It was a Hive Wizard... And it took sooooo many shots to take down. Maybe I played a different boss :D

Was on the second mission in Russia and the game crashed so hard, it kicked me out.

By the way, is it me or is the music in this amazing?

Yes, the music us awesome.

The Hive Wizard regens his shield when not being shot. Also, he may be elite so has more HP
You need sustained fire on him.

I wouldn't mind bullet spongy bosses as long as they mix it up in terms of both attack patterns and visual cues. I see a lot of repetition with the ones in the alpha. Such long drawn out boss fights beg for more variety in boss capabilities. Would like to see more variation in the exploratory missions as well.

Boss fights that take this long should have boss transformations as they pass certain health levels.

Whats the max players coop?

What race is the most melee oriented?

What class is everyone using and why!?

My alpha is still dling...

3. 6 in Raids. Raids are in full game.

Titan or Warlock. Titan has punch that is good. Warlock has magic blast which is even better (but is technically not melee). I do find that there is a small damage difference. My Hunter can't do as much melee damage as my Titan and Warlock, despite being the same level.

Warlock and Hunter, because they're cool.

I like it so far, the warlock reminds me of the siren forsome reason. I haven't tried the pvp yet, but i did find some nice green an purple loot, don't know the rarity of colors yet.

Dax01, can I ask you how you feel about the game after having played it for longer than most of us?

VisceralBowl is already tired of it. I understand that it is a small fraction of the game, but even so, I'm still really enjoying it after 10 or so hours! I think I've just about explored everything... But I can't be sure.
I don't think it's fair to say that you're "bored" of the Alpha. After all, it is an Alpha, an Alpha that nobody was expecting to play. I've had the game for about a little over a week now, and I was lucky enough to play the Pre-Alpha, and I only get on for about a half 'n' hour to play every now and then, or to play with others cause that's fun. I've done everything that's possible. I'm not bored...just need more stuff to do.
On another note, do you think they will add an in game map at a later date, to keep track of where you are? I feel like it would be useful, but then again, I like exploring without it, and getting my bearing by landmarks and shape. Its a refreshing change.
From what I've heard from the folks at Bungie, we won't be getting a map, but I can't say for sure.

I think this will definitely come later. Especially as they plan on including end-game raids in the final build. They won't get away with just having boring bosses with millions of HP. The fact that there is a stragey to the Devil Walker alludes to them considering this.

Yup. It is Bungie after all and I'm sure they have something in mind. It's just an open issue until they close it.

Totally

6

There's no advantages for race, it's purely cosmetic

Hunter, but they SHOULD be using Warlock ;p

6 is awesome! Look's like I'll be going warlock!

The one thing that is pissing me off is the fact that all it takes is one maxed out guy on the other team to dominate a game. I really don't like how the crucible is balanced/ of lack thereof.

Something Iv noticed. When playing the story and strike mission. There's always one chest in the boss room. You can only pick it up once. Never comes back.

On purpose or Alpha thing?

Yep - just about every last thing about it could be monetized. Really curious to see how hog wild Activision goes with this. Or if they'll do an EA and inject that crap in a few months after launch.

yea, i can see them going that route, that 500 mill aint gonna pay for itself ya dig.......

Fireteams are 3 people. Will be increased to 6 for end game raids in the final build.

I find Hunter to have a speedy melee. They also get a throwing knife to add to their melee prowess.

I'm using the Hunter for the agility (triple jump!) and the throwing knife. Its hella fun.

Most people seem to advocate the others due to being more resilient, having more armour and a more powerful super. Although I find the Hunter super perfectly serviceable. Its maybe less useful in close quarter though.

Anyone getting the cattle error code. I'm logged in fine but my buddy is getting roid rage because he keeps getting the damn cow code

Anyone else getting a PSO vibe from this? Obviously not the FPS gameplay portion, but the core design.

Also, they need to fix the aggressive respawning logic. We cleared an areas after putting in quite a bit of work, walked in the wrong direction for a few feet, turned around and found the whole area was filled with them again. Was fun taking them down the second time, but I can see that becoming frustrating if it happens often.

Thanks for replying. I know what mean, the alpha is like a free gift. I'm not bored yet, but it is making me excited for the real thing!

Edit: the only things that concern me are longevity and DLC content (or other monetisation).

Oooooh guess everyone got invited, as i got a a notice and code.

Long day at work messing with crappy software... Nice surprise.

Ready in 26 minutes!

So it seems to be a pretty common sentiment that the bosses take way too many hits. I think their challenge is good, but I agree they take way too long to drop.

