PS Vita TV coming to West as Playstation TV, $99

Not that I'm saying it'll perform well or anything, but it has way more point in the US (the land of second TVs and car-based commutes) than in Japan.

It definitely will not.

nevermind, i guess a vita tv isn't worth it then. i figured dangan ronpa would be fine since it started as psp series.

The bundle is a great option for a holiday gift. Especially for younger people when you don't want to buy them own PS4, get them this instead, save a lot of money and it's compatible with the PS4 you may get one day.

I disagree. It has a much more limited library of games that were never meant to be displayed on a HDTV. You still spend $140 or so for the system and a tiny memory card. Why not spend a little more and get way more features, games, and hardware power?

Most of the Vita games I'm interested in are not supported on this thing so I'll probably end up passing and just getting Vita.

Handhelds are better than TV's anyway.

Is there a source for this?

I know they said it, but that was in the past.

また、PS Vita TVでは、ワイヤレスコントローラー(DULASHOCK 4)での操作に対応いたします

pretty neat that they're bringing it over.

would be nice as a portable console to hook up when you travel around, i suppose. cheap enough to be that, for sure.

i dont think i have a use for it at the moment, though.

Finally confirmed. hopefully the PSTV can pull decent numbers, anything to improve overall Vita sales is a good thing (yes it's a vita still).

Can't wait to get this, gonna be great for using PS4 in multiple rooms without shuffling it around. Also works great as a roku type device.

Day 1 buy. Might wait to play some of the RPGs I bought on it and are on my back log (Conception 2, Demon Gaze, Mind Zero) until it comes out. If they work on it anyways.

Hopefully there's a good Black Friday sale on Vita Memory Cards again this year. Or can I just swap my Vita's current card into it and back easily?

Step 1: Re-brand Vita TV as Playstation TV
Step 2: Sell millions
Step 3: ???? Profit!
Step 4: Re-brand PS Vita as Playstation TV Portable
Step 5: Sell millions
Step 6: ??? MORE PROFIT!

hmm how many bluetooth controllers would this allow?

I hope this allows me to play Sportsfriends in the living room so I don't have to shift the PS4 every time.

Well, one thing is that it makes more sense to launch a product like this in the west than the hilarious decision to launch this thing in Japan.

But I think it's going to be an extreme niche product, despite them trying to distance it from the Vita brand and everything. It's obviously nice for some hardcore fans to get the chance to play some of their favorite games on a larger screen. But at the end of the day it's a Vita that's not portable, that does not even support the entire Vita library, and that you need an extra (DS3) controller to play.

It would've made much more sense to just make a remodeled Vita with HDMI out, in my opinion.

my thoughts as well, it's finally time to get a Vita
TV lolol

Iota laughs at you.

Thank god the Puzzle by Nikoli series is available. Surely they'll add more compatible games once it's available in NA. What would make a Vita game not compatible with Vita TV?

i hope this is region free unlike the jp vita tv. half my libray on vita is imports.
The jp vita tv isn't region locked technically. They just don't allow us/eu accounts because it was never released there. It comes up with an error saying the vita tv store isn't available or something. Same for any games that didn't work, the patches were never done for them because it wasn't released there. Thus I can't see the western version being region locked either.

Good thing they skipped Vita in the product name, but I'm shocked they didn't mention it at all in the features: "it plays PS3 and PS1 games from the PSN, PS4 remote play in another room and it will work with PS Now".

And the "Lego the movie" game, really?

It definitely will not.

Why do you say it definitely will not? Dangan Ronpa was one of the games I DEFINITELY remember they said will work on Vita Tv when it first was announced in Japan soo...

Did Vita molested some SCEA boss' son? Man SCEA seems to really hate Vita, but at the same time it's incredibly stupid too!

The "Playstation TV" name is the worst thing ever not only as a great lover of Vita, if you want to ditch "Vita" than replace it with a fitting name, honestly if you didn't know about Vita Tv what would you think a "Playstation Tv" is? A PS1 console? A Playstation branded Tv receiver? "Tv" alone is utterly stupid because as a home console the tv is already implicit, "Tv" made sense in "Vita Tv" because Vita is a handheld.

Yeah, but people know what playstation is, they probably won't know what a vita is. I also don't think they'll be marketing it as a way to play vita games. More likely to push it as a streaming device for ps4 multi room and PS now which does have the option to play some vita games on the side.

I know, but don't you think that all those things would be more effective with a better name? "Playstation Tv" is just confusing, Sony will need half of the very few advertising to explain what it is and the result will probably be not that better than what Nintendo gained adding a "U" to "Wii".
Something like "Playstation Universe/Legacy/Media/All In One/Whatever Hub" or something similar would have been a lot better.

I think the PS Camera being such a insane seller for the PS4 at least gives Sony hope that the Vita TV would help boost sales by piggybacking on the PS4.

Then they can use the leverage of extra Vita TVs sold to convince more devs to put games on it, like they already did with Disney Infinity 2. Disney Infinity 2, Minecraft and a few other indie games would be pretty much a perfect christmas gift if SCEA advertised it right.
