Do we have any idea about how many planets there will be in the full game?

Earth is just such a boring place, so many games take place on earth. While Russia looks cool, as does the Tower, the multiplayer map on the moon blows them both away.

I really hope it's just not a bunch of locations on earth and 2 other planets.

I had two runs where I sat 4th or third I am proud of myself. I got some good head shots as well. :) Getting the hang of this competitive aspect.

We know it's not the entire solar system, but that's the long term plan.

Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus, The Reef. Possible Europa DLC. Unknown how many separate locations each place has.

Supposedly 8, and I assume that some, if not all of them will have multiple locations, like how Earth will have Old Russia, Chicago, etc.

I just did the Strike mission with 2 random level 8 guys. We destroyed it. We beat the "bullet sponge" walker in like 6 minutes.

It seems like when people have some gear and they know how to use their specials and heavy weapons, these bosses aren't quite so bad.

So, what is the plan for this game with content? Going for a sizeable worlds representing three or more planets and other space-based locations to fuel many different modes regularly screams $60 season pass to me. I fully expect lots of extra vanity microtransactions.

They designed their Halo games to be pretty much infinitely replayable. Though, that wasn't achieved through raw amount of content.
Destiny seems to be pretty replayable.
No way. It's easy and not frustrating to "farm" certain enemies for quests (the one which asks you to kill 10 yellow health bar enemies) and if you just want to chill in free roam mode while getting some XP you don't have to travel across the whole map just to find a few enemies.
None of your points address what I think the problem is. If you're exploring and you just killed someone enemies, you wanna take a good look around, but it's hard to do that when you have to keep fighting enemies that respawn too quickly.

There's a huge spectrum between spawning too quickly and spawning so slowly you have to got the other side of the map to find enemies.

Thanks :)

Edit: You too, bombshell.

Indeed.

Went back to this today as a level 8 with two others the same level with good gear and we killed it in no time.

Also we all knew to damage it's brain when the leg is crippled, at first we didn't because well lolnoobs.

All this time I was under the impression Earth would only include Old Russia, but now I'm hearing about the possibility of a Chicago aswell and multiple locations on each planet?

Can the colours of the armour and cloth be changed in the alpha?
Didnt think I'd enjoy this game but loving it, even at alpha.

Some things in PvP are really annoying me:
-Spawning with a shotgun does not work. Maybe it can kinda work in games with near instant kill-times, but not in this game.
-Getting into a fight with an enemy only for him to pull some super charge ability out of his ass and kill you instantly is not fun.
-The tank vehicle thingy is incredibly overpowered.

Especially the first two things are really disappointing to see in a Bungie game.

Totally agree with the shotgun. Special ammo needs to be way more limited.

We don't know. I really hope there's more than one explorable area on each planet.

Honestly it's probably 2-5%, the high estimate only because of the two PvP maps in included.

Not only are there more locations on earth, but Mars, the Moon, and Venus, not to mention things we don't know about yet.

Don't forget the expanded level cap and loads more loot too.

My estimate would be 5% as well, since the retail game will have earth, Moon, Venus and Mars as playable planet (and beyond such as the Reef?). No idea if earth will only consist of old Russia at launch or include planned ones such as old Chicago and the dead european zone.

Nobody knows for sure.

Here, take a look at this:

These are a list of locations found in Halo 3: ODST. Places you don't visit. The symbol at the bottom correlates with another image in the game, found here: a poster with the text "Destiny Awaits."

Crisium is a place on the moon. All others are locations on Earth. Curiously, Russia isn't on there. Now, we may not see all these locations in the game, and all may not be the size of Old Russia, but I assume this gives us some idea of what to expect.

Really hope this area made it into the final game:

Looks like one of Jupiter's moons.

I know there's some footage of a level involving a derelict ship orbiting another gas giant as well.

Maybe the outer planets are planned as well?

It is a bit jarring to go from PvE in which killing things takes a while (Halo style sorta) to the PvP where kills are WAAAAY too fast. It doesn't need to be Halo, but it doesn't need to be COD either.

Before the game was officially unveiled, there were teasers with concept arts that showed about the many places that game will visit, old Chicago being one of them.

Granted, things can change but we don't know.

fun game, pvp stinks though... tried it and shot this dude like 20 times, and he barely got damage??? he just shot me a couple times and i died..

Just the little touches make this game awesome.watching the multiplayer loading screen with multiple ships flying to a location only to drop in and wreck havoc is just plain cool

Or they could be saving those for Comet 1 or Destiny 2.

With the amount of time Bungie has had, I would not be surprised if they are super duper deep into Comet 1 and Destiny 2 (possibly Comet 2) at this point.

Europa won't be in the retail version of the game, I'm sure of it. :P Probably down the line in one of those expansion (which would focus on the limits of our solar system). The way I see it playing out for the next couple of months, if there's only one big area per planet at launch, I see DLC which would add zones such as old Chicago.

do the beacon missions keep respawning? is it endless as that gets too repetitive for me if so

Yes because that is explore mission. Its pretty much freeroam with a small sample of things to do. You quit when you are ready. Its not a story mission.

EDIT: That free roaming mission is great for discovering more places or getting encrypted engrams and new stuff. Also good for leveling up guns.

Did Devil's Lair at level 6 for the first time with a level 7 guy and a level 4 guy... took around 2 hours to fully complete. Mentally exhausted, but it was really fun. None of us used mics and the gradual build up of teamwork was really exciting and fun. The waves of enemies on the second part were the hardest part, I think, but we eventually devised a strategy to retreat to the bunker part so we'd always be close to revive. Really, really enjoying my alpha time.

Yeah that's the kinda stuff that makes all the difference. The first time I fought it, I thought it was an annoying bullet sponge. The second time, I knew to use my rocket launcher to take out its leg and then run up and use my super on its brain. It was dying so fast and it was a lot more fun.

What felt weird to me is how different weapons seem to scale differently between PvE and PvP. Auto rifles seem to be about the same, but shotguns feel useless to me in PvE but they're great in PvP.
