Sony's list is just sad. They are the ones selling this device - you'd think they'd go back and patch in PSTV support for any of their own games that aren't completely dependent on touch/camera.

As much as I would like to play this game from Vita Tv. I fully understand it wont work cause its almost purely touch control based F2P game.

Hopefully the list of compatible games isn't too short when it releases here. :(

Wonder what kind of dumb gimmicks Freedom Wars has to make it not compatible. Thought it was a hunting game.

Ah well, Toukiden sequel on the big screen with a comfy controller might be worth the price.

They announced yesterday at the Gamespot something that FW will be compatible with PSTV. Several times ("yes, exclusive to Vita and playable on the PS TV").

Keep in mind that several games weren't compatible day 1, and were patched afterwards to suppport the Vita TV. Freedom Wars could be one of this games.Recent Sony vita games are compatible (GOW Collection, Dead Nation Vita).

Interesting... I wonder why the Japanese release page doesn't list compatibility. They seem to have it for a bunch of coming soon titles and not Freedom Wars... day 1 patch maybe?

WOW

Thats has almost every big game on the system on there. WTF they need to fix this ASAP

I'm not finding too much on Vita TV, so I'm probably just stretching here, but do you all think this device will end up DLNA enabled?

I pre-ordered just in case, but will probably keep it for the PS4 streaming abilities alone.

I guess the gimmicky controls on the Vita prevent porting to this? Really a shame, I was hoping this would help bolster the Vita user base (love me my Vita).

How would you fix this for games that use motion controls in more advanced ways? Games like Killzone can be patched because the motion functions can be replaced by button presses, but games like Tearaway and Gravity Rush simply don't work with a traditional controller.

Preordered this yesterday. I don't really need one but I like the idea of bringing it to my friend's house to Remote Play something and playing a few Vita games on my TV.

It's not straight forward though, is it? These are games potentially using two camera's, a touch screen, a touch pad, gyroscopes. Converting them so they are DS3 compatible is considerable work, really if you want to play Vita games get a Vita.

I really don't think they'll push this as a Vita machine, rather a PS4 extender and PS1/PS Now box.

I don't think Sony is interested in offering DLNA to us any time soon.

At least I can use my white Vita TV though I'm a bit bummed out to see they're releasing a black version. Damn, now I have to get a white PS4!

So this is basically a device that let you place Vita games on your TV anywhere?

I still don't know what it does right, I don't think they are marketing it right.

Shuhei Yoshida said on Giant Bomb's Day 1 stream that was pretty much the reason why they are calling it Playstation TV instead of Vita TV in the west.

Basically, anything you can do on the Vita, you can do on your TV with the exception of some Vita games that use the camera or rear touch pad.

  • Let you play your PS4 remotely or on another TV in your house
  • Play a selection of Vita games on your TV
  • Play downloadable PSP and PS1 games on your TV
  • Plays Netflix and Hulu

pretty sure every dual shock 3 is a motion controller.

Going to pick another unit on release just so I can play Hotline Miami 1 and 2.

Has HM 1 been released in Japan yet as I can not find it or is it a Cero Z credit card purchase only.

The PS TV also plays PlayStation Mobile games if thats a positive.

Those expecting 4oD or ITV player sevices in the UK only need to look at Bravia to see thats not going to happen.

A port of xbmc/openelec wouild cover most bases.

Tearaway, yeah, but Gravity Rush would be fine on a DS3- the only major touch screen features to my recollection are the slide (can be replaced with L2+R2 or L3+R3) and the "touch boss to begin finishing move cutscene" gimmick which can be replaced with a button press.

I'm sure it's just a matter of the install base not being big enough to justify going back and patching them yet.

I agree. There are several games like Sly 4 and Sound Shapes that could be patched to use the control schemes that already exist on the PS3 versions of those games.

Can't they make the Vita act as a controller with a patch?

Thank you so much.
The list is pretty huge, bigger than expected and includes games that really interest me.
I thought that PsTV was almost totally compatible with avita games

I figured the no list would be just the built around touch games. So things like Tearaway.

Is there any plan to make things compatible, like encouraging devs to patch games to enable controller functions to take over parts of controls? You'd think with a DS4 especially that would be quite possible.

Maybe they put some things on the backburner until the (essentially) worldwide launch?

Between regions certain games don't work that do in others so who knows what will and won't work.

I think outside of Asia, this is definitely not going to be any Vitacentric marketing and that's fine. It'll probably do okay if PS Now works great on Vita and the PSone/PSP games pretty much all work.

DS4 wasn't compatible until a while after release in Asia. Hopefully some patches are released before it comes out here.

Where is my PS TV code Amazon, I bought 3 PS4 from yall =(.

Hehehe..I got my PS4 from Gamestop and got the $10 code from Amazon. :p
Not complaining. :)
Cancelled my preordered Vita TV bundle and preordered again with a $10 discount. Decided to get the bundle and a standalone; so a $10 discount was nice for both.

That sort of guarantees 100% compatibility .. No?

Well, I don't think PS TV has streaming capabilities -- by which I mean streaming out to other devices, such as the Vita-as-a-controller. So a lot of touchscreen controls would still not work as intended, if you need to touch a certain spot on the screen related to the image displayed onscreen, since the Vita you're holding can't mirror the display.
