PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

I honestly thought Jak 1 was the best of the collection. Jak 2 and Jak 3 were almost direct metaphors of "Jack of all trades, master of none."

Picked up Gladiator Begins.
Pretty enjoyable.
Basically it's
Go to arena -> kill people -> get their stuff -> upgrade equipment -> upgrade stats -> repeat

Terraria is addictive as shit.

Looking forward to a lot of Vita time during SGDQ.

Same question here.

I'd be curious to know this aswell. I haven't played Dynasty Warriors proper in years (minus One Piece Musou) and would love to get back into it. The discounted price is really good so aslong as it runs alright i'd happily get it digitally.

Looks like we're not getting any answers. Well...I went ahead and bought the game anyway. Dynasty Warriors Next was a very enjoyable game, this is apparently a good game too but I haven't read many opinions that indicate whether it's better than most Dynasty Warriors games out there. It is filled with content though and the vita version apparently is like the console versions minus the graphical parity and framerate problems when there are many enemies on screen. The game is currently on DL and I see no seperate patch DL, so the patch Japan got to improve the framerate we don't have yet. File size is 3,34 gb.

Tearaway didn't even come close to selling 250k. The last LTD figure in the NPD thread was 56k, and we know that it sold about 4k in Japan. 190k digital sales + physical sales in the rest of the world is improbable, to say the least.

So, I've got a question about Minecraft.

I have a $10 gift card from Target which means I could pretty much get the PSN version for $9.99.

Now, am I correct in understanding that buying the PSN version will also net me the Vita version in August for free, and a $5 upgrade to the PS4 version?

I don't really know where else to bring this up, but does anyone else use this Vita grip? It's the CTA one.

I was able to get this for free, otherwise I never would have tried it. I never thought I needed a grip but remote play can be cumbersome at times so I thought I'd give a grip a shot.

I've only used it for about 15 minutes but it feels like a huge improvement. It's ugly as hell, but damn if it isn't comfy. Is this grip any good? Is there a consensus on one that's better? I read through the old grip threads and it seems like the one everyone used to like isn't even being sold.

I use this one on one of my Vitas. I'm pretty sure it's identical to the Nyko Powergrip minus the extra battery. I think that's the one you read about, as that is hard to come by. I also have the Hori grip and I'm not sure which one I prefer. They're both comfy to hold and don't add much extra weight. The Hori grip allows you to slide the handles inwards which makes it a bit more travel friendly. However I find myself having to adjust the handles during gameplay. They inch up slowly during use. The Hori grip also allows you to charge without taking it off. Hori feels more DS3-like but I couldn't say it's more, or less, comfortable than the CTA. All in all I'm happy with both and I'd say you have a solid grip for comfortable home use.

Quote to reveal Music Unlimited 30-day Voucher:

name me some ps1 games I should pick up. I own ff9, vagrant story, and crash 2. I'm thinking suikoden or breath of fire..maybe grandia or chrono cross?

Sounds more reasonable, yeah. Even being ridiculously generous and assuming 1 digital for every physical purchase would keep it under 120k.

Also Flandy never bought it, so let's say 119,999 max

Gladiator Begins is probably my favourite PSP game. I didn't play it until I got my Vita but I was addicted to it for a pretty long time. The combat is great and some of the fights can get pretty great.

I think the devs made a multiplayer focused fantasy game on PS3 with similar mechanics a few years ago. Not even sure they're around anymore. I'd love a new similar game on Vita or PS4.

I started playing Jak2 a while ago and I stopped in that mission they decided to add after playing Tony Hawk. Why would I want to do skateboarding in a platformer? I don't get it.

I didn't like the vehicles, the mission estructure neither the shooting. And the story was boring. I thought the original was vastly better because at least they know what they were making.

Could have traded in Tearaway to Target during that triple trade in promo and rebought digital right now and made a profit. Should have done it :(

^^
That's a Battlefield Hardline Beta code. Don't need it.
Hello, Comrades
Looking for a $5 recommendation. already have P3FES, so don't go there
Hot Shots Golf : World Invitational.
$3.25 for the Sports Sale and it's just lovely. On that note, I already have a physical copy. I should just buy it digitally too right? It's very light at 1.15GB.

I saw you made a mistake there.

Vita one is tempting.

I think i will wait until we have an idea of what Next week's sale is. How likely are we to find out before this one ends?

So it's finally clear why SCEA can treat Vita like that, it's because of Yoshida

I guess that Freedom wars and Oreshika will be the last first party Vita games for real >:(

Yay!

Just the bad press the Vita needs right now

Wonder if their tune will change if Freedom Wars strikes gold

Well, the cat is out of the bag.

Remember when I said that I am now not sure whether to buy Freedom Wars or not after reading the post-E3 Japanese interviews with Yosp? I'll now tell you guys why, since Yosp himself keeps shitting on the Vita anyways.

THIS ANNOYED THE FUCK OUT OF ME (his answer when asked if WWS is doing something Japan-oriented PS4 titles other than Blood Porn):
ただ、ですね。今Vitaでがんばっていて、そこでは日本市場中心で動いているタイトルが多いです。FREEDOM WARSやSOUL SACRIFICEは欧米でも期待されていますが、例えば、そういうフランチャイズがPS4に行って、「これは欧米でもウケるのでは」と評価されれば、それはまた、とてもうれしいことかも知れないです。まだわからないですが。

Just that, you know. Right now, Vita is persisting and moving on with lots of titles that are Japan-centered titles. Freedom Wars and Soul Sacrifice are being looked forward to in The West(EU and NA). But for example, if those (kind of) franchise goes to PS4 and are well-received, I think that may be a good thing. I'm still not sure.

It's not the best translation; he's worded it weirdly and I'm not going to bother mind-diving into Yosp. The interviewer didn't even mention FW, SS, or even Vita when asking the question, Yosp himself wants them on PS4. "Franchise like those" - FW and SS are the only hunting games by Sony.

The feeling Yosp gave me is that:
If Freedom Wars strikes gold, they'd move the IP to PS4.
If Freedom Wars fails, they'd move the IP to PS4.

When I talked to my friend who's leaning more towards casual gaming, one of the things he mentioned to me was "I heard Vita is now only an accessory to PS4". Sony is doing all they can to kill the Vita.

I was thinking of buying a PS4 since it'd be a nice companion to Vita, but I changed my mind. I'd rather get a PS3. And I might as well look into smartphones as a viable gaming device. Still not sure whether to buy FW or not.

PS Nova will probably be The Last Stand™. You guys will buy it whether it's translated or not. Just use your psychic powers to pass through the language barrier!

I don't know why that would annoy you. It's either those properties expand to PS4 or they die. There's not going to be a Vita successor, so those are the only options. Of course, I imagine if they do expand to PS4, they'll still probably die. Japan won't really care because they'll have played those games on Vita and home console gaming is lol tier over there. They'll be relying on the west. Those two are Japanese games through and through. Unless Shawn Layden's SCEA is drastically different, they'll be sent to die on PS4 just as they were on Vita.

So the two Ratchet games don't have a PS+ discount? For $10 I can just buy a used copy, it's harder to find a physical copy for $5 around here for me though.

I take everyone here bought Sorcery Saga now that it's on sale, right?

It's in the cart but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still considering Hot Shots but I have it on PS3 already. Would've picked it up instantly if the DLC bundle was on sale as well (or just bundled with the game).
