DRIVECLUB gets actual weather effects, screenshots inside

Awesome news and looks stunning. But as i said with the FF Type 0 news, it's really weird that this wasn't also shown during the conference. I agree that the game shouldn't be shown again during the E3 conference, but the weather effects are real news, so it should have at least been part of one of the trailers show reel.

This is my feeling too. Even with the b-roll, Fh2 looks more basic in the lighting and even the rain - almost makes the roads look too smooth and reflective. DC has a much more natural texture in the road when wet.

As it stands (having only seen video and not heard hands-on impressions), I'm confident that Fh2 will have great handling and be fun to play (based on FH1), but the graphics aren't quite up to DC. For Driveclub, I'm certain it'll be the prettiest racing game we see this year, but I need my fingers crossed on how well the cars will drive, and how much fun it will be to play. While I have faith in Evo, impressions from last year weren't great, so I'm slightly wary.

Yea, thing is that Drive Club seems like a fun and easy to play circuit racer like PGR3/4 with gorgeous lighting. It looks and sounds good but it looks like a super focused thing. I'm hoping there's more to the multiplayer than simple racing and battling scores though. Some of the best stuff in Horizon weren't races at all and were more like mapwide coop easter egg hunts.

Looks decent but Forza Horizon 2 still looks quite a bit better. I suppose we'll see which is best when they're out, but I'm leaning towards Forza here.

Even for a low quality stream....that looks too good. I thought I heard him say, drive from rain and into snow or something like that. Good stuff.

Perhaps talking was the wrong word to use, they've mentioned in a few times in videos that popped up during the re-reveal last month.

Ah, yes. They were referring to the atmospheric conditions/lighting and dynamic cloud formation when referring to weather. Rain was never confirmed until today with these new batch of screenshots; they only mentioned they were experimenting with rain and snow but it might not make into the final game.

And what you are leaning on is going to crumble underneath the best looking racer BY FAR that we have ever seen on consoles. Forza don't hold a damn candle to this one in the GFX department.

And these guys ain't even done yet. Incredible. Evo is known to push things like crazy in the last two months. Good lord. Preordered. Sony, stop taking 60 dollars from me. I never pay this for games!

Looks are subjective, if Horizon looks better to me then it looks better to me, and to me it looks far better.

Also, with Forza you have franchise that we've already played/established, we know how it plays and the sequel isn't going to stray far from that. Driveclub is a newcomer and the only thing we have to go on is their past games, which were nothing like this. There's nothing wrong with leaning further towards a game that's already established as being great.

I'll assume you're talking about gameplay rather than graphics?

Both, really.

These closed circuits in DC only meant for races competing against other clubs in different challenges and earning fame/trophies etc., And also experiencing the drive in those beautiful locations (it has detailed cars with features close to real cars that's why we have few cars compared to FH2) like a simulator. DC is semi arcade/simulation game and its goals are completely different from FH2 open world hunts.

Yes, they changed the policy. If we upgrade, it's the full game, no subscription needed.

Well then. Ain't that sweet. I have no probs paying a cool 50 to get this on my PS4. It's not a game I EVER wanted on disc either as I'd be switching the damn thing every other hour. Hail Evo!

I'll admit I do like the open world in FH2 but I simply have no idea how their claims of IQ match up to the real thing. I do know about Driveclub because we all been involved in the whining change this process and it worked out well.

Report from the showfloor indicate the game is super dark, just like one year ago at E3. Also from what I saw from some sample footage with an utter moron at the wheel, not the best track to show how beautiful the game is. Still, working hard on getting some good looking videos...

Can't wait to see footage with the weather effects :O
The game looks stunning and way above anything else in the same genre.
The decision to delay the game to transfrom it from a PS+ freebie to a potential AAA racing game was wise.

Thanks blim driving games look so bad when people can't drive .

I'm just glad that there are great circuit racers on the horizon with Drive Club and Project Cars. This looks absolutely stunning and it's about time we get a 'pure' arcade racing game without all that boost / weapons / traffic-NfS bullshit. IMO a racing game should be about precision, learning to master the course and getting better at racing.

I'm cumming all over the keyboard

Only concession I'll give Forza is that it's IQ seems better/cleaner - the aliasing in some of the Driveclub videos bothered me. But in every other department I don't see how you can say DC isn't a step above.

You wouldn't believe the footage I just saw. The guy is in manual but has no idea how change gear, and still manages to crash at every single corner. I've seen bad players in showfloor videos before, but this guy beats every single one of them.

Oh shit hope they release some tech details about the weather soon!
Also if I could idle in a snowstorm and the snow builds up on my hood I will cry a bit in joy.

Man that sounds so damn bad and good way to make any game look like bad gameplay wise.