I like it. It took me about an hour to kill the tank the first time. I hated it. Felt like a bullet spongey waste of my time.

The second time, on Legend now, we came up with a plan. Kept a guy on the left to draw aggro, a guy mid-right to heal the others and ping the legs, and a guy in the right bunker to ping legs and shoot it in the head when it revealed itself. :P Took about 15 minutes.

This is the kind of logic and tactics I would hope to see in future boss fights.

I haven't done the strike mission yet, but encountered the Devil Walker in Explore. Managed to solo it, was so disappointed that there was no reward.

I went to the tower today, and other players showed up. I thought that place was supposed to be abandoned at first? It feels much better roaming around there now.

Also, I feel like I'm the only one using a mic in this game. I just end up talking to myself most of the time. I hope people can't hear me while I'm at the tower.
They can't right, please tell me they can't?

It's a fine balance. Too long and farming for quests becomes an issue. Too short and you get your problem. I find it varies depending on where you are. The Rocketyard Hive and Fallen respawn so quickly though.

That right there sums up how a lot of people seem to feel about this game now :)

I started off "this is so cool lets do all the things"

then "hmmm, this pvp isn't as satisfying as I would like it to be but maybe I'm just bad"

then "wow, these strike bosses are really just bullet sponges, shoot the legs to make the core appear, trade aggro and dodge the laser guided missiles, this fight doesn't need to be 10 minutes long"

then "hmmm, i've had to backtrack for 3 radio beacons that gave me quests that sent me to the same exact location (all in a row), i'm not sure I like that"

now I don't know how I feel exactly, it's a pretty solid game all around but there's a lot of stuff that still needs work IMO. Chiefly the balancing on strikes, the boss HP is way out of hand.

Recently? I found it was full this morning, but empty this afternoon/evening. No idea if it is a bug or a quiet shard...

I went Awoken, only because they had the coolest look. Race is purely cosmetic.

WARLOCK. I've maxed out each class, and Warlock is where I had the most fun. Hunter is a distant second. I like that my Warlock can take a shit ton of damage, but it's never to the point where I can't die. I like that aspect that it can be tense at times, especially when surrounded. But laying waste to a group of dudes who just jumped from a Fallen ship with my Vortex special never gets old. Watching their bodies slowly drift up and disintegrate feels sooooo good. Also, Warlock's melee works so well. Has a proper weight to it when you hit things. Love it.

Man, this game is going to be so good. Hell, it already is. Now if they can just make MP aspect fun, it will be GOAT.

The PvP in this game isn't doing anything for me. I may as well be playing countless other shooters. PvE is great though so hopefully the beta will showcase some more as that would be my only reason to buy the game.

Sound is exceptional with great music direction.

Just beat Strike on Legend with a couple of fellow GAFfers. It was pretty intense. The worst part was all 3 of us dying and resetting to a previous checkpoint. It happened multiple times on the "use ghost to disable layers" room and on the Walker. We didn't completely wipe on the final boss, though. But oh man! So many Fallen Captains and other enemies kept respawning, even in the room right before the boss room. We'd run out to recharge our health, only to run into a huge mob. Crazy times. I did get an uncommon rocket launcher out of it. And I got a rare helm, but it's level 12...

Got to the hive boss and quit. I absolutely hate long boss fights. It's what irritated me late in Infamous Second son. I might try it again this weekend.

It is still in alpha remember, I imagine a lot of this will get ironed out if it hasn't already (this build will be about a month old).

Also, I didn't want to chain beacon quests. I did the odd one or two, but frankly had more fun just exploring.

I get that a beacon quest may give you XP for exploring that area, but it will be better when there is more to explore after the alpha. Not just some of Old Russia.

Haha! They can't. I believe the only people who can hear you are in your fire team.

Honestly I would make the bosses more extreme but faster and better when you do them right.

Like for the spider tank boss, just like, no damage whatsoever unless it's on the core, the legs would get damaged but it wouldn't impact boss HP. Then obviously lower the hp so if your team is on point with their special/heavy weapons you can get the boss down after a couple legs.

I went exploring through the area, through the big industrial indoors area and cam eout the other sided somewhere, there were these cars and a freeway.

Basically i was on this ledge, and there was sort of an area below me that really opened up and I knew that I was going to die but I felt pretty bummed out when I did because the fall wasn't far at all, i've certainly fallen farther in game and I just happened to run up against the 'invisible wall'. I hope that's just because of the alpha and you can actually go on ahead in the full game, or that they make it like a 300 foot drop and nobody would ever question it's fatality.
