Sorry if this has been answered a lot, but what button has the equivalent of pressing the back button to bring up the scoreboard in Halo? I think this is the same menu where your Ghost pops up and you can summon a vehicle?

Ah yeah I can see that now that you mention it. I guess I didn't notice because he entered from the other way, compared to the E3 demo.

I guess that means that different quests can take place in the same area/room? You said earlier that the quest from the E3 demo got activated from one of the beacons. I assume that meant that the boss from the E3 demo will still come crawling out of the hole in the wall in that specific room?

That's another area right now that is a bit limited. You have to remember we're playing a limited slice from level 4-8. So there is some repetition. I do know you have different levels of gear. Like Common (grey) to Uncommon (Green) to another that the name eludes me at the moment (Purple). Then I do know there are exotics in the game too. So there should be a good variety of loot.

yes, old russia is very much the same size as an MMO zone, perhaps bigger given the context. There are a rumored 6 additional planets to explore, old russia, venus, mercury, the moon, mars and europa, so far i think venus, the moon, mars and old russia have been confirmed.

Yes. But you have to activate the quest.

In free-roam, you can visit the areas used for Strikes/Story missions.

I think Chicago is on Earth, too. For a story mission or whatever.

Not exactly. The E3 demo I'd have to say was probably a very early version of a strike. In the open world these spaces you'd have bosses won't have a boss there all the time. In some cases a door that a boss would be behind won't open like in the case of the final boss in the Devil's lair strike. The minor mobs though could still be there in those areas. Does that make sense?
 
Something to mention about the ps4 version. They do a lot of really clever things with the controller.

If you have your flashlight activated, your controller will glow a bright white, if your super is ready your controller glows yellow, if you're taking a lot of damage your controller will pulse red. It's a really nice little touch imo.
 
I hope the beta is really long because it starts the day I leave for vacation. Bad timing but oh well. Preordered day one last year and none of this stuff is disappointing. Here's hoping for alpha on Thursday! :D
 
Thanks for the alpha impressions, everyone. The game sounds amazing, and we've just seen a sliver of it.

Fingers crossed for an alpha code for this weekend!
 
The exploration has not been oversold. The explore space is indeed a good size. There are definitely still walls, but there is definitely exploration to be had.
 
Gonna take a break from answering questions (it's already been 2 and a half hours!).

Also something important I havent seen asked about yet.
There are checkpoints and restarting of sections in what I guess are strikes or story areas.

You can die and have to replay areas, these are separate from your free-roams. It even keeps a running respawn tally akin to a competitive MP match. Not sure but they do seem to get a little easier on respawn, but that could just be my imagination
 
if anyone is interested I can do a quick shrike run through 3 of the zones, from the steppes to forgotten shore, it'll show off 3 of the roughly 7 zones in old russia.

Yup I have to finish up work and head home. I'll be streaming later when I get on destiny and then try to answer any questions I can later.

Oh well, there goes half my hype for the game. Thanks for the answer.

Nobody has answered my other question, but I guess if there are accuracy penalties for jumping, the always bloomed reticle on the sniper can only mean exactly what I was fearing... Sigh.

Yeah this is without a doubt my most anticipated game of the year after watching that giant bomb video. Absolutely cannot wait for this to drop. The UI is so fucking slick.

These videos posted have definitely made me change my opinion on the game. It actually looks like a lot of fun now. LOL
 
A few questions for those in the know/Alpha:

1) How do the weapons feel? I'm super excited about Destiny but.. none of the weapons seem to be doing it for me from what I can see in videos. They don't seem to have the same character or satisfaction -looking at videos of course- as Halo weapons did.

2) Any footage/pictures out there of different spaceships ships/vehicle mounts? I see they're purchasable in the store but I'm not sure if that means the content is even in the alpha. Unlockable/purchasable spaceships has been something that got leaked/revealed a long time ago and we've heard pretty much nothing since. I would just like some photographic evidence!

3) Do we have a definitive answer on transferring 360 saves to PS4 yet? Last I heard it's something they were looking into and.. if you can via bungie.net it would save me a shit ton of money in the fall before I feel there are enough games to justify an X1/PS4 purchase.

I'm happy with them so far. For whatever reason, killing the Hive is more satisfying then killing the Fallen (for me).

Yeah, that was 3 of the roughly 7 zones on old russia, the steppes which is the starting location, mothyards and the forgotten shore. Some of the areas, like the oil platform in forgotten shore, has additional areas underneath.

There are also caves and various other places to the sides of the levels. Some levels are slightly smaller, but are filled with more content, like branching areas or paths.
