E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

What's the best Kirby games guys? I have never played one, apart from a little bit of the 3D-remake in color VC game on 3DS, which I frankly thought was a bit boring

don't kill me, genuinely interested in playing the good ones

I really like the fact that everything moves in these stop-motion-animations, like an animated movie. ^^

The effect is compounded by the artificially low frame rate of the background animations (not the frame rate of the game in a technical sense, which is smooth as can be). The movements of the trees and flowers look discrete in a way that captures the stop-motion aesthetic perfectly; the animation frames look spaced out from one another, if you know what I mean.

People harp on the technical ability of the Wii U (a legitimate concern when it comes to multiplatform porting from third parties) but Nintendo games like these, stretching all the way back to the tradition of storybook games like Yoshi's Island and Paper Mario, are built to age incredibly well. Timelessness isn't an accident; it's a consequence of long-term thinking in good design.

Canvas Curse is the best Kirby game.

If we're talking specifically Kirby games that are actually traditional Kirby games, Amazing Mirror

Super Star is a must play. Epic Yarn is a great one as well.

Seeing art styles like this, Yarn Yoshi or Rayman just makes me more confused about the state of Mario side scrollers. Compare NSMB to this.

Yeah, as much as I love NSMBU the graphics look damn uninspired compared to this type of games. Hope the next side-scroller game can be get more wild in terms of art-style. My dream is to see a Mario game with this art style:

Avalanche, Canvas Curse, Super Star, Dream Course, Tilt'n'Tumble, Epic Yarn (even though it's super easy), and the last one for the Wii.

this reminds me of the late 90s/early 2000s where everyone got excited that with the new hardware we got to see a sudden shift in fidelity for the franchises we love

except now instead of more powerful hardware meaning sharper graphics or textures, it means Nintendo gets to use it for some really creative art styles.

Visually the game is just incredible. They have absolutely nailed that claymation look. Totally looks like something Aardman would come up with, and that's the best praise I can think of.

They just confirmed more transformations. No surprises there, but I'm excited to see what they are.

Also, some really fiendish obstacle courses in this game. Kirby just swam through a billion Gordos while being propelled by water currents. Like threading a needle!

Music is so good, too. And the variety of backdrops is INSANE!
