Lebron had played pretty much the entire game up til that point. Spo figured to give him a 2 minute breather and if they caught up, he'd put him back in. If not, it was over.

Lebron was exhausted.

And that does what? I'm sure they had the rah rah pregame. They had the rah rah in huddles the whole game. They rah rah teh whole season. They had rah rah leading into the 4th quarter.

Guess what...they still lost...badly. You seem to be fixated on appearances more than the reality. Realistically speaking...no amount of rah rah would've changed what happened. Because all of the rah rah leading upto those 6 minutes didn't change the outcome of the series.

I'll leave it at this....actions speak louder than words. Lebron couldn't have done anything more on that basketball court to win the game. He wasn't going to beat the Spurs by himself. Nothing he would've done would've made his teammates play any better.

There comes a time when the players who play above their talent simply can't do it anymore. His supporting cast couldn't do it anymore after 4 straight trips to the finals. That's a ton of basketball.

No matter what you say...this isn't on Lebron James...staying in 6 minutes wouldn't have done anything but pad stats.

So they're down the avarage they lost at these finals, on the road, against an opponent that has waited one year for their revenge, after being outplayed basically 19 quarters straight and now everyone is magically gonna make shots for 3 straight games and turn that series around because James stays on the floor for 3 more minutes?

That was the end though.

If they had "fought til the end" we'd still be here w/ a Spurs chip and the team would look at him just the same way they look at him now.

Again, I really think that kind of stuff doesn't matter to players neaaaarly as much as guys like Skip Bayless, etc.

Lebron is a fantastic player, still the best player on Earth, still showed up to the Finals, still will have chances to compete for titles, still is not done in his career, but he quit though. It's okay for him to be this generation's best player, and a player that left an elimination game early too. Even if he wouldn't have changed anything in the outcome of the game (though I'd have to believe the score would be closer figuring the best player on Earth is playing rather than Michael Beasley), it could've changed some perceptions.

But at least he didn't get to absorb all of the loss, right? It's not his fault!

the team lost every game by nearly 20 points. They were clearly outclassed and no amount of heroics were going to change anything. there simply was no point in playing. no amount of sarcasm, no amount of "lol git gud" or anything would have changed that.

My point wasn't that he should care about some rec leagues scrub on realgm and neogaf saying he was stat padding, my point with that statement was that no matter what you people were gonna bitch. Whether it's cuz he has no heart or that he was stat padding in a game that was clearly over.
 
I feel like if Lebron had stayed in until the buzzer and gotten a few more boards and 10 points or whatever he would have been accused of stat padding in garbage time (which I've seen before). Sort of a lose lose situation.

They better hope they can keep Chalmers or else their PG rotation will be Cole and a rookie next season. Miami is going to have a big drop off this season and the next unless they strike gold during free agency somehow.

Wade will probably opt in because he'll take a huge pay cut otherwise.

I think Bosh will opt out and walk because Miami is kind of a shitty situation for him going forward. All the blame, none of the credit. Underutilized and underappreciated. Got 2 rings, time for a better spot.

LeBron will opt out and walk unless Miami fills Bosh's spot with a superstar.

There's no where ideal for LeBron to go. I think LeBron knows that if he wants to target FA 2015 is his year, not 2014. His best option even if Bosh and Wade opt in might be to play another season in Miami, hope Wade looks a little less busted and see if they can't get back to the Finals. As bad as they looked against SA it's not like the East is a juggernaut.

What makes you think Bosh would be willing to jump on the grenade to save LeBron and Wade?

He has no incentive to help them, especially if it means he loses 20 million guaranteed for 1 season.

No one is paying Chris Bosh $20 million dollars for 1 year on the open market.
 
I never cared for Bosh.....but damn did he ruin his career chasing rings with his buddies. Dude was a legit 22-24 ppg scorer and 8-10 rpg. Then to be relegated to a 3point specialist.
 
If Phil Jackson hired a well respected coach, they would have had a serious shot at landing Lebron.

You'd sign him to a max contract? I know he has two rings....players care about their individual legacy too. Bosh probably doesn't care because of what you stated...I'm just saying he lost the most from an individual standpoint.

You'd be hard pressed to find a GM that would build a franchise around Bosh at this point. He's 30 years old. Max contracts go to franchise players...that's not Bosh anymore.

I just don't think he'll come back to this team as currently constructed. Ray Allen might retire, Chalmers is probably gone, Beasley is probably gone, so it might only get worse as far as role players go.

He might actually rather go back to Cleveland and play with Kyrie, Waiters, and Wiggins than go back to Miami.

I don't think something close to a max deal is out of the question for Bosh. I wouldn't do it, but GM's have done worse. If there's no shot at LeBron or Melo, I could see the Lakers going after Bosh.

The Heat with a broken Wade and Bosh are still a better option for Bron. Why would he trust Cleveland and that front office? Remember he's only reupping to commit to Wade and Bosh for one more season, in a weakass East, not commiting to Daniel Gilbert and his trash organization for 5. He could opt in and then play his FA game in 2015, allowing Riley to kick Wade and Bosh to the curb and build a team around him (Kevin Love?) rather than have to go somewhere else. There's no real urgency for LeBron. All of the teams that will have the capspace for him this year will probably have it again next season. The Free Agency market is dry this year.

That's where I disagree. He's desperately trying to win every year. I don't think he'd be willing to sacrifice or gamble even one season. It's not like the East can get worse, it's probably going to be tougher next year depending on what happens in free agency. What if Melo goes to Chicago, and Rose is actually healthy in the playoffs? Miami could lose to that team.

LeBron could go back to Cleveland and get a huge wave of positive PR. He could join Kyrie/Waiters/Wiggins AND possibly bring in another guy. I think Cleveland has a ton of cap room.

Cleveland is run by a buffoon. A buffoon that also ran his mouth and shit on him on the way out. They have a lot of assets on paper but they have had for the last 2-3 years an it hasn't translated to shit. Would it make sense for him to commit himself to that shitty organizaiton for 5 years and hope that Kyrie isn't just Marbury 2.0? And hope that the young guys they've drafted the last couple of years aren't just busts? And hope that the team that hired Mike Brown TWICE picks a good head coach? Or should he just go for one last run with Wade and Bosh and weigh his options after that?

For 2015, LeBron and the Heat would be a better team and a more comfortable option than LeBron and no head coach and a bunch of young players who could all suck and oh fuck I'm stuck here for 4 more years.

When has Cleveland ever signed a big time free agent? It's the Minnesota effect...no big time superstar wants to play there...even with a Kevin Garnett in his prime. Same with Lebron in Cleveland.

What's with all the Cleveland hate? They're just another small team trying to make it in the East. Kyrie is one of the top pg's in the league, Waiters is pretty good, but the key is that Cleveland might've struck gold with this lottery. Regardless of what fits, i'm pretty sure they're taking Wiggins for the superstar potential. And with the extra cap space, this isn't a bad situation for LeBron to come to, it's actually a great one.

The risk of going there is that there is no guarantee any of their young players pan out to be worth a shit. Kyrie is a chucker who already slacks on D and gets injured a lot. Waiters is decent but not exactly stellar. Anthony Bennet is a bust. They have no coach and busted on their last choice. What is so great about that? Again, is that team, next season, better than the Heat next season? Probably not. And if not, why not just stay in Miami and let a proven winner in Riley build a team around him in 2015?

And LeBron didn't shit on Cleveland. He busted his ass for that team for 7 years then exercised his right to free agency. He didn't put out a comic sans letter afterwards saying that Cleveland sucks and that he was going to win a ring before they do.
