There are degrees of "more competitive than Brawl" though and as it stands it's still quite a defensive game, with there being at least 3 simple things that help without affecting casuals negatively and 1 not so simple thing that requires changing the engine slightly but isn't as important.
If smash 4 had dash dancing, a way to reduce aerial lag (either automatic or reducing it on hit, nothing that requires an extra input) and crouch cancelling for dashes, you'd have a lot more people excited about it.
Oh, and getting rid of that awful ten frame buffer would be great too when not playing online but I'm not too hopeful for that.
