DRIVECLUB gets actual weather effects, screenshots inside

I personally loved it. Felt alot less arcadey then last years demo. Lighting looks great and in-car view was impressive. I also loved whatever wheel I was using at the station. Definitely increased my hype that I didnt have after last years e3 demo

I'm pretty sure that it's the T300RS. A new wheel that was just announced for the PS4. It carries a $500 price tag.

Seriously TJP. FH was one of my favorite recent racers, it can really sway me to get a Xbox One first. I'd love to get both right away, but let's be honest, 8 month old girl, yeah right...Probably just stick with one for a while.
What about a gaming PC too? 8) I'm still leaning to buying a PS4..I'd love a WiiU as I need to play DKC!

This is looking absolutely fantastic, the lighting is so incredible. PGR vibe for sure.
Yeah, DC is looking sensational. I like the closed circuits of DC as that is far more inline with the PGR ethos than FH2's open world (just how open is still a guess). Loving the rain and snow too...it's PGR 4 all over again 8)

PS4 you also get to import MotoGP14 and the future WRC games too though. Already confirmed no Xbox One support for MotoGP.
Not an issue in PAL-land to obtain Milestone games plus owning a gaming PC allows one to play Milestone games for a much cheaper price too. I bought SBK Generations for $3.80 recently.

Man, so many great looking racing games coming. Cannot wait for pCARS too.

At least I'll get Grid Autosport and FH2 on the 360 until making the jump.
pCARS should be excellent irrespective of platform, Grid Autosport already pre-ordered for PC and I'm debating on FH2 on X360 or not...

Is this you?

Coming from the studio that made Motorstorm?!?! Yeah, I doubt that.

Honestly, this is a Project Gotham name in everything but name. The Kudos, the weather, the low-ish in number but broad selection of cars and tracks/locales, the aesthetic (not to mention some of the staff!) just reeks of it. I'm glad it's getting people enthusiastic about driving games again. I can only hope the social aspect catches on... I think clubs of 6 members is basically perfect for this sort of title. Don't want any bigger than that.

PS. We're totally joining the same club, TJ ;)

Why on earth didn't they show this at the conference in the place of that CEO's life story?

Pretty much the only genre that wasn't covered at their conference was a racing game.

This looks ridiculously good. Weather effects and dynamic snow is a megaton in my eyes.
Too true. But without a date on that weather I won't believe it or expect it. And even with a date I'd only half believe it. The track record has been anything but stellar and I feel like I've been burned and/or purposefully misled by pre-release hype for the flagship games a few too many times.

Thankfully there's the PS+ version to check out.

Just went back and rewatched some of the 1080p vids here

http://driveclub.eu.playstation.com/1080p

I can't get over how insanely good the lighting is. Only concern I have is the aliasing...is there something in the way the videos are coded that makes it appear worse? Some of those edges look quite rough

EDIT: Wow....scroll to the right on there and watch those 2013 Gamescom videos. Dat upgrade...

I don't have a PS4, but in the video Rushy talks about a PS4 OS feature called Gamer Looks, new feature?

Rushy is talking about Game Alerts, something that will allow us to notify players about things like Challenges and Club Invitations through the PS4 OS even if you're not playing the game.

This is not a new OS feature, it's been there from day one. It's been refined a bit in 1.70 though.

Direct feed gameplay. Thanks nib

Yeah I am slightly bummed as well. But I didn't even think they would commit to it. That too to the extent it is being described.
Gowddamn, this game really looks insane.... Those environmenst and everything that's going on..
The only distracting thing i noticed were the yellow flower petals :p. They were a bit weirdly random laying there in groups (and too yellow), waiting to get a wind cue..

Every time i see this game im blown away by the graphics, yet letdown by the gameplay, the handling looks terrible, i keep hoping its the noobs playing that make it look that way, but now im starting to think its not

Just looking at some shots of this game it looks like fucking real life. This game looks beautiful oh my god. I hope they show some gameplay of rain and snow soon :)

After a few minutes of driving, the developer turns up the precipitation until the drivers are caught in a full-on rainstorm. The feel of race changes along with the new weather, as visibility lowers and cars begin to kick up large clouds of mist on the road. As the rain increases, the roads become slick and shiny, and puddles form, reflecting everything in the environment, including cars, roadside flags, and rocks.

I need footage of this. I need it NOW.

This game's going to look incredible on a 1080p OLED screen.

Love the lighting, the attention to details, the sexy shader effects etc...

The more I see of this game the more I'm warming up to it. Watching those videos was kind of mesmerizing. Game looks sooo good. Is there a car list somewhere? I also want some info on the soundtrack. Really liked the first two Motorstorm's soundtracks though I guess you'll be able to play your own.

This is going to look so good.

Should make for an impressive kiosk demo if they instal the PS+ version on kiosks.

Waitaminute. Now there's a delay on the weather?

Shortly?

Really?

You aren't just fucking with me now are you? Because that'd be a solid kick to the nuts after all the weather celebration.

Is it coming shortly like GT6's promised post-launch content? Or the DriveClub delay? Or Shadowfall's Co-op expansion? Or Suspend/Resume? Ugg.

They just revealed a feature today that was not believed to be part of the experience, out of the blue, and you are talking about a delay...
A delay when no previous announcement, let alone a date commitment, was ever made.
SMH!

Both DC and FH2 look very similar in tech to me, same raindrops on cars, same wet roads with full reflections, same dynamic ToD and weather and dynamic clouds and what not. Just the art style is different, DC is grim dark Scotland and Norway and FH2 is sunny and colorful France and Italy. Both look amazing and the differences really come down to what artistic direction you prefer, technically they're very close with DC doing a bit more with screen space reflections everywhere, but it's a minor thing. Also both come from teams with a lot of ex-bizarre staff and it obviously shows with all the points and community features in both games. We're in for a great gen guys, it's only the first year and we're already getting some amazing games. 2015 is looking to be extremely loaded with high quality games on all main platforms.

Sony should put weather trailer in their E3 conference instead of that animated series crap.

Just start out with a normal driveclub demo to show how things have progresses since last year. Then, in the middle of a race, 'oh its started raining :p. Oh now snow'

Sony really should have slapped a Grand Turismo subtitle on this game.

I thought they wanted to and Polyphony refused. I swear if GT7 doesn't have engine/exhaust notes, dynamic weather, and a chase cam like DC, someone at Polyphony is getting slapped.

This level of detail is probably for the replay/photo mode only.

My impression from the interview regarding it was that it was running on a dev version and was just paused in game and the shot taken. Similar to how they do on inFamous. If that's the case then the detail is there in the full game just you don't get to see it quite so well.

Looks insanely good, it's still a bummer it's going to run at 30fps but I'm warming up to it more and more every day and these updates is certainly helping, Evolution are wizards, best looking racer so far without doubt!

I just hope they will share tech with Polyphony, or we'll get a bunch of premium audio and mostly standard aka shitty audio cars, premium races with dynamic weather and most without weather and so on...they'll have to step up their game if they don't want to lose their customer base.

Jesus look at that detail. That puddle. The environments and effects.

I have a feeling this will be a game I will stop just to admire everything very often.

While the ps4 is a nice machine there's no chance within the first year a game looking like this would be running at 60 fps. It looks amazing, and being a multi console owner I don't have to worry which is best between this and fh2 as I'll be enjoying both.

Good to know that they're using this new engine on other games too, I wish Sony still held the WRC license. I don't know if it'll be a driving game but MotorStorm could be amazing using this engine.
Don't do this. Please dont do this

This now looks brilliantly amazing. They Should have showcased this in the conference with the weather effects.
