E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

Never played smash before (played brawl for 5 min at a friends house and got murdered) i think ive finally worked out whats going on. The higher the percentage the more change of getting knocked out and the icons at the bottom are lives? Is it a game that's quite hard to be competent at?

Nah, it's real accessible as long as you're not trying to play at a tournament level.

You got the gist of it. The higher the percentage, the more easily you get knocked back. If you go off any edge of the screen, you die. In this mode, they lose lives, or stocks. In Time, it's by who killed who and point-based.

The KO punch did nothing on Bowser. I know he was at a low % but still.

I think they wanted to balance it a bit so that they could allow it to happen decently often without being completely overpowered. If it was a one hit KO, it would mean the move should be very, very difficult to pull off and so would rarely occur.

Two fundamentals to learn and keep in mind, IMO:

1. Shielding, Rolling, and Dodging- Defensive play and maneuvering are at least half of the battle. You can quickly press down while shielding to dodge in place quickly.

2. Normal (non special) moves are often more important than special moves. Learn to use the B button moves as a supplement because your fastest most reliable moves will be variations of your basic kick and punch.

Erik! Erik.

(haven't posted in this thread yet despite me watching pretty much all of the Treehouse stuff and I thought that would be the most fitting thing to say)

He was sitting there and he says, let me talk about something, and he pulls out a blue 3DS and a gold 3DS. Then he goes on about digital games and slightly different Miis on each, and all the while I'm leaning in, waiting for that one thing I've been wanting Nintendo to do since I got my 3DS…

And he was just making a point about dog fooding the systems and games and how he loves them so much totally ignoring the hassle of a game collection spanning two systems.

AUGHHH!

Other than that, this E3 has been stellar.

Thanks. I might get the 3ds one when it releases, then decide if its worth getting the wii u one.

Reggie was there because he had a few minutes to be there. He talked about that because it's not an interview and he can talk honestly without thinking about PR nonsense. I think it's a bit silly the expectations that went on that time.
