Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Naughty Dog) Shown - 2015

That looked good but what really blew me away was when Nate dragged the gun through the sand and made a line in it. But there's no way that's gonna be possible in-game.

Also, LOL at Thuway. That's another insider getting called out by the employees/ex-employees, though I kind of liked "he who shall not be named on GAF", but libel isn't something to take lightly.

Why not? Uncharted 2 had this when you walked across the snow, and to a lesser degree Uncharted 3 did this in the sand (so did Journey another PS3 game)

Disappointed that this is yet another globetrotting adventure. It has become such a tired trope in games. DF was the best Uncharted and I enjoyed TR 2013 more than AT and DD. A single location can still have varied environments but in my opinion it helps to really set a sense of place and atmosphere. I'm sure it will still be great though! It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Will they basically stick to Amy and Justin's vision or will Bruce and Neil steer it in a new direction?

Arne, I just saw this, I sincerely, SINCERELY apologize. I promise you, I had zero malicious intent and delete it for one reason, and I swear to God, it was to make sure people didn't think what I said was right after you guys came out and told me I was wrong.

Once again, I'm sorry, and I hang my head in shame. I really am.

BTW the I can't talk about it part implied- I didn't know anything about it. I was under the assumption a behind closed doors gameplay demo was being shown off tommorow and I wouldn't be told about it due to NDA's. Guy's really, if you know me, you know I wouldn't randomly say bullshit like this.

Oh and Arne, if you would like proof, can I please pm you something? Thanks. and this is the last I'll even post about this. Thanks. Thank you so much guys.

"Discretion is the better part of valour"

Even if you don't post your stuff on GAF (anymore), we still have to moderate the people who do, and we can't even link-filter your twitter account because people screenshot your tweets so even if you don't feel that you have any responsibility here since you weren't the one that posted it, you're still the proximate cause. It's a massive headache for anyone involved.

I get that you're a non-industry guy who talks to industry people and you hear things and you've made a name for yourself. Great. But not everything you hear is true, not everything you hear is in context, not everything you hear is the whole story, and you haven't shown discretion when it comes to being able to confirm or filter what you hear from the people you talk to. This is a prime case.

No one thinks you randomly made this up out of whole cloth, but you clearly didn't do the due diligence you needed to do to get it right before you spoke, and it inconvenienced other people. So the correct response isn't "Sorry but I didn't make it up", it's "How can I change my process to have this not happen again?"

you gotta be careful what you say on gaf though, there are a lot of devs here we don't know about ready to fuck you up if they see you lie.

My bad you guys. I just heard someone had an appointment was going to see the game. Hence I assumed it was being shown behind closed doors. I sincerely apologize.

Anyway game looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see more.

Just want to point out that the tweet you made and this post do not aline at all. You made a definitive statement, then followed that up with 'can't talk about it', based on what you now say is 'just heard' and 'I assumed'?

Don't want to pile on, but man, that is pretty crappy, and calls into question pretty much anything you have to 'leak' again.

Edit: Shit, I see others already have. Sorry.

Ok, that is some pretty strange to see "in-engine" emphasizing "real time". Doesn't the former term defines itself definitively? That's like saying it's "black" and the colour is all "dark".

OMG, can't wait for it. The graphics are just crazy and the animations typical for ND top notch. 60 FPS are nice of course but I was fine with 30 FPS Uncharteds all these years and just imagine what they could do then.

Seems like 1080p@60 FPS is finally a big bullet point for the platform holders, especially Sony.

While I can agree that Thuway made a mistake, I see some unnecessary crucifiction going on.

Thuway leaked many correct things, including almost 100% correct PS4 specs and was the only one that hinted at PS4 having more than 4GB RAM (when everyone claimed that PS4 having more than that amount of memory is ridiculous).

So let's stop with "stop pretending you are an insider" crap, because he clearly has a good track record.

Mistake was made, nobody got seriously damaged by it (famousmortimer's case was completely different since he was basically insulting game director with false claims), let's move on.

Ontopic: I hope that ND manages to pull off at least 50-60 FPS in this game. I definitely don't expect locked 60 FPS since this is almost impossible to do on a monster PC in most games, but I sincerely hope that framerate won't be between 30 and 60 FPS.

Yeah come on guys. He feels awful about it, he did as much as he could to rectify the situation and I am sure he is going to take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Lets get this back to discussing how many bandicoots ND is going to have to sacrifice to get this game to achieve that IQ at 60fps

Goodness--it's like everyone is developing games made just for me! More pirates and tropical locales and globe-trotting adventures! Thank god for the PS4's capture ability because I will be capturing TONS of pics and vids of my many, many playthroughs of this one because you simply can't properly appreciate how much detail goes into a game like this without taking your sweet time. Can't wait!!

old shit?

Definitely feels they are going full circle back to Uncharted 1 like setting. Me likes.

+1. We should give Dr.Bird some slack. He is a really good guy and I am sure is heart was in the right place.

So what happened to that planned leak of The Last Guardian being cancelled? You know, the one where Sony planted a false leak to catch the leaker and ninja his ass?

I heard you're a legit source.

Does any other studio know how to push console hardware like Naughty Dog does?
It's almost seems like every time they make a game, it establishes a new graphical benchmark.

Maybe Square back in the SNES and PS1 days?...

All I can say is if Naughty Dog gets anywhere remotely close to that cutscene for actual gameplay and have it be 60fps, it will forever answer the question that devs get way more out of hardware from consoles then they do pc's.

I guess ND loved what they saw when they ported TLOU on Ps4 at 60 FPS. Their god teir animations must be face melting at 60 FPS.

Just watched the Gamersyde trailer. Far and beyond anything I've ever seen in terms of graphics. I feel like it's too good to be real time, so I'll still hold my verdict for when I see actual gameplay.

Simply unbelievable.

It obviously may look slightly different due to camera angles, but with them touting "in engine" so much, I'm thinking gameplay will be right on par. Which obviously if true means some seriously awesome looking games are coming this gen.

Definitely feels they are going full circle back to Uncharted 1 like setting. Me likes.

There will definitely be a setting like Drake's Fortune, as illustrated by the teaser trailer, but you should know that Drake will be globetrotting yet again in this iteration.

Which excites me because, while a single setting is nice, by globetrotting they can create more diverse environments, IMO.

Watched this teaser 6 times by now, there's just something about it I really love.

The music is AMAZING.

No, it is definitely real-time, (as my post yesterday might hint) I had one of their devs explicitly confirm to me yesterday that it is running in real time, on a single PS4 and not pre-recorded.

Beginning with Uncharted 4, all Naughty Dog games will feature completely in engine, real time, 3D cutscenes (if they even stay cutscenes anymore), a huge performance departure from what they used to ship.

So I then asked Richard about it and whether he could spot any signs that the trailer was real time, which he did in his updated post:

Quote:
We've studied the video in a little more depth and have concluded that it's definitely running at native 1080p resolution (as opposed to being rendered at a very high resolution, then scaled down - a process known as super-sampling). Small clipping anomalies, a touch of specular aliasing on Nate's shirt as he sits up, along with some shadow aliasing on his forehead also suggest a real-time render. On the face of it, we're still looking at some pretty incredible anti-aliasing here for a real-time technique on a game running at 60fps, particularly when it comes to the perfect, artefact-free rendering of Nate's hair - but the combination of the low contrast setting, slow camera movement, motion blur and depth of field would work well generally in making aliasing much less of an issue.

But wow, what an incredible achievement less than a year in the PS4's life.
And at 60fps no less.
