Uch, the DS4 is such an awful pad for FPS.

Trying to get back on and its giving me PSN errors. It did not briefly last night too the first time I tried to log in. Weird. PEACE.

Ohh god, this is not going to turn into another "symmetrical sticks" shit show, is it?

Also, I think PSN is fine. If you go to the alpha forums, they say at the top in red that they are currently undergoing some maint to fix something. So i dont think its PSN.

I can check my friends just fine.

I don't mind (I just assume all controllers are equally bad for FPSes) but for such an ambitious, big-budget game I was disappointed by the fact they don't use the touchpad. All you can do with it is click to show the map.

Likewise, they should play the radio messages through the controller speaker, or at least offer the option. That was a cool feature in Infamous: Second Son

Edit: The analog sticks are shit. When I keep the left stick forward for long periods of time my thumb would slowly slip off.

For everyone that can't connect to the server, go to settings --> Network --> Test Internet Connection. A friend of mine told me this and it fixed my issues. Don't ask me why or how.
Thank you, this worked like a charm. Could a mod put this in the OP for newcomers? PEACE.

I wish Bungie would swap L2 and R2 for the speeder bike controls. Accelerating with L2 and braking with R2 goes against what racing games have been doing for years

There are several control schemes in the Options menu but I don't know if there's one which changes just that.

Halo's had boosting on L2/Left Trigger for over 10 years. They'd be breaking their own convention.

But I don't care, this isn't Halo and I haven't played Halo (why would you release a game on Playstation and expect its users to have played a game that's not available on Playstation?). I don't see why I should adapt my habits (which come from decades of racing games on many different platforms) to them and not the other way around

Because they're not forcing you to play their game?

It's the way Bungie designs their vehicles. Not every developer has to comply with some sort of industry controller layout.

But you don't drive with triggers, you drive by pushing the stick forward. Boost is to go faster than normal speed. This is standard FPS convention, to map vehicles like you're walking, not racing them.

Plus it'd be a pain to hold R2 to boost, and R1 to shoot on some of the vehicles.

Just had a huge game in PvP... went 20-6, 14 kill streak, god damn I'm enjoying this PvP a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. It all somehow, SOMEHOW feels balanced. Mostly because everybody can be powerful and has so many options, it keeps the playing field fairly level throughout.

Then why did you criticize Ubisoft for not including women in Assassin's Creed? They can do what they want, too.

pls

give me the loot

give me all the loot

i hate looking like everyone else :(

I know it's an Alpha. Hit level 6 so I can at least buy some new gear now. I wish the shops would tell you what you own already just so I don't buy the same shit again. How much money you have vs how much something costs is also confusing.

False. The triggers and grip design is superior.

Grip design I will give you, but when it comes to both the triggers and the bumpers, I disagree. I don't even own an Xbone (but I do have a controller for certain PC games) and the the shoulder button sets are miles better. DS4's triggers and bumpers are way too small. I can deal with it, but I really dislike it.

Analog stick layout does not matter to me, as I can deal with either.

DS4 is awesome for shooters. I wish the ghost's voice would come through the speaker though, that would be cool. Also, why is Boost/Brake on the Sparrow ass backwards? I would rather boost with R2, and brake with L2...

Yeah, kinda surprised they don't have Dinklebot talk through the controller as well. It'd be a perfect use for the hardware.

I think I am pretty much done with this Alpha. There just isn't enough content or variety for me to enjoy it for much longer.
I have played it for a little over 20 hours already over the course of the last 3 days and I don't really think there is much left to do. I went to the caves under the crashed ship in the restricted area, found a bunch of dead ends, did way too many of those beacon missions (which aren't any fun) and I beat the strike twice. The PVP feels unbalanced to me and I am not a huge fan.

I will buy it (preordered it a while ago) but I hope the full game has more variety and content that does not consist of bad side missions.

what do you think is not balanced in PVP ?

BF4 also has an option to disable auto-aim , phew.
Good on them for doing so.

Its one thing I hold against Wolfenstein as there were times where the magnetism fucked me over. Trying to nail a long distance headshot on an officer only to have the game's auto-aim magically push my reticle one way or another as my target walked past something that broke direct line of sight. There went my stealth approach ;p

And of course its been in all the Halos, and when things get hairy in firefights you'll find the game pushing your aim towards a different enemy or a fusion coil sitting off to the side.

Bleh.

For an alpha that only lasted about week. I think 20 hours is pretty decent.

It's the classic Halo "ghost" control scheme. It didn't surprise me, but it did give me a moment of pause where I had to remind myself that this is a game by the guys that made Halo.
