welcome to our lovely latin american world cup. feeling the pressure europe? this is on a whole new level.

that was pretty much the call last cup as well. Then all the latin american teams failed the second they hit knockouts.

Not saying that's happening now, but you know, don't get too cocky before knockout football. Germany, NL, France, switzerland and italy haven't wobbled at all.

The main shocker is spain and while Chile sent them packing, the writing was on the wall after the dutch game. And well england got beaten. But when DONT england get beaten in the world cup?

Seems par for the course so far apart from the spain shocker.

Portugal imploded, but they got straight wrecked by Germany.
If NL can't win this, then I'm all for a Latin American team taking it, but calls of latin american domination are waaaay to early.

The Dutch/Chile game will be a much better indication of things to come IMO. if chile take em down, well then, full credit to the other side of the water, but not before.

Italy is the last country that will be doing England any favors

The Uruguay/Italy game would be for first place in the group if Italy win tomorrow. A Uruguay win would put them ahead. So I think Italy will still feel like they have something to play for.

I'm not that shook on Colombia and I don't think Italy is either so it isn't the end of the world even if Italy have to play them, although avoiding a south american team would probably be a good idea right about now. Italy will want to win these next two games. Don't think we will see much resting of players.

2 reasons:

1. Compared to England Germany actually has quite a lot of German players in the top clubs. Also, calling England "No. 2" football league on this world doesn't exactly mirror their success in the Champions League. Spain/Germany tied for first place, England/Italy tied for 3rd place

2. Compared to Spain in this tournament Germany actually has a working team unlike Spain, German team worked together almost flawlessly against Portugal. Spains "offence" and "defence" didn't work together for shit (hesitant to even call that swiss cheese a defence and that dull blade an offence), with the result that nothing in Spain's play worked at all.

Please don't compare these travesties of a team to the German National Team, this is borderline insulting.
