So... what do we know about the specialisation? Looks like there are three different for each class.

I have no PSN friends, is there some way to randomly join up with people? Played a bit myself but didn't hugely enjoy it tbh.

If you do the level 6 strike mission it will match you up with 2 others before starting.

You may randomly meet people while doing missions or exploring in the explore mode.

I wonder if they will add codex items and such? I really want to explore the lore on my own, and what better way to do so than in exploration mode?

The backstory sounds awesome:

The Golden Age began just a few years from the present day after the arrival of a mysterious alien artifact known as the Traveler. The spherical Travel breathed new life into our system, brought rain to Mars, cleansed the sky over Venus, and marked rapid advancements in human science, medicine and technology; through these advancements, the lifespan of the average human tripled, coinciding with revolutionary steps in space travel and other advancements in civilization. In the space of only a few decades, numerous colonies and settlements were established across the solar system as planets and moons were terraformed in order to sustain human life.

Unfortunately, just as the Traveler's arrival heralded a new Golden Age for mankind, an "ancient enemy" of the mysterious being arrived; a powerful darkness that found [humans] ... on Earth and nearly destroyed [them]. Driven back to Earth, humans narrowly escaped extinction. The Traveler defended the endangered human race, and through unknown means, sacrificed itself to save humanity. The traumatic events brought a number of alien species to Earth, where they amalgamated with the remaining members of the human species within the last surviving city on the planet; a walled citadel built underneath where the Traveler hung over the Earth.

is there a public event in the beta? or is it just story mission - free play area - strike mission - multiplayer - tower?

There's a couple that I've seen, one was just a Devil Walker, didn't get to kill it though. The second one was defending an object while my ghost hacked it, nobody else showed up though and I got destroyed.

Had the same plus two more.

Both were impossible solo, they ended up moving through a 1-4 check point system. When they got to the fourth they disappeared.

not sure i quite have the hang of this game's menus yet.

last night after making my character I was dumped out into a sandy level and I had to go accross the map and fight a "wizard" in the enemy's "hive". Was pretty tired so I left it there for the night.

today I found out the Tower is where you go to re-jigg your loadout, and then I was put on what looked to be a snowy level, in what appeared to be a capture-the-flag style game.

How do I get myself back to the first level I was playing last night?

i had the second one happen yesterday, all alone. so i only successfully completed 2 of the 3 waves before the time ran out.

the wizard fight is the single campaign level the alpha has located on earth in old russia. it should have an orange icon, lvl 3 mission. if you're selecting the crucible circle on the travel map, that is competitive multiplayer. separate from the main game.

Go back to the orbit (Touchpad- hold triangle) and click the earth. There are three missions available, the one on the left is the mission youve played yesterday. The one in the right is the explorationmap with a few little quests. The one in the middle is the dungeon.

(sorry for my bad english)

Its simple. Press the touch pad then triangle to return to orbit. Then select earth as your destination.

I enjoyed the Alpha a lot, I preordered it shortly after playing it.

I guess my only gripes were people trolling during the matchmaking co-op levels. Either they go afk or dance emote the whole time. I guess I'll stick to only doing that with people on my friends list.

The other thing is being able to use your special move during Crucible. I didn't see people use it too much, but being a Warlock and everyone loves huddling around the zone. One special move can wipe everyone out. I guess it's supposed to substitute only being able to use one timed nade once in awhile, but I don't know.

Melee also feels kind of Uncharted-ish, where it gets to a point where 2 players can run at each other hip firing and then the first to melee wins the fight. It almost felt strong enough to one shot anything at some points, unless I don't know that melee does different damage depending on where you hit the opponent.

Minor gripes since I still had fun, but those were the only things that felt kind of OP.

Good catch on the empty slots there.
I saw subclass mentioned in a couple of spots in the interface but didn't know when or how one would change ones subclass. Looks like more information is to come in this regard.

So what exactly can I do in this alpha?

