Would've prefered a hub-style approach but connected world like DkS1 is fine as well!
I don't think that's true. In DS2 I could pretty much dance around or block, taking my time with pretty much any encounter in the game.In DS2 you had to be more aggressive than in the first two Souls games and it was worse than both especially because of that.
To be honest, hearing that its a lot different to play than DS has tampered my hype. I don't know why every one expects this to works just as good as the Souls gameplay - especially because From wasn't that well known as studio before Souls IIRC.
I'll keep my expecations down until I see that the gameplay is as fun as the Souls gameplay. The mentioning of it being more aggressive is not really helping to up my expecations. Well GOTG is confirmed it doesn't get better than that marriage of masterpieces. And I'm not even half kidding.Bloodborne is Dark Souls meets Resident Evil 4

Like it would in any settings of Demon's Souls. How would that work in a city setting?
Like it would in any settings of Demon's Souls.
You go to a cool looking place, you kill a boss, you return back to a safe haven (Nexus, in DS) and then you could either return to that place or go to another world.
I know all of this... I was just saying I would've prefered if it did indeed have a Nexus-style hubIt's not an interconnected world like Dark Souls, if it has a Nexus like Demon's. While Dark had a main area that connected to a few areas, you didn't have access to every world, and every area through warp zones/Archestones.
From likes back shots.

wait, waht?!
oh I'm thinking of a different kind of backshot
as you were....

- No, Project Beast will not leave Sony systems and is not coming to a Sony system other than the PS4 in the near future.
- Yes, it is an action RPG and not a pure action game.
- No, there is no fixed protagonist, male or female. You can create and customize your character like in previous games.
- Yes, there are other weapons besides the cleave-saw and the shotgun. In fact, marketing mentioned guns and cleave-saws plural.
- No, this is not Devil May Cry or a button masher. The gameplay is likened to Souls without a shield or magic and with guns that stagger foes.
- Yes, this is an interconnected world and there is no hub. Thank God.
I know how it works but this game seems to take place in a large city with interconnected areas. The leak also shows a area that seems to be right outside of a city. How would a hub system work in this type of setting? I doubt they ever even considered the thought of a hub game with broken off sections.Like it would in any settings of Demon's Souls.

Yes
and really? this sells you a ps4?
Fk me, I love hubs.We need a list of Bloodborne questions we've already answered too many times.

Oh nice I was wondering this as well very happy to hear as I usually make a female character.Oh and apparently the Dengeki Playstation interview with Miyazaki further confirms that you can create a female character too. So those worrying about a "fixed" character probably don't have anything to worry about.![]()
I actually wouldn't mind having a sewer level in this game, or an alternate path. Potentially overwhelming nastinessCan you imagine how awesome it will be to slowly unlock new areas of Yharnham - shortcuts, possible modes of transportation (gothic ferries/gondolas, anyone?) - until you've an entire Horrortropolis sprawled out before you, accessible in a myriad of ways?
In veins, yo. In veins.
I was going to say, why is having a hub a bad thing? I love Firelink Shrine and Majula. It's nice having an area of respite in a world that's constantly killing you.

It is for me. I don't see how that's odd or surprising. Demon's Souls sold me a PS3. Bloodborne now sells me a PS4.

People talking like a hub in a non linear game is good...uh, have fun having to cross really fucking long areas when you go the wrong way or you gotta get some upgrade thing because lol game doesn't give a shit. Remember all that time spent just running to the blacksmiths? Yeah, that was great.
Don't get me wrong it was cool that Dark Souls had an interconnected world but you could still do that while having a hub and the ability to warp. It's just a matter of convenience, and when it's a non linear game (assuming this will be), convenience matters big time. As I played Dark Souls 1, the longer I went the more I got annoyed with having to run all over the place, especially with how many long stretches there were where I could pretty easily avoid enemies.
Firelink Shrine is interconnected to the main world.I was going to say, why is having a hub a bad thing? I love Firelink Shrine and Majula. It's nice having an area of respite in a world that's constantly killing you.
In a direct counter-argument, I would say that all of the necessary traversal in DS1 does wonders for a first play-through. The sheer face-melting awesomeness of discovering that this shortcut leads here and that those stairs actually take you to an area you left 3 hours is something that can only be achieved through pacing all of those steps in-game. It adds exponentially to the sense of journey; to the sense of progress.
This is EXACTLY why DS2 pales to the colour of sticky white stuff in comparison when it comes to atmosphere.
- Demo is 30 mins long
- Bloodborne is more aggressive than Demon's Souls
- The city is called 'Biarnhem' ?
- City is very densely layered. 'More complex than Thief'
- Combat is much more aggressive
- They dual wielded in the demo: Firearm and what they call a 'Sawcleaver' one in each hand.
- Firearms are a close-range weapon, to stun enemies, create counter-attack opportunities.
- Sawcleaver was transformable, and many weapons will be.
- 'You cannot play this the same way as Demon's Souls' - Have to be more aggressive
- Targetting the same level of difficulty as Demon's Souls.
But the problem is it hurts the replayability, which is something I'm sure they care about seeing how many replay these games. You can still have the player traversing a large amount of space and getting a sense for the journey seeing how they still need to unlock bonfires, but spreading out black smiths and shops is just a pain in my ass.
This is probably a good time to ask: I want to return to Dark Souls but can't remember how to get to the Capra Demon from firelink shrine. Where do I go?
Also, is it true he's optional? I have the master key I think.
Thanks!
Firelink Shrine is interconnected to the main world.
I was under the impression hubs = Demon's Souls style where you enter portals.
Thanks to @FabioArapi on twitter for pointing this out. Can anyone confirm it? Google translation gives me gibberish.
