PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

So who is excited for another borderlands port....

I am, borderlands TPS...if its coming though. The BL2 Vita sales, I dunno, dont seem too good :C I say this based on v g chartz since they seem up to date. Yeah, I know they're numbers arent accurate.

I think, the following gif, describes E3 for vita well

I watched the Giantbomb chat w Shu and Boyes... with all the crap that has happened to the Vita, I can't help but feel rather :/ watching them.

There was one particular line that Boyes mentioned like how Sony has announced so many games but yet people are still unhappy. He kinda shrugged thereafter.

Idk... you guys have been building the list, you read GAF - isn't it clear what we want?

But if it doesn't translate to sales what do you want them to do?

If anything this remote play thing is porbably the only thing extending the vita past its logical lifetime.

I am! Why? Are we getting one??

When does the next one come out? Add about 1.5-3 years to that... so In 2017 if the Vita still has development ongoing at that point, I'd guess?

And what they ARE doing (if you can qualify it as DOING anything) is?

Playing dumb or are they really deluded(yeah right)....

What they are doing is something that you should do when a product unequivocally failed in what it was originally supposed to do. Reposition it as something else and hope that it works. Or drop it off entirely.

I think people expect big game support are just deluding themselves. It's never going to happen. The vita just does not have the sales to justify it and it is too late to turn it around unless you slash and burn the price.

Also honestly I could care less about the big games. As long as niche publisher like Xseed release stuff for it or niche games like atelier comes to it, I'll be happy enough.

you know with all the Nintendo news.. I kinda wonder how things would be if Nintendo released the Vita instead. (yea there won't be RemotePlay and fantastic sales/discounts on games)

but w the whole Miiverse, StreetPass, software support, I can't help but think how the Vita would have flourished under a different platform holder.

pardon my negativity (I'm usually quite positive for my cherished handheld) but sigh.

uhh, ok sure

trying to figure out ahead of time if it'll be an actual game card, and if any of it will have to be downloaded like Sly 3 was (and therefore irredeemable on my US account), and if so if we'll be able to buy them individually on our side so I can supplement whichever one is download-only (highly unlikely, obviously)

The 3ds and Vita are products of their companies dna. Sony's a predominately a console company and Nintendo handheld.

But there's no point in moping about something you can't change. If you want something positive just look at that list of Vita indie games playable on E3 floor. I'm sure there's more than enough quality games to be played coming out in the future to keep me busy. Quite frankly I rather support them and feel just a little appreciated at least, than taken for granted or ignored by certain other big publishers.

Highly likely no retail in US.

nothing wrong w indies - I play plenty of them on my Vita and I enjoy them (:
Sony could sure do more to showcase those indies (which they did in E3 2013)... but I have no comments for this year's :/

I hear it'll likely be another Sly situation - two on the card, one digital.

that's lame, there's no reason they can't fit all 3 games on that bluray disc :P

but yeah... R&C will probably cost me double in the long run if i go physical... with my backlog, i suppose i can always pick up the whole trilogy digital when it's $20 or less

Not sure this is the right thread for this, but...

Just got a PS4!! Wooo!

And now I'm on the PS Store looking at these protection plans. I got it new from one of those ebay deals. And it's legit new, everything shrink wrapped and sealed, a buy-it-now sale, etc. I assume that if I file a claim I'd need to show a store receipt...I believe that used to be the case at least, but I don't see that in any of the info for the current plans.

Anyway, would having an Ebay printout receipt disqualify me for a plan? Should I just save my cash and pray to Cerny every night?

only you would say dat since that is all you play. Obviously.

There was another Borderlands announced for vita?

Tales from the Borderlands was announced for Vita. I'm just saying Sony should've gotten a Vita port of Mortal Kombat X and The Pre-Sequel. Previous entries in those franchises are on Vita and the successors run on the same engines.

-snip-
-a PS4/Vita port would probably make them more money than PS4/X1. I don't care what anyone says, the FF fanbase (heck, SE games (Talking FF and KH here) aren't on Microsoft Consoles. Not speaking out of fanboyism, but it's a damn fact. A type-0 3DS port would sell more than a X1 port. And that's because Nintendo still has a sizable FF fanbase from the SNES/GBA/Crystal Chronicles era. Xbox has close to none

Hell I think a PS3 port would sell more than a PS4/Vita/X1 port would since that is where the current mainline FF fanbase is (XII trilogy, X/X-2, XIV)

And that's where I think Square made the biggest mistake, if anything, they should of have placed it on the PS3 where it will make the most impact. That console will have a long lifespan just like the PS2. -snip-

Completely agree. Like Kagari mentioned, it is quite a disservice to their main fans base that they are releasing Type-0 on the PS4. Sure, in a year or so when the game comes out, a lot of gamers will have a PS4 as their main console, but it's quite safe to assume that a ton of gamers will still keep their PS3.

It really is a very, very odd decision, especially when with FFXIII and FFX/X-2 HD they have already carved/reassured a FF niche on PS3 and Vita.

LOL, I saw the YouTube video where this comes from. Funny, sad and true.

Meanwhile at Nintendo booth, people waiting in lines to play WiiU games.

Yeah. if Sony had gone as hard as Nintendo has with their initially failing platform (despite the stumbles and resistance), we wouldn't be in this situation.

I know that everything from launch, to Gravity Rush, to AC: Liberation, to LBP, Soul Sacrifice, Killzone, Tearaway, crossbuy/multiplatform etc were their versions of trying and I love all that... but you, know... none of that shit exists without marketing and reputation to make them matter. All the awful bundles we got over here and the retailers they left hanging or failed to incentivise to stock or display... all the time wasted delaying new hardware in the west + memory card price drops... all the flagships they didn't use or that they let go. ffs.

Total self-sabotage.

it looks interesting might buy it if it's good.

MKX would be a megaton for me I love the MK series but I suck at fighting games :/

Considering that all PS4 are less than a year old, you can just buy the plan. They keep track of how old it is and everything and apparently you just call them up and tell them you want another one and they do it. Also works for controllers.
