I dunno why people are having so much trouble with the Spider Tank. It was a long and sustained battle but it felt perfectly paced to me. I admit I was surprised it turned out to be a tougher boss than the big purple orb but it was fun and challenging.

The battle for myself and the 2 others I was with lasted about 20-30 minutes and it was relentless the entire time.

Played my first round with a fellow Gaffer and it was a lot of fun. I loved just exploring the area and stumbling upon the cave full of ?? enemies that one shotted us. That was a little taste of things to come.
Crucible was also a lot of fun and I usually avoid all competitive multiplayer modes!
I hope they add at least another area for the beta and/or raise the Lv cap, otherwise it would be too repetitive.
The only thing that could ruin the game for me is if Bungie doesn't deliver enough content once the game launches but they said they were constantly developing new content after the game comes out so I'm not too concerned.

I really like that certain areas are basically off limits until you are at a higher level due to enemy strength. I know I'll enjoy going back and whooping some ass when I'm stronger.

Just joined the GAF clan. PSN: GhostFaceDon

I like how although the level cap for this Alpha is 8, you can continue to obtain Glimmers and upgrade your characters skill tree. Also, I was able to upgrade my Assault Rifle. It gave the option to increase Attack power and also opened up a Skill tree for other things as well.

After all this, I went ahead and pre-ordered the game (PSN). There's no way I'm going to miss out on the Beta.

It won't let me play through Remote Play on my Vita from work because it says it cannot connect to PSN.. yet I'm signed in.

Anyone having this problem of it saying it cannot connect to PSN ?

*Edit* working now... odd.

I think I like the Moon map for Crucible more than the Earth one.

Maxed out, and I'm enjoying the shooting for the most part. Occasionally getting one-shot by some gun in Crucible, usually by some guy camping in a corner, but not that big a deal. I'm looking forward to what actual skill customization there is in the main game. I can see where the guns and armor can be customized at least a little bit, at least the green ones can.

Also, interested in what the different ships/vehicles actually improve.

I thought I played more then that.

Has Bungie said whether or not the characters are stored on a central server? Basically, I want to know if I buy the game on XB1 and PS4, can I use one character across both platforms?

I have friends on each platform and i'd rather put all my effort into one character, splitting my time among two separate characters on each platform.

You talking about the big purple orb that's off in tunnel behind the area where a lot of dreg missions are? I hit him once with my R1+L1 power and he just died immediately. DIdn't know that was a boss.

Played the Devil's Lair with 2 random partners, and damn, it was intense. We were all 3 around Level 6-7. Very, very fun, the alpha definitely sold me on the full game when I was skeptical before.

No, that's a different one.

I may be a complete moron, but after at least a dozen hours of the alpha, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to bring up a map in the open world areas (in the central hub, the Tower, there’s a map you can view at the start of the area, but only at the start of the area). I can’t tell if A) the map is hidden somewhere I simply can’t find or B) it’s purposefully not part of the game to encourage exploration. I guess that’s kind of cool in theory, but when you’re dropped into a sprawling map and have to navigate using visual landmarks alone, it can be a bit exhausting. In the “roam around” segments, it’s easy to get lost as you trek across the world for sub-missions, and with no map with landmarks or custom waypoints to get you to a specific place. You simply follow the quest indictors alone. Perhaps once you learn the levels this won’t be an issue, but it’s strange to have an open world game like this with no map whatsoever. Additionally, I dislike how mission waypoints have to be refreshed by clicking the central touchpad on PS4, which slows down your character and breaks the flow of gameplay. In a perfect world, simply brushing the touchpad should produce the same effect with no loss of momentum. What’s the point of it being a touchpad if you have to click the entire damn thing?

This point bothers me, too.

Considering that I got to level 8 in like 3 hours, I'm hoping the max level isn't 20, and that's just the max for the first area/world or something.

Had a lot of fun with the Alpha, probably going to do Devils Lair again if I get the chance and some PVP.

my thoughts on the alpha (so far)

there is an unusual amount of spaceship-centered buying / upgrades / etc for a game where you travel by cutscene.. I'm guessing this will be much different in the real game

walking around the hub city in 3rd person is odd.. feels like something between mass effect on the citadel or KOTOR.. very MMO-like with random other people hopping around and climbing on vendors' desks

crucible is standard bungie multiplayer matchmaking

wandering around the open areas feels really big, with lots of buildings and caves to explore.. I went too deep down a few holes and found some badass enemies that strongly encouraged me to turn back

maps are gorgeous and the graphics in general are pretty stunning

this weekend isn't going to be long enough, and the wait until the beta starts will be extremely painful. this game is a day1 buy for sure, possibly on both consoles for me unless my one friend picks up a PS4.

Can't post too much as I'm on mobile atm, but in a nutshell I'm blown away with how they've accomplished their vision from what I've played so far. It's tight, responsive, gorgeous, and the gameplay systems all compliment the whole package perfectly. The AI does awesome stuff like hiding behind cover dynamically almost in a sneaking fashion. Very impressed with what I'm playing right now and feeling very confident about my pre-order. Aside, I came upon enemies in an area I couldn't take down because they were too high a level! I love that kinda stuff, so glad it's implemented in this game.

Am I the only one who thinks character classes are a terrible idea?

Forcing players into specific a archetype / playstyle based on a decision they make before they've even played the game and then giving them no way to change it without starting over and losing their progress just makes no sense at all to me.

This is probably my single biggest issue with Destiny. Everything else I'm confident that Bungie will work out, but classes look like they're here to stay.

I'm guessing you need to upgrade your ship to get further away from earth in the full game.

Man. I don't enjoy the crucible with those vehicles in the map. It's bad enough I drop in a flash if I'm spotted and I don't see them first, but I don't even know the approach to those stupid tanks rolling in and messing things up. I'd like to play it with no vehicles that can attack

The 3rd person view in towns looks kind of janky. Reminds me of Skyrim style sliding. Would probably look better if they just stuck to first person.

You can have multiple characters.

I played on a map that didn't have vehicles. So in the full game I'm guessing there will be a mix of vehicle maps and no vehicle maps.

So far, I dig the PvE co-op, but haven't found the PvP to be anywhere near as fun or interesting as Halo. Destiny may only be co-op focused for me. Really annoyed with the third person camera switch during supers which tends to get caught up on something you didn't think it would when initiating it from first person.

He should just use the arrow in the top left corner above the minimap to navigate to the objective. There's no need to bring up Ghost all the time.

I like it. Only level five and got the odd upgraded gear but it's good, lots of potential over a long period of time. Only thing I can't figure out or maybe you just can't do it but, how do I jump into the story mode with random Players? Can I not do that, do they have to be on my friends list to then invite?
