The more I see Chorus Men the more I hope that it was just a misinformed leak.

I'd rather just have Marshal, since he's the mascot of the series and is basically one of the Chorus Men. Rhythm Heaven is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises and I'll be bummed if he's a gimmicky '3 as 1' character. Maybe Glee Club is just his final smash.

Just personal preference though.
Marshal isn't the mascot of the series, he's in one game. He's also clearly not one of the Chorus Men. The Chorus Men are in 2 of the 3 RH games (appearing on all the promotional materials for the best selling one) and appear in Wario Ware. Marshal wouldn't make much sense.

It seems like everyone's given up on Mewtwo. What's up with that? I mean, I wasn't ENTIRELY expecting him, but I thought he had a somewhat decent chance.
The leaks and select screens don't leave room for him, expect him as DLC.

OMG, Pokemon fans keep being the most obnoxious when it comes to Smash, now people think Sceptile has a chance of being in the game just because of OmegaRuby/Alpha Sapphire, what is up with that srsly?

Greninja got in.

It's a pretty common feeling at this point that there's a ton of Pokemon and Mewtwo might be overkill.
To be fair, we had 6 last time (counting Red's separately). Assuming Jigglypuff comes back (which is pretty much a given, seeing as she's one of the Original 12), Mewtwo would bring the PokeCount up to 6, just like in Brawl. I don't see the big issue.

If we were talking 7+, then I could see the concern.

They are more or less the same character.

I'd rather have a brand new character than a clone of the same character.

If anything Mewtwo fans should be upset that Lucario got the nod instead since they have almost identical movesets.

They only share one move.

I fell for it didn't I?

Clearly not one of the Chorus Men? Do you know what character I'm talking about?

The guy in the middle. He's been in every Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven/Paraside game, he just didn't get a name until the most recent installment.

Literally the only thing they share in common is their neutral B and vague similarities with their foward and up smash (and I am stretching hard to include those)

Sans their Standard B, the two don't play anything alike (Project M proves this, even with the changes they made to both).

If I recall correctly, Mewtwo got screwed over due to time contraints, & Sonic. He was supposed to be in Brawl alongside Lucario.

Not a huge mewtwo fan myself but I wouldn't mind if he got in. I think his animations would be amazing in this game. Much rather have him than snake.

Yes, if you count Red separately

Most people don't.

If Mewtwo and Lucario are clones, than Jigglypuff and Kirby are too.

If anyone "replaced" Mewtwo in Brawl, it was Sonic.

Expected from a Kings fan

I think Mewtwo still has a shot. It's odd that such a notable Pokemon wouldn't make an appearance in the Charizard/Greninja reveal trailer when so many others did. His omission was telling, in my opinion.

So any character with their up special as a recovery, their neutral special as a chargable projectile, and their down and side specials as utility and combo setup is a clone?

I guess we don't need Lucario anymore since we have Zero Suit Samus and Shiek.

No he hasn't. He's not even the night walker. He's only in fever.

I only have a problem when Mewtwo fans want to remove Jigglypuff just to put Mewtwo back in, which is a very common view among Mewtwo fans, sorry Mewtwo fans, your Pokemon only made it to one game, Jigglypuff has been there in all 3, get over it.

Even weirder once you realize how much they have been pushing him in X/Y

It's heavily implied he is the night walker. The GBA sprite was just primitive. Character designs change a lot. It's basically like his 'classic' form.

Having his 'old version' at the beginning of the song and his 'new version' at the end of the song seems like an artistic choice. Even the background stars change from the GBA version to the Wii version.

He's also the only Pokemon besides Charizard to have 2 Mega Evolutions and is a popular Pokemon in general. I'd be surprised if he doesn't show up as DLC if they are in as suggested by the leak.

They're not the same character though, they don't even appear side by side. In any case, he's clearly not one of the Chorus Men, as they appear separately in Fever. He's only in one game, that's why he's not playable.

Just give Mewtwo's moveset to Ganondorf then everyone wins. Mewtwo stays (in spirit) and Ganon gets a new moveset.

