Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Why?

MK8's unlocks with the exception of I think Rosalina and Metal Mario are purely cosmetic.Roy Koopa has the same exact top speed, accel, handling, weight, and traction as Donkey Kong. Rosalina and Metal Mario don't have any equivalents in the starting characters.

If I really want to play as Greninja and he's unlockable, I'll have to play with dumb ass whoever character first to play him, and that sucks.
Rosalina is the same as Roy. You're thinking of Pink Gold Peach. And Greninja isn't unlockable.

3DS confirmed for best character select screen: holy shit!

...lol

I think the best compromise would be to have unlockable characters in the 3DS version but have everyone unlocked from the start in the Wii U version. That way everyone can get some of what they want! And we'll know the entire roster by the time the Wii U version comes out anyway, so there won't be any surprises there.

It's only a character select screen.

The Wii U's manages to be ugly too, with the weird split border thing going on. The mock up blue one was better.

Oh come on, where's all the 3DS footage?;__;
I'm expecting a reveal during the Invitational

But there's post launch DLC! The WiiU version might have characters the 3DS doesn't (which are later added as DLC)

I really would love unlockable characters on both...but the way Brawl handled unlockables was awesome. Pretty easy in SSE but if you don't want to do that you can get them other ways.

On this one you can see Olimar's Final Smash and what I think is the drill from Drill Dozer.

It's the Drill Arm from Kid Icarus: Uprising

Right, of course you think it's ugly lol. Sakurai could've made the 3DS's black and white, and you'd love it. Smh. But yeah, it's just a select screen, Smash's interface is still pretty to me. Both look good, but the 3DS's select screen is ass.

I would personally be okay with this, but I can't see it happening. Though DLC is practically inevitable, I don't think we'll see any new characters until at least 2015.

Dude, both of the CSS look like shit. It doesn't matter anyways, we'll be there for seconds a time. Bear in mind, they could of been hastily dumped together for E3.

The bottom screen looks nice. I like how it displays battery, name and connection status.

Eh, the 3DS one looks much worse. It's like something someone made in MS Paint in 20 minutes.

congrats, your critical thinking abilities have reached level 2

only 26 xp before level 3

I'm a Project M nut here and what I'm seeing is someone who is wrong wrong wrong

I mean yeah it looks like a tweaked Brawl in a sense but none of the tweaks rub me the wrong way at all and in fact this game seems a lot more conducive than Brawl to offensive competitive gameplay

What? Have you played it? Lots of people have been saying it feels like a slightly faster Brawl and not like Melee. The verdict is still out of course but it's disappointing, I liked the way characters felt heavier in Melee.

Assuming we do get character DLC (in Gematsu I trust), the main Inkling from Splatoon would be perfect. That's Nintendo's first character-based in-house IP in a long time.

Any evidence of customizable controls on the 3DS version yet?

I don't need two jump buttons, and the R on my 3DS isn't working x.x

Among the mass of posts, I was going to quote someone else- Apparently there was another Gematsu leak? Is this true? One where it was predicted about the Mii Fighters?

I'm 100% certain controls can be changed. It could in older games and during the 3DS trailer, we saw a lot of customisation, so I don't see why not.

Yup.

Hey, guys.

Funny that this page is talking about a new e-mail, because that's exactly why I'm here. Received one last night, but missed it in the mix of all this crazy E3 coverae.

But there's not much new about it, so I didn't think it was worth posting on the site.

I'll leave what it says here, though, in case you guys can use it in any way.

Basically, I was told that:

- Last E3 before game's launch (obviously)
- Participating characters: Pac-Man, Mii Fighter, Goddess Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, Chorus Men (none of these are new, obv, so I take he means these are the participating characters for E3?)
- There has been internal debate about keeping Lucas versus Ness, apparently Lucas is likely to get the cut
- Nintendo is planning post-launch character DLC, source doesn't like this as he thinks it's greedy

And that's it. This E3 should make or break whether this guy's the real deal. Let's hope for the best! =)

Yup. Named all of the remaining newcomers, including Mii fighter by name before they were revealed, said there's post launch DLC, and that Lucas might be cut.

According to Gematsu we should see all those characters at E3?

That seems to suggest secret characters left.

DLC would be a bummer but not a deal breaker.

Especially from a guy who bought ALL of the custume parts in Soul Calibur V...I have no room to talk and I am definitely apart of the problem.

I am also in the camp that likes unlocking things in Smash.

It gives me things to do in singleplayer mode, kind of like all the trophies in Brawl, or achievements in games. I can understand some people don't enjoy that though.
