You can purchase extra ammo at the tower and then while you're playing go to options > items > use special. Voila

Yeah that sounds good. Thanks. Seems like its the best way to go.
They're intended to be a Glimmer sink, I think... A dungeon tax, because death has no penalty in this game.

Sound about right. I didnt think about it before but dying is not a big deal at all. I did a strike without dying and it didnt even complete the objective thing I picked up at the tower. I wonder if this is a flaw I need to report.

Okay, this was infuriating.

I had one of the guys I was playing with bail on us while we went up against the Devil Walker, and I was left with a horrible team mate. Rarely bothered to revive and turtled into a corner only to get pummeled by the cannon blast splash damage while I was waiting to respawn. Basically tried 4 fucking times to beat this thing and when I finally had on its last inch of life bar ... I get disconnected.

Fuck off.
Solution: don't play with randoms. Add as many GAF members as you can and invite one or 2 to tag along on your firesquad. Makes things way easier and if your lucky you can use randoms from other squads as cannonfodder while you take the walker down.

Yeah the people complaining about the walker boss fight taking too long are obviously doing it for the first time (I remember complaining about it too). Once you've geared up and you know what you're doing, it's a ~5 minute fight. Which is definitely not worth complaining about when it comes to boss fights.

Most likely it will just become known that these Strike missions will present a challenge if you attempt them at the level they are offered and if you have crap gear.

Nod which is the way it should be. If you are level six doing a level six strike then it should be challenging, especially the first time you do it and you don't know the 'strat'.

Yeah, I had a friend and his friend hop on today. We did exploration for a bit and it was much more fun than trying to solo.

Does anyone else have impromptu soccer games with their friends by repeatedly running into the ball in the tower? We spent way longer than we should have with that today.

Needs more guns, more gun balance, and the auto aim is way too good. I've enjoyed my time with it, and I can't wait to see what they put into the beta.

This is one thing I wonder if Bungie is going to streamline. I always purchase consumables for primary/special weapon but going in the full menu in the heat of battle feels so drawn out during intense scenarios. Wonder if they have plans to introduce a quick menu or something to that effect.

I thought you had to sign up for alpha, but I just got a random message inviting me? Oh well, it's been really cool so far, but than I expected after my hype had started to die off.

I think it's still worth complaining about. It's a boring bullet sponge fight that evokes all the worst parts of Borderlands bosses. Everything else before that mostly requires mobility or target priority. This just requires you to position and let loose until dead. No challenge, no fun mechanic, nothing.

Put two or three of them out there, make then more mobile, but have them die a bit faster. Much more fun fight in that case, IMO.

Just a quick question.

Is there any "ending" to the Explore missions? Or are they endless and designed for you to explore the environment?

Endless, to my knowledge at least. I played them for two hours straight last night (lvl 8), they just kept re spawning I would just have to go to a different area.

Anyone know what to do with Ascendant Shards?

Zero crafting/etc atm.

No doubt. I'm hoping its just because it is the first strike, trying to get people used to it.

One thing I would prefer, increase the difficulty get an actual increase in fight mechanics. Level should do ALOT more than simply increasing their dmg and diminishing ours.

I think they're just designed to be a fun playground for you to explore. I found several areas filled with mobs so high level they didn't have an actual number and took no damage from me (just ??). There's also a few places that are clearly meant to be the entrances into new sub zones but are blocked off in some way.

Did anyone else stumble into areas which you werent meant to? I found two where the enemies had two question marks for levels and I did like no damage. Pretty interesting.

Also noticed that the small caves that hold just loot all look the same.

Edit: lol, someone just posted they found the area.

I noticed a few differences in the fights when you put it on legend mode. Mostly just more frequent mob spawns during the battle and more locations from which those mobs spawn and attack you. Seemed like a decent boost in difficulty.

Talking more about a desire for additional boss mechanics. Hell the crab boss could move around on legend or we could have two crabs!

I'm pretty confident that gear and level are both equalized in multiplayer. My weapons definitely don't do anywhere near the same damage in PvP as they do elsewhere.

The only benefit of leveling therefore comes from the achievement of secondary stats, better scope unlocks, and your class grenade options, I think. Which is fairly similar to most competitive fps modes these days.
They might not do the same damage because of armor. I definitely felt like I was killing faster once I got a better gun.

Also, wouldn't it be weird if PvP had a gear grind (which it does - the venders sell gear that can only be obtained through PvP) that was worthless in PvP?

What? You guys are shooting them in the leg right? When he collapses he takes a significant amount of damage. Each round from my semi-auto rifle was doing 200-300.

Took 5 mins with a party of 3.
My rifle was only doing 140 when he collapsed, and I don't know what my teammates were using. One dude was pretty defensive, which was appreciated since it let us respawn quite a few times. :-P

Yeah, that would be brilliant, but I think you're right. This one does seem limited in potential scope because it's designed to be the first one.

I'm so pumped for this game, though.

Current loadout for the Crucible games is a Duke Mk 10 hand canon, which is a badass pistol with a Tengoku FR2A Fusion rifle which takes a time to charge but is usually a one hit kill.

I can't figure out how to use my heavy weapon though. Any ideas?

Hold down the triangle button until you switch to your heavy weapon. Tap triangle to switch back to primary/special.

Anyone else a little annoyed by the fact heavy weapon ammo is severely limited? The most ammo I've gotten is about 80 rounds and that's it; an extra 20 rounds would be great along with another 5 rounds for special ammo.

I'm not sure how much of the beta I want to play. I'm so hooked that I've played the alpha far longer than I likely should have. I do not want to consume all of this content and burn myself out before the game even releases. My mates would kill me.

Stupid question. This game is multi only, no single player campaign?

You can play single player. There's only one mission in the alpha, and one multiplayer explore zone, but you're free to go your own way.

You can play it single player, but it is built for multi.

Is the beta going to be fully open, do we even know?

There is single player, in a sense that you will be playing in a party of 1 while other may be inhabiting the world around you doing various other things.

Edit: think about how DC Universe Online works

Only problem I have with the spider is that I run out of ammo for my guns. Maybe necessary for ammo crates in some areas. Hated having to switch to heavy guns and sneak close to the boss to take out weaker enemies in the hopes of ammp drops. I might need to buy those consumables to replenish ammo.
That was my issue with it as well. It either required a sustained chipping and ammo farming from a single player (took me a good 10-15 mins) or a team effort to take down. I really liked how hard it was, but the feeling of futility was a bit annoying.
