Final Fantasy Type-0 HD coming to PS4/Xbox One (no Vita), Agito coming too (iOS/And)

That was my assumption as soon as they announced it + XV's lack of presence at E3 this year.
I don't think you can draw those kinds of conclusions from this. I mean, Square Enix did release Lightning Returns: FFXIII and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn within months of FFX | X-2's release. I think it's likelier they are using this as a "cheap-ish" way to build up JRPG/FF fanbase on PS4 & Xbone prior to FFXV's release and it doesn't necessarily mean FFXV is a 2020 release now. They could release this in the Spring/Summer/Early Fall and still have FFXV release later in Fall/December 2015 or something. It's basically their Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Right you think Square would continue to bother to bring this over here if every psp and vita fans had shut up about the game and pretending it never existed like they did for 3 years?

they never forgot it existed. It's mentioned tons in interviews. They've even said it was already partially, or even fully localized.

I don't know why anybody would think they'd release it on Vita, which has a far lower userbase and is ignored by the company that makes it, when they wouldn't release it overseas on PSP.

Yea because fans were begging for ios/android remakes or past games too right?

I couldn't say. Maybe they are in japan where the mobile business is thriving.

Well, that does seem to be Square Enix's logic as of late ...

It will come.

Except PS4 and XBone have a huge market that is growing....

Console sales is like a birds shit in a manure factory compared to mobile. Not to compare dev costsnbut remember those.

But then again who on mobile will spend $60 on a game? Not many except the f2p whales.

But anyway, vita is at 8m globally(generous assumption) Xbox will definitely be above that next year but let's look at the attach rates, the normal FF sales on PS vs Xbox. Yeah, no better hire a wizard to divine what to do instead.

It was only mentioned in interviews because people was asking about it... Seriously, when have Square ever said anything about type-0 without being prompt to do so?

That US blog update. Talk about salt in the wounds for vita fans. Oh well I'm glad the game is coming out (lol) in some form in the west. Will be there day one.

Is this supposed to be a good FF? I have never played a FF seriously, so would this be a good one to try?

Everyone I've communicated with that played the import loved it.

Interesting story and characters, classic world map, controllable airships for the first time since FFIX, great art direction (FFVII, VIII, and X's Yusuke Naora).

Very exciting times right now.............................sorry Vita owners :{

Isn't that the format of interviews? When do companies issue statements about anything without being prompted to do so?

What? Companies make announcements all the time. Square have been bugged by everyone outside of Japan for 3'years asking if it will ever be localized. Most of the time the answer was we want to but we'll see. Vita owners kept the interest and demand going for Type-0 and that's a fact.

Isn't that the format of interviews?

Urm.. My point is that Square was pretending Type-0 didn't exist if no one was asking them about it. So if the PSP/Vita fans wasn't hounding them at every turn, do you think Square would have mention Type-0, even casually, at any point during the last 3 year? Do you think that they'd work on the HD remakes anyways?

I'm so out of the loop for everything FF related...
Type-0 is now FFXV aka Versus XIII? I'm very confused.

Wat, no^^ Type-0 is another game that's part of the same common mythos, called „Fabula Nova Crystallis“, as FFXIII and FFXV (aka. FFversusXIII).

I don't think you understand what he said. The Vita and PSP audience kept it alive for 3 years and didn't pretend it didn't exist. Hence, the constant interview question and prodding.

No no no. I won't have a PS4 until mid-2015 and I want to play this when it releases. God what the hell?
Good news! This won't be out until after mid-2015 so you're in the clear. The Chinese can't work miracles, you know... even if they are still more capable than Square's in-house staff.

The Vita market in Japan is growing faster than that of PS4. Just saying.

The Vita install base is pathetically small, it doesn't make much sense to release a console-level FF on it.

Your argument would make sense if the current gen install base was significantly bigger but its not, there are more PSV owners than PS4 right now and even if we add the XOne install base I doubt it would make any significant difference on the sales, I suppose I don't have to remember you that there's no XOne in Japan not to count that the PS4 is struggling there.

As today there has been tons of campaigns made by PSV users and none by PS4/XOne users. So lets sum it up:

* No one asked for a PS4/XOne version.
* A graphical remake to "Next-Gen" is way more expensive than a simple HD remake for the Vita.
* The current gen install base isn't significantly bigger than the PSV install base.

I really don't see how it makes much more sense from any point of view to release this game on PS4 and XOne instead of PSV, it actually doesn't make sense.

