just look forward to PS4 stuffs.

That said, we’ve taken a more holistic view with our platforms. With Remote Play, Vita has now essentially become an extender or an enhancer for the main platform for other rooms in the house, or when someone else wants to use the main screen. As the lifecycle of the platform progresses, there’s an opportunity to position Vita for a younger audience as well with the appropriate franchises.

RIP Vita announcements :(

Anyone knows where to find downloadable file with Sony conference tomorrow in the morning without getting spoiled on everything ?

It will air at 3am in here so too late to stay away too early to wake up :)

There is a spoiler free thread on GAF. Give it a look tomorrow

Here's hoping that Sony announces something cool at today's conference that's "available right now on PSN!".

Nintendo seems to do it quite often, but can't remember if Sony's ever done something similar.

Well most important kh games came out on PlayStation platforms only and i mean kh 1,2,3 and now 4 . on ds there is 2 kh and 1 on 3ds only one. Psp had its kh late on its cycle of life plus was after ff crisis core , according to squeenix ffxhd did well con both vita and ps3. By the time ps4 has kh4 vita will have a bigger install base and lots of ps4 bundles with vita included so its likely that on the future the company will satisfy as well vitafans we will get another portable spinoff

We will get at most a port. With a few outliers like Bravely Default and Kingdom Hearts 3D (arguably commissioned on the strength of the DS and perceived future success of the 3DS), SE don't do portables like they used to.

They did that with the Final Fantasy VII PSone Classics release IIRC.

KH4? Incpdo, at the rate Square Enix is going, Vita will have been discontinued for ten years before that game comes out.

I don't see Square Enix, or any major third party publisher, developing expensive original content for Vita, especially if they're playing up a global audience. Vita's only relevant in Japan and that's just barely. In the US it's selling at a level where you'd expect a successor to have been out for two years.

My bad haha i meant 1,2 and now 3 . im pretty sure nobody imagine bbs when was presented so... Pretty sure will happen the same here but probably in a few years. Nomura is a strange man and im pretty sure At some point Sony will get kh to be relesed con vita . lets be honest high or low poly kh series is a very recycled one assets wise , i can see ddd assets on a ps vita turning into a new game with higher resolution. Predictions about PSP in its 2nd and 3rd year where pretty much the same as vita right now. Vita has no ganes was equal ti the PSP has no exclusivities

Here, let me help filling the bottom of the page with something really stupid:
I'm holding off buying a Vita memory card because of E3. Come laugh at me.

The stupidest part about that comment is that you think its stupid. :p

Chances are low, but if we are talking about a 24hour wait for a possible smaller announcement, sure why not. Could happen.
