Have you found any tricks yet like PP / BR or BXR? Is there a particular thing that seems to work? Is there anything you can abuse?

I haven't found anything. Course I also tend to be of the mindset that doesn't really go looking for tricks, button combos, etc.

Not sure if it's been answered already, but have you noticed any balancing issues what with the ability to literally spawn with a rocket launcher or sniper rifle?

You're welcome for answering all these questions!

I haven't found anything game-breaking, if you're talking about glitches.

In the GB footage it showed items with Strength and Intelligence on them, whats going on there? Potential for PvP gear being unbalanced or potentially farmed?

the tower looks amazing btw. Walking around some of the areas are breathtaking, and the sky fills up with exhaust trails from space crafts. I can't wait to do some timelapse videos in the game because the day to night cycles are beautiful.

strength - melee
discipline - grenades
intellect - super

they reduce the cooldown on those spells. If you're finding yourself using your throwing knife as a hunter a lot you may want to gear more for strength so you can use it even more often, or if you like using your grenades you may want discipline.

I'll be honest I was playing with Fyrewulf and Dan and I did notice that Snipers can be pretty nasty if they're good early on. Rockets I really haven't had a lot of problems with. That's probably because yous spawn with no heavy ammo and it seems to take a bit before some becomes available on the map. I do think they're looking at the sniper thing though.

BTW Fusion Rifle is so fun to use. It's a special weapon in the vein of Shotgun etc. You charge this rifle up and it can be a nasty nasty weapon in the right hands. It's damn fun to use.

I have no idea. There are many aspects of Destiny I have no idea about. What Bungie is trying to do with the Alpha and the Beta is to find out what is and what isn't intuitive; that's why they don't explain a lot. There's no instruction manual.

If there's anyone from Bungie reading this, can I ask what are the chances of classic Bumper Jumper being included in the final game? Basically this:

LS: Crouch
RS: ADS
L2: Grenade
L1: Jump
R2: Shoot
R1: Melee
Triangle: Switch Weapon
Circle: Action/Reload
Cross: Sprint
Square: Ability

Would that be possible? Or should I start playing COD to practice for Destiny?

What build have you settled on, or are you still trying everything out?

Thanks again. Really appreciate it.

Well due to the alpha being limited to level 8 you really can't get a feel for a full build. Then you have the 2nd tree become available after level 15. So I haven't played with that one except during Pre-alpha and of course it was not near as complete as the Alpha build.

Interesting. So I am guessing we can spec a particular way based upon our playstyle? I wonder if they will add other things to gear to make more changes as we progress?

I'm definitely going Hunter for retail release. I love my throwing knife, jump, and the maneuverability of the class.

You can't try out everything because most of the game is locked.
Summoning your vehicle looks so cool

It is! The vehicles in Destiny are so much fun to drive.

Oh and those asking about stats and PVP gear. Don't worry. In PVP gear and weapon damage etc is balanced. It balances everything out so that everyone is equal. So there is no need to worry there. I have noticed it seems like things that I had improved the time to recharge on also took longer too. As if they had been reset more to their default setting before you added stats. I don't know for sure if that's the case though. That's just observation I've made.

you can spec a specific way for maps if you want. You can swap weapon and gear on the fly so if you're playing a close range map you can swap from sniper rifle to shotgun and scout rife to hand cannon.

Supers in pvp are really based on how you're playing, you get bonuses to your super meter for taking objectives and getting kills.

Sounds good, as long as heavy ammo is limited. I imagine heavy ammo is dropped and a skilled player would know the drop locations?

Thanks for doing this Q/A with Dax, it's fantastic. :)

Ahhh I see! Trying to balance the gear no matter if you PvP or PvE? Tricky to get right. WoW players should know this one. =D

It's interesting how that works. On the map you have several special ammo crates. When a heavy one becomes available the announcer will tell you that heavy ammo is incoming. Then a crate spawns with that. Once someone opens a crate it is opened. So it's kind of like first come first serve. It does seem to be a couple spots that it's set to put that crate at too. It's interesting how it's done.

Oops. Didn't mean to double post. Sorry about that.

Yea. That's why I like the way they handled that. Instead of having to worry about balancing it all they just normalize everyone and poof balance. I actually kind of wish WOW did that back in the days when I played. Would probably have made balancing the PVP so much easier.

the special ammo kind of acts like weapon spawns in halo games, I appreciate it since heavy weapons can be really strong.

Oh. One little nitpick.

In Destiny you hold down the weapon-swap button to use your heavy weapon. I find myself, often enough, switching to my heavy weapon when I really want my secondary. If Bungie could figure out a better way to access your heavy weapon, that'd be great.

So no weapon drops in the maps then? Spawning the special ammo seems like an interesting way of shaking things up from the normal shooter stuff at least.

Does jumping reduce your accuracy in any way? Or is it like Halo?

Also, in the videos I see the sniper reticle is bloomed all the time. Does that mean the game is using random vectors, like COD? Will I be forced to use the scope on the sniper to be accurate?

what's the chances of vehicles like halo in the MP? I'm talking warthog, ghost, banshee type stuff?

I guess it would depend on the size of the maps

Yeah, the ammo spawns are -functionally- like weapon pickups off map in Halo, it's just that you get so much ammo off them they feel like a formality right now.

There are vehicles on the moon map. They're all single-person so far, and all of them leave you exposed to being sniped off of them.

One is a ghost/chopper style cannon bike.

One is a scorpion/wraith type called the Interceptor.

There's turrets as well.

Haven't seen any MP flying vehicles.

Oh yea. I remember back during pre-alpha when there wasn't anything to explain this. I played around forever trying to figure out how to switch to it. Then Dan comes in and asks me if I figured it out. I was like NOOO. I felt so stupid after that. I do agree there too. I do occasionally find myself accidently switching to my heavy sometimes in the heat of the moment when I want my special weapon. That's something that maybe Bungie needs to look at but with everything going on I really can't think of a way they could fix that.

Is there some sort of matchmaking, "looking for players", system for strikes? Say me and a Buddy want to do a strike and we need a 3rd guy.

I need to play with Dan soon. We haven't been able to get a good time to meet up.
So in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4cNLklMix8&feature=youtu.be, the guy ends up in a room that appears identical to the room with the boss from the E3 2013 demo, the guy that crawls out of the whole in the wall. This makes me curious if there's a lot of copy/paste in the game?
There's no copy and paste in that situation. That's the EXACT location used in the May 2013 demo.

Strikes and Story missions use areas of Old Russia. It's not copy and paste so much as it is using the world that you're given.

Yes. The game very smoothly matches you up with other guardians. It's a picture of your ship with a "Finding guardians..." in the upper left-hand corner.

AFAIK all the single player missions are built into the world zones. It's not copy and paste so much as they use the openworld areas to facilitate gameplay spaces for single player missions.

Did you get any glimpses of the full world map for the final game? Was the one world you explored similar in size to an MMO zone? Should I cancel my FFXIV subscription come September?

Yup. It will automatically match you up with a 3rd guy. The system is very easy. You don't have to do any thinking about it.

Yea that's the exact room like Dax said. No spaces are copy and pasted. Those locations exist in the world. It's just that in explore you may see a door remain closed or a boss not crawl out of his spawn.