This falls into the 'At Least Something Until FFXV' game category.

This, FFXII:Zodiac HD, and the inevitable Lightning Collection for X1/PS4 will satisfy FF fans for the next 3 years before FFXV releases!

Type-0 HD is a pretty awesome announcement. It will be much better than what the original Type-0 was, which has it own sleigh of gameplay & technical problems due to the platform. I just can't see any reason to be disappointed. Type-0 is not the kind of game that is better on a small screen and will simply benefit from being on the big screen. Just sounds like no matter what awesome things Square Enix does, some of you want to be butthurt and bitch about them.

I'd understand the vitrol if they had announced they are doing nothing else but bringing Agito outside Japan and had scrapped all plans for Type-0's localization, but I really can't see anything to get so insanely mad about when they announce a PS4. I mean, FF fans would probably own a PS4 or Xbone in the future anyway when FFXV is released (if that turns out to be good) and they are going to support the platforms with other JRPGs, so it's not like they are forcing you to buy a platform that is on its way out and isn't likely to get any/much more SQEX support in the future (like, say, Vita) for a single FF game. Vita is, in every way, the worse option for Type-0 than PS4 & Xbone.

It was developed as a portable game, with playing missions in short bursts and having a resume/suspend option. You can state the game benefits more on a big screen as a fact, but there are people who wouldn't agree with you. Hence why there are people who play and prefer FFX/X-2 HD on the Vita too.

Again, why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't it be both? Also, I guess me not owning a PS4 and thinking about not buying one in the future does not make me a FF fan?

I am absolutely not one of those fans who bitches about everything SE does. I enjoyed FFXIII, XIII-2, loved Lightning Returns, am excited to get TFF CC etc. This news hurts on many different levels. I guess we shouldn't expect FFXII HD on the vita either.

Sorry Famassu, I'm not here to start a heated discussion :(

I'm not familiar with Type-0. Can anyone tell me what kind of Final Fantasy this is? Is it similar to any of previously released FF? Like FF9, or 10, or 12 or 13 maybe? Or is it similar to a game like Bravely default?

:/ i dont understand the hype

A brand new FF that never released in the west and got amazing reception and sales in Japan is getting a beautiful remaster on PS4/XB1.

What's not to like ? :D

Most reports state this game would greatly benefit from a proper platform as well.It was restricted by PSP controls

They waited until i imported a copy of Type-0 from amazon to announce this haha, oh well im glad its coming, and its going to have better graphics? Cool.

It's more an action RPG ala Crisis Core.

This is cool I guess. I've heard some good things about Type-0. If my memory serves me correctly I do believe Vita owners were on the forefront of asking for this. I own a PS4 and a Vita but understand where they are coming from.

With this announced and seeing how long they took for FFX/X-2 remaster and KH1.5, I'm not expecting this until late 2015, sometime shortly after KH2.5. With that being said, I now don't expect FFXV until late 2016 or early 2017, pretty shameful if I do say so SE.

This console release over a Vita release will be completely redeemed if multiplayer actually supports an online infrastructure.

Still totally feel bad for PSP and Vita owners though. They put in the most work in letting their voices be heard about this game just to get shoved aside.

To those who say:"if you wanted type-0 you would still buy it on PS4/XBO"

Not every Vita owner has either PS4 or XBO

I have a Vita and will play this on my PS4, but I don't assume other people have a PS4 just because they have a Vita

I have a Vita and a PS4 but I wanted it for my Vita. It seemed like it was meant to be played on it but SE disagrees

I do, because they were looking for an opportunity to bring the game over that would make them money. Vita wasn't the way to do it.

I don't think it had anything to do with Vita fans "hounding" them.

Well, I'm a PSV/PS4 owner, and I just wanted the game ported. I don't care what it released on, I just thought Vita was most likely.

There are people who are fans of video games who wanted to see it head west.

You know, not just consoles.

Ok, GAF. I know nothing about Final Fantasy Type-0. I am a big Final Fantasy fan from 1-10, but never played anything since that other than FFXIV (MMO). Didn't touch any of the XIII stuff.

I love traditional JRPGs and have been wanting to scratch that itch on PS4. Should I be excited?

Depends on whether you like action RPGs. It's not that traditional a game.

Isn't Shahid like THE Vita guy over at Sony? It seems strange that he found out about a major game coming to the system through the PS Blog.
