E3 2014 | Nintendo Digital Event

+ Zelda looks good
+ X looks like a downgrade but still good
+ Captain Toad looks pretty fun
+ Bayonetta 2 includes 1

- Pokemon looks blend
- Mario Maker and Splatoon looks fine, but Nintendo will ruin them by charging $60
- Micro transactions (Amiibo), but at least this is physical

B+ overall

Sony: nothing interesting except Bloodborne, but good to know PS Now and PS TV. B-

Microsoft: never interested in MS console, don't care about Halo or other FPS. Pacing is good though. C+

EA: Annual sport title zzzzz F

Ubisoft: Nothing really interest me, but not bad. B-

So far, only Nintendo and Sony has any day 1 game. (X, Zelda and Bloodborne)

On twitter, pretty impressive:

Yeah... how disappointing.
I wanted something more like this:

I find the new art style more interesting than Twilight Princess HD.

I would score Sony slightly above MS, just because of No Man's Sky, which is the most interesting game I've seen at any E3 in a loooooong time. However, they opened with Destiny, which I still think looks boring and shitty. Their first party games still underwhelm compared to what Microsoft had. So give Sony a 7/10.

What are these great first party MS games?

People actually thought Nintendo did a bad job? What, really? WTF did ya'll want from them?

For me:

Sony: B+
Microsoft: A
Nintendo: A+
EA: F
Ubisoft: C+

Do note. I'm never ever going to buy an Xbox One. But Scalebound really impressed me, and Project Spark looks better than LBP3. I don't like Microsoft, so I guess I watched their conference expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised. While I've been a fan of Sony since the PS1 and was kinda let down by the games they showed off and the lack of interesting surprises. (No love for Bloodborne.)

Nintendo's conference was just...nice. More of that "games only" philosophy we've seen this E3.

So the main criticisms of Sony and MS were;

1.) Too much 2015
2.) Too much non-gameplay trailers
3.) Too long spent talking about certain things

Are people fine with those things from Nintendo all of a sudden?

Hooly shit

Bayo 1 megaton

Open World Zelda straight into all of my veins

Pleased as fuck

The Legend of Zelda Wii U shown and looks beautiful
Xenoblade Chronicles X titled
Yoshi's Wooly World announced for Wii U
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse announced for Wii U
Mario Maker announced for Wii U
Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker announced for Wii U
Splatoon announced for Wii U
Star Fox teased for Wii U
Devil's Third announced for Wii U
Bayonetta 2 includes Bayonetta 1 for free, dated for October
Nintendo Amiibo NFC toy figures work across games including Mario Kart 8
Hyrule Warriors dated for September
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire dated for November

Nintendo won E3?

Still more to add:

Mario Party 10 revealed for Wii U
Fantasy Life announced for 3DS from Level 5

Splatoon I'm actually stupid excited for.

Hearing Hyrule effectively being as large as Skyrim is a huge plus, and Devils Third, Mario Party 10 and Captain Toad's adventures are a huge plus.

But where are people saying Nintendo DIrect is happening in a few weeks? Or is that just pattern?

Nintendo was really good. Sad that most of it was for 2015 though. People need to keep in mind that everything that Nintendo showed is exclusive to Nintendo, unlike the pressers from Microsoft and Sony.

I don't care if it's exclusive, I care if it exists for the platform.

Nintendo gets an E- from me. They're completely disconnected from the market, totally niche and uninspired.

IMHO, there's literally no reason for a seperate Nintendo console at this point. You shouldn't have to buy an extra console to play just one special sort of content.

That's like Marvel only shipping all of their content on a Marvel disk, that can only be played exclusively using the Marvel Player.

GAMEPLAY GAMEPLAY GAMEPLAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
FANTASY LIFE THIS OCTOBER!!!

According to Miyamoto, we will see the actual Star Fox U next year. This makes me feel a bit better. I hope they do not force the motion controls on it though. Either way, at least it is not that bad of a tease.

People are seriously glancing over the fact that we still have the Tree House+Smash Invitational+Future Nintendo Directs. I don't think nintendo has even begun to blow there load. Based on the presentations they are clearly listening to what the fans are saying and wouldn't be surprised if we see some of those "where is____?" games later this year.

That's what I was thinking, I came away thinking "lot of cool stuff, for NEXT YEAR"

I must have missed the part where Uncharted 4 was announced for XB1, PC and Wii U.

lol In terms of catering to Nintendo fans who already own Wii Us, they dd a great job showing games. For those of us still sitting on the fence waiting, nothing shown really convinced me to pull the trigger and I think that's what really is going to be the pea in the mattress for Nintendo.

Open world Zelda looked really nice. The only thing that i liked in the event.

One of the stronger E3 presences they have had. Really dug almost everything announced.

Amiibo seems undercooked though and Smash has gotten dull to watch without new info on modes and features at this point. My personal low points. Oh and Smash is still stuck with those placeholder names? At least X got proper branding.

The Zelda discussion was filled with all the right talking points. Nintendo is slowly bringing me back into the fold for sure.

Wow, great show from Nintendo. I was thoroughly impressed. Nintendo lost me after the last two e3's but this one was fantastic. Loved the skits, loved the pacing, loved the games they showed. Now I just want to see more of them all.
