PS Vita TV coming to West as Playstation TV, $99

Looking forward to this, do prefer the black version too. Quick question, I've not bothered with PSP games on the Vita, are they locked to an account the way that Vita games are or can you have games from different accounts on the same card?

Considering that the $140 bundle comes with a download voucher for a Vita game, I highly doubt they're going to deny the fact that it plays non-streamed games like some of you guys are saying. The backlog is too big for them to ignore completely when you consider that it does PS1, PSP, and Vita games.

Going forward I'd imagine physical Vita releases that are PSTV-compatible will have both Vita and Playstation TV logos on the box.

Can't find any good reviews about the media capabilities.specifically if it uses the awesome Netflix client of the ps3/ps4 and Hulu

Curious if the NA version of this hardware will do any better than 720p/30fps when remote playing PS4 games. If I connect both via ethernet, I expect 1080p/60fps...

The limitation is because the Vita straight-up doesn't have the horsepower to handle 1080p video, I'm sure, not because of bandwidth.

i agree that there is 'some' potential for confusion with playstation tv being compatible with vita games, but i absolutely think dumping the vita brand for a product like this is the right move. playstation is a strong brand, vita is not. and many people will be looking at this product as a competitor to the amazon fire tv, roku, apple, tv, etc. while the app selection is certainly not as vast as it is for those products, it has games to supplement it's value. will the fact that vita retail games are compatible be confusing? probably, but i'd venture to say that the average person who buys this will probably just launch the store and browse games that way. in which case, if they are only presented with compatible games, they really won't know the difference. sony can also just update the store to reflect this compatibility. where psvita games will also say playable on: 'pstv' next to them

QUESTION for you Vita TV owners out there. So, this is kinda complicated, but here goes:

I have two routers set up for wifi in my house. The secondary router is hooked up to the primary router via 100ft ethernet cable. The reason for this is because I have a lot of thick walls, which makes for a poor signal in some of the areas. If I were to buy a Vita TV, I would have it connected via wifi to the primary router, and my PS4 is connected via a wired connection to the secondary router. Can I still stream my PS4 to the Vita TV despite them being connected to different routers?

What I really hate about my Japanese Vita TV is that you can't have multiple accounts on the same memory card (same goes for Vita, of course).

I think we need to start a twitter campain and bug the people in charge until they listen.

#PSVITAmultipleAccounts

Got a better idea for a hashtag?

They need to make the memory cards cheaper for this to go mainstream. I just can't see it selling with the current atrocious memory card prices.

Out of curiosity... is a DS3 the only controller for this? Cause I was thinking about picking one up for my parents at some point, but they aren't going to keep a game controller on the coffee table.

DS3 is the only one bundled with it but DS4 is compatible as well.

Any other peripheral support is unknown. I think it supports Bluetooth connection to keyboards?

Well that doesn't change matters much sadly. Sony should really do something about that if they want it to be a mainstream box and not just an accessory to other sony devices.

Then again, maybe that's all they want out of it.

So GAF, does anyone know what the recommended internet connection is? This is my home connection:

I was wondering about this, because I feel like this is a perfect gift for my little sister. She's always complaining about how I took all of the game systems with me when I am at college and then she doesn't have anything to do. So, if she has this, maybe it would make me feel a lot better. She has birthday in November too, odds are this will be out by then.

It supports HDMI CEC.

Edit: It also supports the PS3 remote.

This has just highlighted to me how much Europe is getting the shaft on this deal compared to $99 US.

Maybe it's time to start importing again.

I'm guessing its universal hardware and it has a universal PSU? So importing should be pretty simple

Here's my question - can the Vita TV play the Digital vita games you own if you've downloaded them to your PS4? Like, the IGC games we've all been accumulating for the last year?

Definitely thinking about it with that disparity.

You login with your PSN account, you can just download them again on the PS TV.

I've synced my Vita up with the keyboard which comes with Pokemon typing adventure
and it works pretty well, the little stand that comes with it perfect for holding the vita too.

It doesn't appear to be fully supported in all applications, and there appears to be little to no documentation about it online.

To the memory stick, since there's no hard drive? So this really IS a Vita in terms of its guts, eh?

Thanks!

Gonna buy the shit out of it!

Can't wait to play "KILLZONE: Mercenary" on my TV.
It's a FPS game, but I have to play it on my TV just because it's a Cambridge Studio game ^_^
(PS TV compatible -> confirmed!)

I really hope that Sony works to get ISPs/cable companies to put their apps on the PS TV, because I'm in a situation where I can totally use the PS TV for both media and gaming, but without the media support, I'll be forced to get an Amazon Fire TV instead.

Only just realised PS TV Killzone players are gonna have a pretty big advantage over handheld Vita players with the DS4, haha.

I wonder if Sony will push more devs to release patches for their games to make them compatible.

I can't see Western consumers being as forgiving about a lot of their games not working. Uncharted should at least get a PS TV patch.

The price of Vita TV is good. However, the prices of the memory cards are not. Sony needs to cut the prices in half if they want to persuade people to buy the Vita TV.

If the Vita TV actually does decently well in the US (and Europe if it releases there, too), perhaps the Vita will get more games? I'll admit it's a pipedream, but it's possible.

I see PS TV as this:

For an extra one time cost of $99, I get 2 more free games a month from PSN+. That's like $4 per game!

Yup I won't consider buying one until they drop the price of the memory card in-line with or close to standard SD prices.
