Holy fuck... this game man..
I'm conflicted about creating your own character and that being the "main character" for the story. I'm not a huge fan of silent protagonists in general because it makes the dialogue rather awkward sometimes. It's a nice touch for some customization, but having a silent character is kind of a bummer, imo.
We'll have to see where it works out, but maybe your player character is more like an observer to everything that goes on in the game, and the other characters play more of a 'main character' role. At the very least, the trailer as well as the Treehouse playthrough makes it pretty clear that there's going to be a lot of story in this game, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I hope Nintendo's archiving all of this. Can't seem to get back to the very beginning.
Smash though?
DId you post a Smash Brothers link on purpose? If you did nevermind.
Well, it's SSB now, but it's a live stream of all today's Treehouse footage. XCX was there at some point, but now I can't go back to it (thus me hoping it was archived).
In this state of known games this could be the only JRPG in 2015. Hopefully not!
I wonder if I will like the game now, not really a fan of Xenoblade Chronicles. Even with gameplay footage, I still have reservations about Xenoblade Chronicles X. I only played the Wii game for 15+ hrs then sold it. And from the looks of it, this seems to be more of the same. It looks impressive so I might try it though.
It's from the Treehouse live demo (IGN has a very similar video).
It would really depend on what you didn't like about Xenoblade. Much of Xenoblade's style will see a return here, but not all. There may be new elements or different elements that you like more. It's really impossible to say at this point. Some games just don't grab you, Xenoblade may be such a game for you.
It looks like everything is shifted towards the "mud" end of the colour scale.
They're supposed to be muted. This is isn't going for a vibrant high-fantasy aesthetic like Xenoblade; they're going for an earthy, grounded sci-fi look. Secondly, the area is called "Primordial Wilderness". The color palette is very subdued here as to convey a, well, primordial atmosphere (there's also all that fog/mist that adds to that atmosphere).
Needs better gameplay walkthroughs, the Treehouse one was just grinding at the intro area.
Doesn't look like they fixed the quest system from the first game (they still have magical blobs on the overworld for quest items) and they haven't shown proper gameplay in different (non-rocks-and-grass) areas and how we transition between them. Also, needs more colour. A lot more. It looks like everything is shifted towards the "mud" end of the colour scale.
Oh and yeah, character faces look uncanny (i.e. shit). Kind of reminds me of those Tekken 1 FMVs on PS1. Everything else looks great through.
Still excited for it, just a bit less.
The problem is, I didn't hate Xenoblade, but I didn't like it either. I actually have no idea what to say with the few hours I played of it. I guess I can just say it didn't grab me like I thought it would.

I would almost suggest retrying it, especially since we got X coming. You know, I put Xenoblade down at about the same time, 15-20 hours. It just didn't grab me. But then about two weeks later I decided to give it another go. Once I learned all the mechanics and how things like gem crafting and skills worked, I loved it. It's now possibly my favorite game of all time. So you never know.
If not, then why not not try again with X? If you really want to like a game, I say give it a go.
Might skip this and wait for Xenoblade Chronicles XI
First thing I thought when I saw footage was that the game got a lot muddier. Definitely looked better before.
Can we call this Xenocross instead? Sounds a bit cooler than 'XCX'.![]()

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a pretty awful name.
Like, Xenoblade Chronicles was already a bad name (should've just gone with "Xenoblade"), and given the opportunity to fix it with a sequel... they doubled down on the dumb instead.
I'm thinking 2016 for the US market at the earliest. Sad for me.
It sounds more like a Special Edition or HD collection than a sequel title doesn't it?
And I for one am grateful. Filling in the collectopedia is one of my favore things to do in Xenoblade and it seems like there is a good chance to see a return of it. I loved seeing those little blue orbs in these videos! As for the questing, eh, I have no problem with completing all 480 or so quests, so for me, again I hope they don't change it.
Edit: Though they can surely make the quests less painful. Make it easier to find NPCs, put them on a map or something.