So far I seem to be running around like a headless chicken on Earth doing the same boring fetch quests over and over again.

The Strike is really good if you want some co-op fun and then there's the Crucible for PvP action. The explore thing is a little dull at first but once you get your head around the alpha it all falls into place.

Try a strike or PvP or just lay off the fetching and explore, you might encounter an event.

I have never bought an FPS (not counting Metroid Prime series), but the Alpha has definitely raised my interest in Destiny.

I've played very few FPS. Seems the next evolution of first person action adventure was a suitable way to pitch it, it's not simply bang bang shoot shoot.

Hope at some point the different aspects of the game, all the gameplay variants, branch off into deeper separate titles rather than aiming to be all things to all men. I have no interest in the PvP whatsoever, but then again have to admit I wasn't all that keen on the whole strike team thing before the alpha, yet strikes can be a lot of fun even with randoms.

Where's the Exo love? Anyone has any screens of these cool looking robots? :)
I really like this Exo head, too bad it's a ladybot exclusive. These barely humanoid robot heads really don't belong on those slim female bodies, it makes me feel like I'm playing a pleasure droid designed to fulfill some seriously freaky fetish.

Two things I want to say

1) what will be the 'touchpad' on Microsoft's device?

2)my brain is hardwired to be outside when it's a beautiful day out, I live 5 minutes from the bay, 7 minutes and 2 bridges to the beach... If I stop home for two Seconds I feel the suns rays pour through the window and I feel every second it's out I have to be out doing SOMETHING, anything, surfing, reading a book on the beach, fishing, on a boat, whatever... this Alpha change all that

So thank you based-Bungie, for pushing this game until the fall, and not ruining my summer

Truly will be, game of the year

So... what do we know about the specialisation? Looks like there are three different for each class.

The Titan class has been shown to have the ability to generate a bubble shield, which would replace the hulk smash, no idea on the third specialization or what the other options are for Hunter and Warlock

Bungie if you are reading this. Any chance you guys can extend the Alpha? even for just a couple of more days?

Are you there God Bungie? It's me TEH-CJ.

Seriously though, please Bungie. Maybe just start the beta?

So it seems we've found the limit on how large your clan can be. Look like it's 500 people. So once we hit retail we will have to be more selective for sure. But that's one reason it was open to everyone right now. I wanted to find that hard limit. Since it's the final day we won't be making a 2nd one but now thanks to this I can figure out how to structure things and what limits we can put on for retail.

I'm going to assume that the View button brings up the Ghost, and the Menu button brings up the character screen. Unless the Xbox circle changes colors like the PS4 lightbar, they'll lose that functionality too.

The share button is my biggest concern, especially seeing all the streams and images in this thread. It's really convenient and I don't think snap (especially using your voice to do it) will be an alternative that I'm comfortable with. Maybe if they make pressing the Xbox button twice bring up a share menu, it'd work. Gotta say though, despite the symmetric sticks, the PS4 controller handles the game really well.

And speaking of sharing, I found my new favorite spot

Ah the tree. Yes I spent a lot of time climbing that tree It's a lot prettier in alpha. That's for sure.

Fuck, why isn't this game out yet. I don't want this alpha to end >_<

Kudos Bungie. It runs pretty fucking great already. Haven't come across any bugs on my end so far.

I'm Loving Halo-Lands. Really Looking forwards to the release.

Hopefully the the problems will be sorted.
Three of us playing that final mission last-night (the one with three bosses in). Whenever we got to the wizard, one of us would have mic problems. First it was me. Couldn't hear anyone-one. Even changing it from headset speaker to speakers didn't help. We dropped out to try again. Same problem but with the other guy in the pic above. Kinda ruined the match that night.

Just do like AIE does in Warcraft, they have 6000 something members broken down into subguilds. Each guild gets a name with GAF in it

God. Damn. It. I didn't realize the peril of playing alone. I had to face the Witch and the Hive all on my own. It turned into a game of hide and seek with me as the mouse.

Eventually outwit her though.
