It's interesting to me that some of the complaints are that it's "nothing special".

That would make sense I guess. It would feel like a much different game I imagine.
Well I'm "glad" I'm not the only one having problems trying to login. Canada here. Currently have the ps4 connected in my room, so it's wireless right now. I was going "I know the wireless is like 10 times worse compared to the wired connection, but it's not THAT bad that it would have problems connecting to psn, it's still around 14 mbps down and 3 up."

This game is pretty great fun and just plain pretty based off of the
small environments we get to play around in. Will be picking this one up.
Genuinely surprised I'm having this much fun, gonna pick it up again after work. How long is this beta again?

Depending on your weapon/level/skill, that spider tank is pretty easy ...
just shoot it in the legs and have good cover

It feels like a good game. Shooting feels great, I can see where the multiplayer hooks will be enjoyable.
I think people are going to be disappointed if they're falling for Activision's marketing that this will be a huge, revolutionary tentpole for this generation. It's real fun, but it probably won't blow your mind.

What area?
I got to the forgotten beach or something like that. It was a new area I hadn't discovered yet. But the area just last that is full of ?? Level enemies.
How do you get to the highway area from the original reveal? Also the Luna conquest map I cannot find a match for.

Boo, first crash. Luckily I was just idling in the Tower. Can I do anything with materials in the alpha? Picked up a few, but doesn't seem to relate to any of the vendors. May just be for later in the game that's not available yet. Also, is dismantling the only way to sell old kit/junk or am I doing myself out of glimmer that way?
You can definitely do solo, though I think it's a bit harder doing strikes/events/campaign that way.
If you're talking about the area with the cars, then it's through the building in explore (it's basically opposite of where the arrow always wants you to go) ... we just made our way through the building and you come out on the other side ...
And by building I mean that huge wall of a thing, not some small random building ...
If you mean those plants you collect, then you can turn those in at the crucible weapons vendor for those crucible tokens ...
Options menu, far left tab, and you can invite/join friends to your strike team ... (I'm at work atm, but I think that's where it was)

I had already preordered for the beta access but now I'm keeping it for launch. This game is everything I could have dreamed of, it's a shooter with fucking raids!

Just got my code, downloading now..... However my daughter has just been born! Have a full night to play it tomorrow though as my wife will be in hospital, my older daughter staying at grannies and visiting kicks out at 8.
How to get to the cool car area, by Gaz_RB:
1) Spawn in Explore mode.
2) Head to the right for awhile until you see a building on the edge of the area that leads to the next area.
3) Walk through the linear connection hallways until you get to the next area, The Divide, which is sort of a wide open area with lots of enemies around.
4) Head to the right from where you entered again, towards the edge of the area once again. The cliff/water should be on your right. You should see burnt out tanks. On that far wall to the right by the burnt out tanks, there is a sort of cave entrance thing that's kind of hard to spot. Head through there and it's just a linear connection to the car area.

Was just wandering around and came upon the devil walker. Took it down on my own (after quite a few respawns), but it just disappeared and I don't think I got any XP for it. Do I have to start it as a mission for it to count?
I don't think it was that bad. Annoying I your own, but a group should be able to take it down fairly easily. The most difficult part was getting to the back legs when it is always pointing towards you

Exactly ... it's way easier with a group because you can surround the walker ...

Any luck with the Luna map? I've tried so many games (12 or more) and all came up on the Rusted Earth one or whatever it's called. I enjoy the MP a lot.

I haven't yet played the MP mode but I reckon that's where more of my time could be spent, unless I get addicted to taking pictures instead of looting.

Played a few hours last night and really enjoyed it. I have it pre-ordered since last year and will be keeping that intact.
I hate when the game switches to third person though, I hope that's an option in the retail version to keep it first person at all times. Including the shopping hub area.

Strange, I get Luna so often and I prefer the Rusted Earth map haha. Just unlucky matchmaking, unfortunately. Keep at it!

This game could be fantastic. Lot of potential . Very promising for a Alpha build
I wouldn't count on it. An option would be nice even though I personally would not use it. I like the transition from third to first person.

How does voice chat work for this? Can people hear each other within close proximity? or do you have to be in a party together to talk? Also, is there a quick and easy way to join a party with a stranger?

I believe someone posted earlier that the Alpha defaults you on only seeing friends but there's an option in the menu to see all people. Not sure what menu options, sorry but look around through the menus.
