Played about an hour so far. Took a bit of getting used to, but so far I like it. only lv 5 or so.

Seems kind of boring single player, but I imagine playing with some friends or online folks is much more enjoyable.

the only problem with that is your character looks nothing like it in-game

no i've been too busy actually playing it

Seriously my character looked so good in the creator. In the game, she was nightmare fuel... I hope this is just due to the Alpha or else I'm always going to keep a helmet on. I'm wondering if they'll implement a helmet on/off toggle like most MMOs...

Has anybody counted the pixels in the alpha yet? I feel like its a tad bit blurry to be 1080p right now.
Yes.

I'd have to agree with the 1920x1080 call, aliases appear to stairstep in clear single pixels. The blurriness is probably a combination of the core imagery and some post-process AA, the whole thing has a fuzzy "look" to it that reminds me of aggressive FXAA, right down to the weirdly-rounded stairstep edges.

I beat that mission alone. It was challenging, but not that hard. I didn't die even once.

Were you high leveled with high armor? It was in an area with lvl4 enemies, and I think I was lvl5 at the time, with about 60 armor. I'm playing right now at lvl8 with 140 armor. I could probably do it easily since I'm geared up, but when I was at the lvl of the area it was impossible.

Mine is kinda like that :o

I guess it's gonna be like most MMORPGs, where there are only two good haircuts and everyone will use those two

Played for 2 hours straight. never got uncomfortable at all, i have quite large hands though. If anything my xbox one controller gives me aches after lengthy sessions.

This game man. Its fucking amazing. When does the Alpha end. Got half way through level 7 in that time.

Sniper rifles are awesome.
just found an awesome pulse rifle with fire damage. will try that tomorrow. 85 damage.

The alpha ends 23.59 PST on Sunday. I've played loads of 360, PS3 and PS4 (amongst others). Never had a problem with any if the controllers. Although after 200hrs of BF4 abuse, the rubber is peeling on the left stick :( My DS3 lasted a bit longer.

lol i know exactly what you mean.

Im thinking with the graphical quality of the game, although good, should surely be hitting alot closer to 60fps. Alpha yep but, 60fps would be butter.

Quality game so far, definitely need to play with some groups, solo'd so far, found it quite easy. Looking forward to delving a little deeper.

So, I just finished the Strike mission and it's not as good as I hoped.

It's just tiring. The bosses are just bullet sponges that you chip away while killing of their missions. Just tedious.

Also, sending waves and waves of enemies at you isn't my definition of fun.

Overall it just bored me a bit. Kind of killed my hype for the game a bit, hopefully overall the missions are more varied than this. A lot more varied.

not sure what i'd pay for in regards to microtransaction it definitely wouldn't be looks since this game is a loot game it shouldn't go to that extent..maybe face/hairs unlock new races like the Lion race everyone wants i guess stuff like that

I think it's more to do with the combination of the controller and the button layouts in-game. I tried them all and the most used commands don't feel comfortable to me.

I mean, that can change and I'm not whining. Just sharing my own experience.

And on that note, the PvP is insane. Other than the surplus of visual information and that lousy announcer, the games I played were really fun. Pikes are so great to drive around. Honestly enjoy it more than what I've seen of the SP.

Will update when I've played more.

This game's tessellation (or POM perhaps?) functions odd. It works when looking directly at a surface or if you're in a 90 degree radius of it, but if you go outside that and look up close, the entire surface gets flattened. I wonder why they did that.

It is important to bear in mind that Bungie have been wary of describing the game as an MMO. Sure, it borrows heavily from the genre: social hubs, vendors, the character/gear screens. But it isn't. And is nowhere near as in depth (not a bad thing).

I'm just saying, don't go in thinking it will be an MMO. I would say it is an FPS first and foremost. With RPG and MMO elements.

How do I get up to scout the battlefield? I'm L5 and the area keeps respawning L8-L9s and I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do

As a last resort, touchpad > triangle, to return to orbit.

Otherwise, touchpad > square, to summon your sparrow and speed past the enemies to a different area.

It really helps if you play with three lvl8 players all with lvl8 gear. But even then sepkus prime feels too long.

Anyone else underwhelmed by its performance? Gameplay feels fine but the AA and FPS leave me longing for a PC version.
Maybe that's why it's an alpha :P

I've only played a little so far, but enjoyed roaming around in the introductory mission and the few online matches I tried were actually pretty fun.

Somebody actually wasted their time to count thousands of little tiny squares?

So is there any reason not to use your Speeder (Sparrow) to get from place to place in a PVP map? Besides showing up on the mini-map. I feel like if everyone did it you could just swarm the opposite team.

I wouldn't say it's awful, but I'm not a fan of it when playing shooters. My hands slip around and the triggers just don't feel great. Haven't played many shooters on the PS4 other than Destiny so I'm noticing the little things that bug me about it. Overall though it's pretty solid.

It's a huge step up over the PS3 obviously, but I still prefer the XO's controller for pretty much everything.

lol thats funny... personally the DS4 felt fucking fantastic with this game (most game for me actually)... still rather use it over XB1 controller too... the only thing i dont like is the rubber on the sticks... it wears out super quick... so i have to keep trading in the controller for new ones... (i have to have "new controller grip" on the stick... lol) the triggers just feel better than the XB1 triggers

I have the feeling Exos will be much less popular than other races and will need bonuses to rebalance the population. Also, while I tend to prefer female avatars in adventure games, the female Exo faces look bad. The male ones are much cooler.

I expect something like 50% Human - 35% Awakened - 15% Exo

Wtf. Anyone else get their game deleted and get a message by PS saying welcome to the alpha? I have to download this shit again.

I thought the exact same thing watching the Evolve Kraken trailer.

I havnt found it a problem with Destiny yet though. I feel like your problem is a by-product of the alpha. Restrictions on where to go and enemy types. Since eventually they will include raids, the bosses will no doubt be bullet sponges, but I anticipate the need for a lot of tactics to keep it fun and interesting. Like raids in WoW or something.

Thanks, I'm surviving okay, I just keep killing them. But there's a platform I'm supposed to get up to so I can scout the battlefield, I just can't find my way up yet

Weirdly enough I just got a code while watching the Giant Bomb Unfinished video. (didn't ask for Alpha access, am Bungie member though)

Characters don't progress, do they?

Have you spent a decent amount of time with the game? He sounds completely uninterested. Almost to the point where it is blatantly obvious. Makes me wonder how Bungie decided that his performance was OK.

I agree he sounds uninterested and very flat but I think it's more of what they wanted from his a.i. personality. But I feel his voice just doesn't work for a sentient robot. I feel like they went with him just because he's hot from game of thrones. But the voice is too distinct that it works against him. It needs some kind of modulation or something.

my thumbs bump A LOT

So far, the only things I think really need fixed are, obviously, the glitch where other players don't show up in the Tower, and bosses taking WAY too many shots to kill.

eh.. i think its more MMO/RPG with FPS elements than the other way around...
