I saw a demo played at E3. Looked really good, amazing atmosphere and character designs. Play is slightly skewed to be a little more offensive with more dodging vs. blocking with a shield. Let me know if you guys have any questions, as I'm sitting in line to see a Batman presentation.

Framerate was super choppy but to be expected as nothing has been optimized. Presenter even made sure to mention that the game is really early. Also there are definitely going to be online features aka dark souls, but nothing to be announced yet. Also they said they're going to have a slightly increased emphasis on story.

CAN'T SLEEP

using phone pinch zoom in to zoom into the AWESOMENESS that is THIS FUCKING GAME

"keeping the deep strategic elements from Demon’s Souls, while also transitioning from the passive and block-and-attack style of Demon’s Souls to a quicker, more offensive and active combat style with close-range weapons and guns."

My preferred play-style in the Souls games was and is aggressive, no-shield play, so this is pretty much music to my ears.
I tried playing like this for the first time in dark soul 2. I was pretty great. No shied just weapons. I didn't even upgrade any of the weapons.

Excellent to hear! Although by emphasis on story, that doesn't mean it will have a full blown narrative, does it? I love how the Soul's games lore and plot are kind of mysteriously hidden.

I love the architecture

I just found a third version of the bloodborne trailer on youtube.

It now has a few seconds of that blue "ONLY ON PLAYSTATION" clip.

Lol at everyone talking about excusivity. Did you not read the first paragraph of the OP? Of couse not.

Hello, PlayStation fans. This is Masaaki Yamagiwa from Japan Studio.

I am here to talk about a new Action RPG, Bloodborne, which will launch early 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 console

Good lord this is looking good. Absolutely hyped through the roof for it.

I love the sound of the firearms being used as more of a stun tool than a long range weapon, brilliant.

Let me know if you guys have any questions, as I'm sitting in line to see a Batman presentation.
The demo area was more dense with enemies than Souls games usually are, right? Did the enemies have any other behaviours than standing around waiting for you?

Sony needs to mention that this is a exclusive because even right now I am still seeing a ton of confusion.

They've mentioned it repeatedly. There are two stories about it on the PSblog and both say that it's exclusive. The official page mentions that it's exclusive. It was also introduced by Yoshida during the first party portion of the conference. And Sony owns the IP.

At this point it's more of people being in denial than actual confusion.

The fact that he's referencing Demon's Souls so heavily just made my day.

I'm with you. The fact one of the articles posted compared it to dark souls and resident evil make me think they didn't even play demon's. So their opinion is worthless. :P

Not 100% sure but I think it is going to be a full blown narrative. He had a plot synopsis but I forgot the details. I'm sure it'll not be over the top, though. Likely subtle still.

If someone only watched the conference trailer, then I can clearly see why they are confused. It did not have any logo besides "FROM SOFTWARE" and the Miyazaki name drop. Shu also did not mention the platform or anything about being exclusive.

It was only after the conference was over that they uploaded the trailer to the playstation youtube channel and it suddenly had a Japan Studio logo in the video and mention of being exclusive in the description.

Still, I remember it had "Sony Computer Entertainment presents" at the beginning during the stream

Yeah, given that Miyazaki is directing I'm fairly certain that the story will still have a ton of mystery. I bet it will just have a bit more direction throughout, so that the average player will actually understand the overall plot. As opposed to Souls, where you finish the games and just sit back, not even really understanding what the hell just happened.

I like that approach, but I would be fine with this game being more clear on the main points, while still leaving a lot open to interpretation.

LORD MIYAZAKI said:
“Creating Bloodborne as a completely new game on the new PlayStation 4 hardware has allowed us to really push the envelope in myriad ways. That being said, in more ways than one, it also very much retains our distinct, signature style. As has been at the core of our development philosophy since Demon’s Souls, we make true games for people who love games. Please watch for more to come on Bloodborne, and thank you very much for your support.”

MY MEAT CLEAVER TO THE CAUSE! YES!

Ok but will I be dying every 5-8 minutes? Because I could do without that.

It is only an issue for those who only saw the trailer and heard shu speak at the conference.

It did not. Check the link on the previous page. You can't deny that this caused confusion. They have released two slightly different trailers with mentions of it being a exclusive and developed by sony japan after the fact to try and rectify this issue.

I hope they don't end up making this game 'too difficult'.

I felt the Souls games were hard but fair. It never really felt cheap (besides Anor Londo and certain moments in the game).

Needs to have balanced difficulty. It said they're aiming for Demon's Souls difficulty. Have never played Demon's Souls so I have no idea it's difficulty.

the demo was early gameplay but there pushing for Spring 2015? perhaps this was an old demo from TGS?

Gaf went wild over 15 seconds of leaked gameplay. Sony has a 30 minute demo and they're not sharing? Come on.

I suspect this is because the demo is an early build that, while looking gorgeous, has frame rate issues. While the framerate will be fixed before release, Sony probably doesn't want thread after thread on various forums complaining about the framerate, based on the E3 demo.

We will probably get an "official" gameplay trailer at Gamescom or TGS.

How was the sound design? One of my favorite things about the Souls games is how eerie and frankly quiet they are. There's an emphasis on ambient sound as opposed to blockbuster clang and crash, and I'm curious if Bloodborne follows suit.

I hope they have Souls death mechanics somehow...that's one of the best things about those games.

You don't technically lose any progress when you die. The only thing you lose is your exact position and *potentially* your souls. But the fact that you can retrieve your souls gives you motivation to proceed through very carefully, leading to some entertaining situations.

But yeah, the difficulty was fun for me because I never really feel like I'm losing progress because of the death mechanics.

What does one have to do to see that 30 minute demo.

Or at leats get detailed reviews.....and I'm talking detailed. I want you to describe everything that happened on screen minute by minute because my imagination is going crazy.

I just came from a showing of this game. I couldnt get any video/photo of it since it was prohibited, but it looked incredible. The art style resembles a 17th century England, which is a departure from the fantasy knight type setting.
The player is much more agile, beng able to move in and out much more quickly. Yoy are also foregoing the standard sword shield combo for a shotgun and sword/scythe hybrid. There is a short, quick attack with the sword, but it could opens up and transforms into a cleaver for a longer ranged but slower attack. The shotgun is pretty standard but there is a pretty long recovery period to precemt you from spamming it.
Bloodborne is definitely reminiscent of the souls games, but feels different at the same time. The demo was still pretty rough though, hovering near the low 20s at times, but I attribute that more to it still being early. Definitely impressed and really looking forward to it!

Exactly, people clamor for footage of games still in dev, crucify devs for any issues even thought they're not finished.

Devs don't release gameplay until it's ready to avoid that

See: people jumping on Bungie over that leaked alpha vid

Hello, PlayStation fans. This is Masaaki Yamagiwa from Japan Studio.

I am here to talk about a new Action RPG, Bloodborne, which will launch early 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 console. Bloodborne is a new collaboration for us, being developed by FromSoftware and produced by SCE Japan Studio. This game will transport players to a dark and terror-filled gothic world, a world full of deranged beings and nightmarish creatures.

Coming early 2014...maybe in March like Dark Souls 2? The Order in February and this shortly afterwards would be a great start to 2015.
