I mean from what I watched a lot of the bigger named players skip the cup so in a lot of cases they are different teams. The cup is just very confusing to me as a whole when it comes to performances.

I would be worried if our team was going for just the draw, since team that plays for a draw usually lose. Dos Santos won't go home without scoring.(or it will suck to be him) I really hope he scores and yells to the referee in "disallow it, I dare you".

In all seriousness, it's a shame the players and their federation can never approach the WC with professionalism. They've qualified the most times out of any African team, but they've also had the worst results in the last several WCs. They've done a very poor job building off 1990 and what Roger Milla did for them back then.
As for this WC, Africa can still have a decent showing. Ivory Coast still has a decent shot of advancing. Nigeria dropped the ball against Iran, but that group is on the weak side and they can still advance. Even Algeria still has a chance since they played their toughest game already and can open up.
Ghana also played well just struggled to finish. They certainly didn't embarrass themselves.
So I'll wait to see how round 2 of the group stages go before fully denouncing the African contingent. They could still get at least two teams into the second round, which IMO would be considered a success for the continent.

Have you seen Cameroon? There's a very high chance of Brazil ending up first. If they don't win we'll still want first because we'd want to play against a team that can't beat Cameroon.

Sterling and Sturridge looked quick and dynamic, created a lot of trouble and good runs into Italy's defence. The match made me more hopeful for England's future than I've been in years. No easy games ahead though, even with Uruguay looking weak in the first match.

no they dont. Mexico and Brazil could both win their games and if Mexico wins by a large margin theyd end first in the group by goal difference. As of now Brazil is at +2 and Mexico at +1.
There are no expectations here, as far as I'm aware. The team has potential, but the rebuilding process from the disaster of 2010 is still not near finished.

The sport of.football Is actually on the rise. TV viewers are up as are crowd numbers. Also in certain states you could argue that it is one of the premier sports.
If the sport continues its rise by 2018 we should be even better.
