Brazil's performance really isn't that surprising tbh, a lot of their key players have been really out of form at club level since the confederations.

Croatia are decent but aren't a top class side. Brazil will need to improve a hell of a lot if they're to win the WC. And Neymar will have to actually impose himself on a game. Not been impressed by him this evening.

You know, we can all remove Brazil right now from winning the world cup, if they play like this against a big team, they lose big time.

Yeah, I'm thoroughly unimpressed. If The Netherlands make it to the next round vs. Brazil, I now think we have a good chance of beating them.

Lol at this sport not using replay for that in 2014

FIFA more or less admits the controversies resulting from not using replays are worth it. They would rather have the public talking about the mistakes instead of stopping the game for a few minutes so the officials can see the replay.

Luiz afro fucked things up there. Just slid off his fro. If he cut his hair it would have been on net.

Yeah but

They don't have to play well to win the WC with this quality refereeing.

They'll get better as the tournament goes on. Spain won in 2010 after losing against Switzerland in Game 1.

Still though, hate these bullshit host-favouring decisions. Should still be 1-1.

I'm not aware of any sport that allows challenges of calls like that. You can't challenge pass interference or similar penalties in American football.

Sepp Blatter wants to propose a challenge system if he got re-elected next year, which probably ain't gonna happen now.

Edit for quote: p
"Blatter also caught world football's ruling body by surprise on Wednesday by proposing a new television review system that would go well beyond the goal-line technology already being used in some countries.

He suggested that a manager or coach could be allowed to challenge up to two refereeing decisions in a game.

"If a manager disagrees with a decision, he could ask for an immediate television review with the referee," said Blatter. "It's something new."

Any such plan would need to be approved by the International Football Association Board."
