I have little doubt they will. As I also have little doubt SQEX will release it on Vita over there as well.
It's considered by many the best single player FF game of the last half decade.
That's a low bar.

I would put forward that making a Vita version of the game would have been a problem however you look at it.
On the one hand, if they made it for Vita but also new consoles, the game would show it's lesser brethren roots. On the other, if they make it new gen only, they can go to town with it, and not have to worry about a whole bunch of crappier assets being made for the Vita game.
I suppose they could have made the new version ps4/bone and just ported the PSP version to Vita, but that would still be disappointing for Vita owners.
Can't win without essentially, making two new versions of the game, handheld and new gen.
Edit: I would also assume this will not be retail, and will be downloadable like AC:Liberation.
Is this a complete remake?
Also, I have a question. According to Wikipedia (heheheh) Agito is actually a prequel to Type-0. I thought it was a mobile port.
Is it actually a prequel?
Would you care to elaborate on that please?
I can't believe the amount of people who, besides wanting the game on PS4, also actually/actively want it NOT to be on Vita or other consoles.
Is this a complete remake?
Don't expect much optimization.
My point is that Square was pretending Type-0 didn't exist if no one was asking them about it. So if the PSP/Vita fans wasn't hounding them at every turn, do you think Square would have mention Type-0, even casually, at any point during the last 3 year? Do you think that they'd work on the HD remakes anyways?
Pretty much. If anyone could point out an official campaign supporting Type-0 on the same level as #JRPGVita, then I'd like to see it.

I don't see how you can miss all the effort we made in the #jrpgvita campaign, Operation Suzaku and how every time a Jrpg is mentioned with the vita, Type-0 is near-immediately mentioned.
It's going to be the second major FF release (after XIV: ARR) for the current gen consoles. I assure you it will receive a physical release.
Nothing wrong with having faith. I hope you folks are right. I just don't believe you are seeing as how it almost never happens. FF is popular, yes, but Type-0 is still kind of a niche game in the series, at least in the U.S. I mean, if FF is so popular to be released on disc, where's Crisis Core HD or any other FF portable game on disc? I think It'd be more realistic to say it would be on disc in the U.S. if it were a collection.it's final fantasy. it's the most non-niche jrpg.
and using PSP ports as an example doesn't work. This is the first time a psp game has been ported to a next-gen console. There is no precedent.
An XBLA/PSN release of Type-O would be really silly.
No way is S-E going to charge $20 or less for this game.
They need a big release because they know that otherwise they'll have absolutely nothing for years.
I expect physical/digital along with an LE of some sort.

Hopefully this also means FFXII HD will be PS4 only and will do away with Vita and PS3
Alternatively they could have released the psp game translated on the vita in advance to get people hyped for the remake on the ps4 since I am sure it will take a couple of years to make the hd version. Looking at Shahid twitter tells me something else is going on here. https://twitter.com/shahidkamal/status/476455102933258240 This says it all to me.If you read an earlier post of mine, you'd see how I was a bit disappointed that Type-0 was missing Vita, yet happy it was on PS4. I bought FFX HD on both Vita and PS3. And while having it on a portable with suspend/resume is useful, it felt like such a downgrade going from the PS3 to Vita version in terms of both audio and visual quality.
Now Type-0 was designed as a portable game. So the benefit from going to PS4 on top of a hypothetical Vita version while great, wouldn't be massively so even I would want it. FFXII is a huge and expansive game, and a small.screen wouldn't do it justice, nor would I want how far they could enhance the game to be limited, hemce why I don't even want a PS3 version. I want it to be made in as much glory as possible without Vita limiting it

Also it is a physical release.
Does that mean we also shouldn't expect much of a release delay?Don't expect much optimization.

It shouldn't need much right? It's a PSP game.

Fair enough. I forgot about your website so this is good news and I'm glad to be wrong. Will be getting this for sure now.I am the source.
Cool! Also it is a physical release.
Are there? I thought PS4 had already gone past Vita? Or at least it was pretty close in April or May already.Your argument would make sense if the current gen install base was significantly bigger but its not, there are more PSV owners than PS4 right now
Xbone doesn't matter in Japan, but even if it's lagging behind PS4 in hardware sales, software is still doing pretty well on it outside Japan, certainly well enough to consider quick & dirty ports when they are already doing it on similar hardware.and even if we add the XOne install base I doubt it would make any significant difference on the sales, I suppose I don't have to remember you that there's no XOne in Japan not to count that the PS4 is struggling there.
You do know that a big portion of those PSV owners are probably likely future PS4 and/or Xbone owners (if a lot of them don't already own one of them or both) and those Vita campaigns got a lot of support from non-Vita owners? As today there has been tons of campaigns made by PSV users and none by PS4/XOne users. So lets sum it up:
Most people I know just wanted it localized. Vita was kind assumed as a strong possibility due to the game's past as a PSP game, but they would've been just as happy with a 3DS or PS360 port or, now, with a PS4/XBone remake. The game will be the best it can be on PS4 & Xbone, so I don't see any reason to complain.* No one asked for a PS4/XOne version.
Sure, but as I pointed out above, this is clearly also a move from Square Enix to build up the JPRG/FF fanbase on PS4. By releasing Type-0 HD on PS4Bone, they can sell a nice number of copies of Type-0 while giving PS4 sales in Japan a nice little boost that will help FFXV's sales later on. It's a similar reason as to why Konami released MGS:GZ now. MGS5 & FFXV are such huge productions that they need to sell well in all regions. They can't let the anemic Japanese console market get to them, so they need to come up with ways they can help CPR the market until they can release those games.* A graphical remake to "Next-Gen" is way more expensive than a simple HD remake for the Vita.
Type-0 HD isn't releasing tomorrow. This is irrelevant. In a year or 1,5 or however long this will take to make, PS4 & Xbone sales will quite likely be at least 3-4x Vita's sales.* The current gen install base isn't significantly bigger than the PSV install base.
Vita is dead while PS4 & Xbone will be important for Square Enix for the next 5+ years since they are releasing FFXV, KHIII and hopefully a multitude of other games for both platforms within the next few years. That's all the reason they need to put it on PS4Bone instead of Vita.I really don't see how it makes much more sense from any point of view to release this game on PS4 and XOne instead of PSV, it actually doesn't make sense.
Shpuld we expect something worse than the FFX(-2) HD PS3 version?Don't expect much optimization.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is bigger than its platform. People kept asking for it because it's FF. All of those Twitter "tell us what games you want" things attracted a lot of people who didn't own a PSP or Vita to ask for Type-0, it wasn't purely just Vita owners. Fans of FF, Square Enix & good action RPGs in general want to play it and I'm pretty sure a majority don't give a fuck if it's Vita or 3DS or PS4, they just want a localization to exist in any way possible and I'd think a PS4Bone release makes a lot more people happy (since people actually want a PS4 & Xbone) than releasing it on one of the worst selling platforms of all time that will probably be dead pretty soon.
I am the source.
This is basically Square's console output from March 2010 to end of 2014 (roughly 5 years):
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (sequel)
Dragon Quest X (online MMO, Japan only)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 (HD port)
Final Fantasy XIV Realm Reborn (remake of the disaster from 3 years ago)
Lightning Returns (sequel)
Final Fantasy X/X-2 (HD port)
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 (HD port)
And now that we're getting yet another HD port from a 2011 game that was on a handheld from 2004, while screwing over Vita users in the process, it's a move that "vastly exceeds what anyone could expect"?
Okay.
