Not being confident about some great end-result =/= not standing behind the team.

I am more annoyed by all the super-opportunistic Dutchies who thought Oranje was shit, but after one great game suddenly think they'll become Worldchampions.
Well that's football for ya

I do think that after the win on Spain they'll have a better chance of getting out of the group phase though.

All you USA haters, show me a Ghana player that can do this

So casual!!!

Let's go Germany! Hoping for a nice win there. USA vs Ghana will be the one to watch though, the result will end up with either meltdowns or pride overload.

I know you're joking, buts that's one of the earliest tricks that many people learn once they've learned the basics of football. I remember back when playing for my Primary Schools football team my friends and I would spend hours trying to humiliate each other with tricks, the one above being the most popular one.

Good days.

This is the first time I've changed a prediction after initially entering it:
German 3 - 1 Portugal
Iran 0 - 2 Nigeria
Ghana 1 - 1 USA

Very tempted to change the USA Score...

Because it's okay to be behind your team.

I absolutely loathe the general Dutch opinion of downplaying victories and good performances and having good players. Tempering expectations so that we can't ever get disappointed when we fail. The worst quality the Dutch have when it comes to sports (but really anything) is pretending to have humility and not ever showing conviction in our abilities.

If we lose, fine, we lose, but I'll be damned if I'm not gonna be 100% behind The Netherlands as the future World Champion until we're actually out of the running.

Who's not behind the team?

I'm not downplaying the victory, the victory itself was great, but it's just 1 game. Everybody was down on the team beforehand, not giving them a single chance and now all of a sudden because of 1 win every Dutchie is crowning them World Champs and believes they are invincible. It's just dumb.

I think so too. But it seems some (especially on my FB) actually think we are already group-winner.

We have a very good chance against both Australia and Chile, but it is not going to be easy as pie. Oranje has to do their best. If they do I am confident this tournament will last a while longer for us. If they keep up the form they had against Spain... well then they might get real far. But I am not gonna judge after one game ;)

That was already my thinking, but I'm still not sure how likely it is. Even if we do beat Ghana and tie portugal, I have a hard time imagining that we will score more against Ghana than Portugal.

It would also be good if Germany was sitting on 6 points and a large GD going into that final group game.

First day, I have major rooting interest.

Today's basically going to decide if U.S has any chance of advancing.

1. They must beat Ghana by 2 goals or more.
2. Germany must beat Portugal by 2 goals or more.

1 is unlikely but we can hope. 2 is more likely.

Then hope to tie Portugal, Sunday. (Obviously beating would be massive)

A tie against Germany is also possible.

Don´t forget that Jogi and Klinsi are in love.

I think a draw against Ghana wouldn't be the end of the world. I feel like the US has a decent chance of stealing 3 points against Portugal since Ronaldo is not 100% and the Manaus conditions favor us.

Germany fully expects to have 6 points from Portugal and Ghana, so the US-Germany match will just be 90 minutes of polite conversation while gingerly kicking the ball about.

Just beat Ghana and tie with both Germany and Portugal and you guys are through to face Belgium.

It seems more reasonable to just root for a massive brawl between Germany and Portugal. Resulting in numerous injuries.

This tournament has already seen a lot of the team that scores first ending up losing, so what's going to happen is Crissyboy scores on Germany early, and in his celebration shatters his femur because he is made out of sun-baked clay. Germany proceeds to score 4 goals.