There's been some... "interesting" posts in this thread so far.

Also, I don't remember Glee Club being in Rhythm Heaven Fever. Was it a cameo or something?

No

Different head shape, and the arms and legs are completely different.

It's a different installment with an updated design? They have the same :3 face, the same big heads and white bodies, and the same fang teeth when they open their mouthes.

If these were characters from separate franchises it would be a coincidence, but this is clearly a character redesign.

Pretty sure sakurai has stated he counts them as different but I might be wrong

He didn't state that directly, but he has stated that Brawl has 39 characters and also that Melee had 26 characters, which means he was counting the transformations.

Right, and I was agreeing with you. As far as I know, every FE character ever is in FE:A. It's not really an argument for Ike, then.

It's not really every character ever, although it is every past protagonist and many other characters. It's 10 per game (20 for FE4) + 10 extras spread around the various games. And then there are a few DLC only characters, although most were just alternate versions of characters already in the game.

From what I've seen, the removal of the ability to ledge stall is actually one of the most welcome changes in smash4,

It's definitely a step towards making it a less defensive game, really nice change.

Not so sure about being able to grab a ledge whilst someone else has it yet though.

or they're new characters based on the same 'species' as the old. I've seen people refer to them as Chorus Kids.

Damn straight

That's why i'm not too plussed about Smash IV's balanced. Regardless of what happens, it will be more competitive than Brawl.

Not like that's hard lol! Honestly character balance is the thing I'm the least worried about. Everything seems to be in flux in that regard so no use thinking about it now.

Because they're different characters. They have superficial similarities, but they're clearly not the same. A Chorus Kid appears in Munchy Monk. They also appear in Game and Wario, so Marshal isn't an updated design lol. All you need to know is you're wrong, "Chorus Men" doesn't mean marshal. He won't he playable.

There are degrees of "more competitive than Brawl" though and as it stands it's still quite a defensive game, with there being at least 3 simple things that help without affecting casuals negatively and 1 not so simple thing that requires changing the engine slightly but isn't as important.

If smash 4 had dash dancing, a way to reduce aerial lag (either automatic or reducing it on hit, nothing that requires an extra input) and crouch cancelling for dashes, you'd have a lot more people excited about it.

Oh, and getting rid of that awful ten frame buffer would be great too when not playing online but I'm not too hopeful for that.

Its a demo and some people are reporting they didn't have frame rate troubles on the 3DS at all.

Yesss. Back to full hype mode then. I guess I needed something to complain about after Nintendo's fantastic E3 showing. October can't come soon enough and hopefully I'll be a better member of Smash-gaf than I was of Mario Kart 7-GAF

I know you were but I didn't explain very well on my point. I was trying to get clarification on all characters being in the game. I swore there are only few returning characters in FE:A in the game. I have the game but it's still wrapped tho. I'm glad that there are more than just few returning characters in that game. I need to finish Xenoblade first!

It's still possible!

Or did you believe Kojima when he said he had no idea about him appearing?

I think it's easier to cope with it now than waiting until release day which would make it even more bittersweet. So I'm going with my stance that he's out for good. If he got in then I will be happy as fuck.

Brawl 2.0 is equally as stupid.

These generalizations should just stop.

Agreed but it wouldn't be stopped any time soon.

Gorgeous but all these mockups with boring ol' Chrom in and without Lucas and Takamaru in the main squad make me sad face like no other. :(

Same here. RIP Takamaru. I thought he had better chance to be playable after got in 4 games.

Re: Inklings -- the concept of the ink mechanic in smash bros is very intriguing to me...

It would be very interesting if it happened.

Oh no worries, I know about that

To be honest, i'm not expecting much, and i'll be content with whatever Sakurai puts out

Y'know, I always wondered how putting a set of glasses on superman made people not recognise him, or how Sailor moon's tiny mask's somehow protected their identity... after seeing these argument about what amounts to Marshall wearing a bowtie I suddenly feel enlightened :P

Gem pls

It's because she's female. XP

I like playing someone who looks/acts as cheeky/mischevious as I feel. Inklings have the sass I need :3
