E3 2014 | Nintendo Digital Event

So, the amiibo toys seem to be the most important part of this event?
I guess it's clear which direction Nintendo is aiming for, and it's ok for me.

Zelda got me excited, but the rest was a little to meh for me. I don't think they won this E3. That could go to either MS or Sony. Maybe some summaries can help decide...

Whether you think Nintendo won E3 based on it's games (a hint, it did, but even if you don't think so) can we at least admit that Nintendo won for most entertaining "conference"?

They left out a lot of megatons from the event, including Star Fox and Devil's Third. I think we will get plenty of 3DS announcements over the next few hours/days.

There's hope for Majora's yet!

I hope so, they simply let 3DS without one single game announcement... hopefully they will show something for 3DS

  • Miis and new characters in new Smash
  • Nintendo enters Skylanders/Disney Infinity business
  • Hyrulewarriors seems nice but nothing special
  • Also Yoshi and Kirby meh
  • Zelda concept trailer is still a concept trailer and the last concept was at least playable
  • and looked in my opinion better
  • Squids look good but I doubt it will last for long
  • Mario Maker seems like a poor mans Project Spark/Little Big Planet
  • Miyamoto still developing... something
  • No commitment to 3rd party except Bayonetta and Xenoblade
  • No commitment to Indies!!!

The format is great but what they have shown is quite disappointing and you have to be a hardcore Nintendo fan to ignore it.

Ubi: B-
MS: C+
Sony: C+
Nintendo: C
EA: D-

I didn't really like the art-style of Splatoon, but Nintendo made a shooting game that actually looks interesting, so many cool new mechanics. The spirit of de Blob lives on :)

Nintendo had a pretty good conference this year IMO. No megatons unfortunately, but it covered everything I wanted to see. Too bad, if they had announced SMTxFE (probably dead), Metroid, Starfox(WITH A TRAILER), or Pokken they woulda rocked E3.

Welp, Nintendo wins E3.

Amiibo seems forced, as far as Smash bros goes. They're selling it like "Haven't you ever wanted your figures to fight each other? Now you can" .. Hm.. Isn't that what Smash Bros has been the whole time? The entire series is about taking your favorite characters/toys and having them battle.

Why should I purchase a Mario figure so that I can have Mario fight my friends? I can just play as him myself.

This is a concept that could exist without figurines and spending more money.

If you could do this with characters that weren't playable in the game, it would give the figurines so much more value, especially since it wouldn't be something you could play as yourself. There'd be a reason for it.

I'm psyched about that Clay Kirby game. I have been waiting aeons for more games with a clay style. Finally.. thank you Nintendo. Normally I wouldn't even be interested in this type of Kirby game, but man, looks fantastic in clay.

I wouldn't grade Nintendo yet. Devil's Third just got announced, and Miyamoto's revealing all his stuff in a couple hours

The Legend of Zelda Wii U shown and looks beautiful
Xenoblade Chronicles X titled
Yoshi's Wooly World announced for Wii U
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse announced for Wii U
Mario Maker announced for Wii U
Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker announced for Wii U
Splatoon announced for Wii U
Star Fox teased for Wii U
Devil's Third announced for Wii U
Bayonetta 2 includes Bayonetta 1 for free, dated for October
Nintendo Amiibo NFC toy figures work across games including Mario Kart 8
Hyrule Warriors dated for September
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire dated for November

Nintendo won E3?

Pretty much yea.

People seriously getting hyped over Mario Maker and Paletuna? A trailer for Uncharted, no matter how CG, is just infinitely more exciting.
would be personal preference but there were other showings palutena and mario maker are the less interesting ones (kirby canvas curse sequel however...)

X and Zelda Wooooooow! Excellent showing! Now where's my SMTxFE and Advance Wars 5 3DS?

EDIT: forgot about that Kirby! Canvas Curse was my favourite Kirby! So happy!

I liked the presentation, and I thought Zelda looked beautifu.

WHY did you have to make it cel shaded again? Haven't we made it clear we like the realistic style better?

I'd rather have cel shaded. I'm tired of "realistic" graphics that looks so digital, so fake, they don't look real at all.

And a style like this will still look great 10 years from now.

Watching Devil's Third for Wii U on the IGN feed. Very cool and "mature." They should have included this in the main Digital Event. It would have been the cherry on top.

Whether you think Nintendo won E3 based on it's games (a hint, it did, but even if you don't think so) can we at least admit that Nintendo won for most entertaining "conference"?
I don't really agree with the first part, I don't think there's really a standout in that regard, but I'll agree to the latter. None of the others had whimsy.

Jesus what's wrong with GAF, I liked getting to listen to nintendo devs.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be hyped when I can't even hear the games or see them because I'm having to listen to them and read subtitles between them cutting back and forth between the devs.

How is anybody supposed to focus on anything with that?

It was pretty hilarious, actually.

Let's keep in mind that Nintendo did bring us Mother 2 last year. And out of the two jokes that Nintendo made with the person in the audience yelling, Mother 3 and Starfox, Starfox has been leaked. Mother 3 is still in the cards and, if nothing else, Nintendo realizes that people want it.

No its actually pretty sad. Nintendo has absolutely nothing. Star fox is a demo that will be included in the other robot games. 4 seconds of zelda nothing to show. Nintendo is dead.
