PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Yeah, I read it a while ago. What I wanted to highlight is that Japan Studios doesn't release so many internally developed games.

Soul Sacrifice, Hot Shots Golf, Freedom Wars, White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Patapon and a lot of other games are collaborations. Even if Sony internal studios are "switching" to the PS4, the Vita can still get great games from Japan Studio's partners.

Oh yeah, that statement I agree with. I just hope that down the line the restructuring actively results in the internal development teams within Japan Studio to release more games on a more consistent basis. If it means transitioning to a primarily PS4 focus to do so so be it.

That's it, I've ordered a 64GB memory card for 100€ shipped (no customs hassle guaranteed, Amazon.de warehouse and all that).

Thanks for nothing, E3 :)

E3 was shit, but the demo of Freedom Wars is really, really good. Graphics are amazing, the story mode is the real deal (not lore text like SS), and I was amused doing shit and saw more years of prision added to my sentence. Characters more a little slow for my taste, but the action is fast and furious like SS, and there isn't the boredom slow like molasses of MH and Toukiden. Verticality with the Ibara is a much needed twist to the MH formula.

All those small details (like the surprising accurate name speech) and great customization. Could be one of the best vita games if there is enough content.

I agree that this game is running with the engine that draws power from Vita a notch more than other games.
The reason I noticed it is that it seems like the demo drains my battery life rather quickly than other games.

About the #psvitadirect , isn't that kind of what the PSblog is.. is the dream to have several things at the same time or do people want something like the EA conference?

I'm really trying to not buy Muramasa with hopes it becomes a PS+ freebie next month...

Buy it and show support. It's worth the price and it's deserving of the funds. What happens if it's not announced for plus at the end of the month? Will you hold off believing it's bound to happen next plus releases?

If its not announced for July ill probably end up buying it immediately. You make it sound like holding off for PS+ games is a bad thing.

so guys, a friend is selling me his PSP. what are some games I should definitely check out (which are not avaible via PSN / playable on Vita).
Will definitely get Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Crisis Core and Type-0 - anything else?

What's the overall consensus on the Valkyria Chronicles PSP titles? I heard the 2nd one sucks - should I skip it, just watch the anime for the first one (no PS3 here) and jump directly in the fan transaltion of the third?

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. It's my favorite KH game.

So I wasn't the only one who thought of that.

I wish that the Vita had a removable battery. Li-Ion battery degrades over time, and since I'm in a tropical country, it kills mine faster than most people's.

Do they even officially sell Vita batteries?

Play it in order. The second one is actually good. Except the characters. Well, the main character specifically.

It's a problem of story-telling, rather than problem of story.

Is it running in native res?

Vita's battery is removable, you just have to take out some screws. AFAIK Sony doesn't officially sell any replacements, so you have to buy a sketchy third party thing.

Really wanted something to read, so I went ahead and got Sweet Fuse. Couldn't really get into Hakuouki for some reason, so hopefully this grabs me more. Not many good looking guys on the cast though, and I have to end up with one of them? Blegh.

I'm in the Destiny Alpha. Who else here is apart of it?
I am one of the select few gaming elite that was personally hand picked amongst the pleebs. Bow before me, and grovel at my well manicured feet resting upon gold covered strawberries and steak.

Oh snap...we have a Bungie clan..? I might need to look in to that.

thinking about hopping over to the mall and buying a 1 year PS+ card, I let mine run out back in march, but I feel like finally playing Dragons Crown (i wanted it on vita, I dont even have my ps3 plugged in anymore)

Hey guys, I have a question, does "Playable" in the download queue mean that it's completely downloaded AND installed? or is it that feature that allows you to play while still installing? I want to say that hasn't hit yet but this is the first time I've tried downloading to my PS4 from a computer. The Destiny Alpha finished quicker than I expected and then I tested Stick it to the Man and it was pretty much instant...BUT I did try to download it to my system before I went to lunch and then on lunch break, went home and realized my PS4 needed to update and that's what was preventing the download so I allowed it to do that and then left. I'm thinking it downloaded Stick it while I was at lunch and when I got back to work, I just attempted to re-download it since the download list doesn't indicate if you already have it downloaded or not. I just want to make sure this isn't a glitch to be concerned about.

Edit: They are also sitting on Step 3 but I have no idea what Step 3 and 4 are. I figured Step 3 is Installation and 4 Complete but then why does it say they are playable?

can someone please explain what has happened to PSM, is it only for vita now and does that mean that it's more powerfull now. If so, can this reult in us getting more advance games and applications?

I think you're referring to PSM SDK v2.0, which is now Vita only and will require a re-write of the code to work (PSM SDK v1.2 isn't directly compatible).

This doesn't mean that PSMobile on the whole is now Vita only however, as SDK v1.2 is still supported and supports PlayStation Certified devices - it's just that they're giving the Vita its own "category" of sorts so that developers have more Vita-specific development options (such as supporting the hardware buttons).

I caved in and purchased Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational.

I was waiting and waiting for a download release but it never came. This would be the perfect game to have native on your system while other games (cards) come and go.

I'm sure this will play it's course until AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead & Undressed comes out!

Did you mean sale or a PS+ "freebie"? Because the game's always been on PSN:

PSM 2.0 and Unity for PSM are Vita-only. I can't imagine a lot of people are going to want to use the older versions.

I finally snapped up a PSP-3000 yesterday to replace my aging PSP-2000 (battery no longer holding charge and UMD drive having problems reading disks) because Sony is going to stop making them. Don't want my UMD game collection to go to waste. But man, after getting used to high-res displays, PSP's screen looks... bad.

PSN down for anyone else?
Seems to be fine here.

Got a notification on via the playstation app on both my phone and ipad this morning at work that it am in the Destiny alpha.

Home now and downloading, but is there a way to remotely power on the PS4 when you're not on your home network? I could have had this installed and waiting for me.

For that matter, other questions arise as a new PS4 user... Do we have any kind of Q and A thread for general PS4 hardware/software?
